Get Brooke Burke’s Emmy Hairstyle by Jonathan Hanousek

BROOKE BURKE’s 2013 EMMY HAIRSTYLE by Hairstylist Jonathan Hanousek

Exclusive Artist Management

To compliment Brooke’s Structured Herve Leger dress, Jonathan Hanousek created this Relaxed Romantic Faux Bob.

To create volume and body and hold I applied Wen Pomegranate Nourishing Mousse to towel dried hair.  I used my fingers to create a side part and scrunched waves into the hair. I blow dried the hair with medium heat using a diffuser touching the hair as little as possible while drying so that the waves stay silky and soft.

Using a 1” curling iron I refined the curls on the surface and around the face. To maintain a natural texture I curled each piece of hair in the direction it had dried. Next, I applied a dime size amount of Wen Pomegranate Finishing Treatment Crème throughout the hair to give definition and separation to the curls. Afterwards, I loosely gathered the hair into a ponytail just above the shoulders twisting the pony up. I pinned the pony band at the nape with bobbie pins and created an anchor for my twisted bun. Then I wrapped up the remaining ends and secured with more pins tucking one side loosely behind the ear. My tip is to always check in the mirror tso everything is balanced. To complete the look, pin up any stray curls that seem out of place but don’t over think it. To ensure the hair stays in place for the long night ahead, I finished everything off with White Sands Stuck Up Mega Hold Hairspray

Emmy Awards: Claire Danes + John Frieda

Celebrity hairstylist Peter Butler was the visionary behind Claire Dane’s statement-making look at the 65th Annual Emmy Awards tonight. Using John Frieda Hair Care, Peter gave the actress a short faux bob that helped to elongate her neck in her stunning Armani Prive Gown. See below for the steps he took to create her classic and sophisticated look.

US-ENTERTAINMENT-EMMY AWARDS-ARRIVALS

Step 1 – Prep

Peter applied a few pumps of the Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Formula Hair Serum ($9.99 at drugstores) through Claire’s wet hair and then added Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Styling Mousse ($6.99 at drugstores) before blow-drying to give the hair more texture for better workability and hold.

Step 2 – Style

Next, Peter gave Claire a low side part and used a large-barreled curling iron to curl the Homeland star’s hair inward, which Peter noted also helped to smooth out her hair’s texture. Peter then created two small pin curls at the nape of Claire’s neck and combed the top of her hair down and under, pinning as needed into the base.

Step 3 – Perfect

Peter finished off the look by tucking the hair on the left side of Claire’s head behind her ear and spritzing Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray  ($5.99 at drugstores) for hold. To ensure that Claire’s bob glistened under all the lights on the red carpet, Peter also applied a sheer coat of John Frieda Frizz-Ease 100% Shine ($5.99 at drugstores).

As Seen on the Runway: Hair Trends for Him

Some of the new hair trends seen on the spring/summer 2014 runway are a bit more tapered and tidy on the sides, with a some volume on top, seen at such shows like Mark McNairy, AllSaints and Todd Snyder:

Description: cid:image001.jpg@01CEAF16.8B2C2330Description: cid:image002.jpg@01CEAF16.8B2C2330Description: cid:image003.jpg@01CEAF16.8B2C2330

To get this look, follow these easy steps from GO 24•7:

Step One: Ask a barber or trusted friend to trim your hair on the sides and in the back, leaving it a tad longer on the top.

Step Two: Rub a small amount of GO 24•7 Texture Paste ($15.95) between hands and comb through hair.

Step Three: Slick back the side of your hair with a comb, ensuring it is close to the scalp.

Step Four: Next, take the hair on top of your head and comb it straight up first, and then push it gently back and to the side with your fingers, keeping some of the natural volume in the front. Use a light hairspray to keep it in place. Try GO 24•7 Control Spray ($19.95).

Redken’s NYFW SS 2014 Calvin Klein Recap

Redken Logo

Calvin Klein

Spring – Summer 2014

guido headshot

Hair by Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Redken Creative Consultant Guido brought the model’s natural texture to the forefront of his style for Calvin Klein. He took a minimalistic approach to styling, allowing the hair to revert to its natural form. Other than a bit of all soft argan-6 oil to quell frizz and flyaways, the hair was au naturale!

“I kept the hair very natural for Calvin Klein. After adding extensions, I trimmed the hair to give it a nice, chic length. I wanted a clean, minimalistic look, so it was important that the hair wasn’t overly long. By allowing the hair’s natural texture to remain in tact, the overall style is a bit raw, yet elegant.”

Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

 Redken Products Used:

Create the Look:
  1. On damp hair, create a messy off-center part
  2. Add all soft argan-6 oil to hair from root to ends
  3. Tuck hair behind both ears
  4. Allow hair to dry naturally
  5. For more frizz control, follow up on dry hair with all soft argan-6 oil from mid-lengths to ends

Redken’s NYFW SS 2014 Marc Jacobs Recap

Redken Logo

Marc Jacobs

Spring – Summer 2014

guido headshot

Hair by Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Redken Creative Consultant Guido aligned the hair this season with the youthful, carefree style of Marc’s collection. Once the wigs were lightened, Guido’s team went back and darkened the roots to replicate regrowth. From the color to the choppy, somewhat messy cut, this look screams youthful nonconformity at its best.

“Why wigs? I suppose Marc and I really liked the uniformity that only wigs can create on the runway. This look was designed to encompass the type of free-spirited girl that Marc loves and ultimately designs for. She is somewhat punk and boyish, which is why the wig is bowl-shaped and asymmetrically cut around the face. It is almost as if she took the scissors to her own hair, completely confident and entirely in tune with her own personal style.”

Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

proTENAJ styleINFLECTION Body & Shine Foam: Your Answer for Awesome Hair

Everywhere I look it seems “big hair” is making a huge comeback. I can remember hearing stories from my mom about how beehives, and the “ratting” style were the look to have. I am sure that nowadays we women would not want to style our hair into something called the beehive, but we are definitely looking for ways to add body to our hair. Every product I have used to add body has never done what it says it should do. Many leave my hair feeling stiff, looking dull and that dreaded frizz always pops up every time I walk outside.

It was not until recently that I found a product that not only adds life to my dull hair, but adds incredible shine, is humidity resistant, and does not make my hair feel stiff. It is the proTENAJ styleINFLECTION Body & Shine Foam. This amazing, and unique, product starts off as a gel and emulsifies into a mousse when dispensed into your hand and can be used in some very creative ways. I have never been the kind of person who likes to follow directions (lol) so when I get a product to try, I always try something different than what it says I SHOULD do. How else can you experiment if you don’t think outside the box right?

TENAJ_Style_body_&_shine_foam

Having naturally curly hair, I always dry my hair with a diffuser. I applied a dime size amount (a little goes a long way) to my hand and let it emulsify to the mousse. Then I applied it to wet hair being sure to get it underneath the root. Then I did my usual blow dry routine just making sure I activated it the most at the root. Now when I diffused my hair to get my curls to activate, I used to get curls that looked like I had stuck them in a can of hairspray because they stick together, With the Body & Shine Foam you will never have stiff, sticky hair that stays in one spot. You can place the hair anywhere you want it to be.

Although one day I decided not to curl my hair but going for a sleeker, smoother look. After washing and towel drying my hair I applied the Body & Shine Foam in my hair, just like when I diffused it, and round brushed my hair to smooth out the curl. The minute I activated the hair with heat and the round brush, I swear I had never seen that much shine in my hair EVER. I was amazed at how soft, and shiny my hair looked and felt. I almost didn’t recognize my hair. The next thing I had to test was the humidity resistance. When I blow my hair out straight that seems to be the time I get the most frizz. But it did stand up to that test. Even when I was in Key West, which is even further south, my hair lasted all day with no frizzJ. I was soooooo happy I can’t even begin to tell you how shocked I was.

That day I round brushed my hair I had gotten such an amazing style out of it that the next day I didn’t feel like washing my hair and trying for it again. So this is where this unique product showed that it is truly amazing. I still had the style intact from the day before but having slept on it the body was gone. Not being one to freak out over something like that, I grabbed the proTENAJ styleINFLECTION Body & Shine Foam and pumped a very little amount into my hands. I applied it to my previously styled hair and took my hair dryer to the areas I had applied it too. My hair was back in the style I had the previous day and looked like I had spent all day doing it. I was, again, sold on the proTENAJ products. You can see my interview on their YouTube channel for tips and tricks on the proTENAJ Body & Shine Foam at www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jjthPMDaW4&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PLboOh05yB5_sQ5A3e0igagpHBVyw7YTXM

No doubt about it I am “proTENAJ girl”. I will honestly never let another hair product touch my hair that is not proTENAJ!!!
