Zap Your Zits Right at Home With TANDA

For the past few months I have been breaking out with severe acne all over my face  and no matter how much makeup I put on you could still tell I had it. I tried all acne treatments but still was not satisfied with the results. The acne on my face does not clear up as easily as the acne I sprout on my chest and my back (disgusting I know but hey it happens). It felt like my acne was getting worse and in the end I felt like giving up. But I am not one to give up easily on something that I feel very strongly about and I knew for a fact there was something out there that would treat my acne without drying or irritating my skin.

I have found something that actually works and is like stepping into the dermatologists office without the cost.  The TANDA Clear Acne Light Therapy Treatment has cleared my acne in less than a week.  Yes that’s right Light Therapy, the same technology that is used in a dermatologists office, is now available in the comfort of your own home.  The whole set comes complete with the light itself, the pre-treatment gel, charging station, and for those with very sensitive eyes a pair of goggles that will help with the brightness of the light.

The biggest question I had was “How does it work”?  Well, after some research I have found that the secret is in the LED light.  The clincal levels in the blue LED light is designed to kill acne-causing bacteria and will also help to prevent future breakouts.  Now before I had mentioned that it cured my acne in less than a week, I want everyone to know that just because that worked that way for me does not mean it will be the same for others.  Some may take longer, some not so long.  You really have to give the Tanda LED Light sometime to get into the pores and kill the bacteria that causes the acne.

BEAUTY: TRUTH or MYTH?

On Studio 10 today, I explain some beauty myths & truths. Here they are: http://www.studio10.tv/video/default.aspx?bctid=3058153123001

1. Chocolate makes you break out.
MYTH – Chocolate won’t cause a breakout, but it is true that a poor diet can irritate your skin, so try to limit your chocolate cravings!

2. The best place to apply perfume is on pulse points.
TRUTH – Applying perfume to pulse points is the best way to make your scent last all day. Fragrances react with heat, so spritz your perfume on your wrists or the back of your neck and you won’t need to worry about re-applying.

3. Your cell phone can make you break out.
TRUTH – Apparently cell phones are premiere breeding grounds for germs. Some experts say the average cell phone has more germs than doorknobs and even toilet seats — yuck! Make sure you take a clean cloth to your cell phone screen every so often to help get rid of any breakout-causing germs!

4. Brushing your hair 100 times every night will increase its shine.
MYTH – Brushing your hair too much actually increases the potential for pulling out strands of hair. Instead, just brush your hair when drying or styling it and use a shine spray if you’re looking for more luster.

5. Ignoring a need for glasses can lead to wrinkles.
TRUTH – Ignoring the need for glasses means more squinting, right? And more squinting leads to…you guessed it — wrinkles. In fact, any repetitive facial movement can lead to wrinkles so wear your glasses and sunglasses!

6. Matching eye shadow with your eye color will make your eyes pop?

MYTH – Actually, contrasting your eye makeup with your eye color is what will really makes your eyes stand out. Here are a couple recommendations based on your eye color:
Green/Hazel: Plum, deep browns, and light golden hues
Blue: Smoky charcoals, chocolate, and bright berry tones
Brown: Soft pinks, natural beige, and shades of bronze

Crossing your legs causes varicose veins?

MYTH – There are plenty of ways to potentially develop varicose veins, but none of them are related to crossing your legs (sigh of relief). Some examples of what could causes varicose veins include genetics, obesity, trauma to the skin, etc.

Get the Look: Red Carpet Styles by TRESemmé Stylist John D

Tonight, TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist John D. created gorgeous hairstyles for several leading ladies on the red carpet, including Greta Gerwig and Drew Barrymore.  Please find his hairstyle how-to’s with images below for reference.

Best actress nominee, Greta Gerwig turned heads in her DKNY Atelier gown and gorgeous, textured up-do.
“Our inspiration for tonight was purely feeling beautiful.  We wanted the look to be elegant, classic, and romantic so I opted for a soft, romantic ‘do to  complement Greta’s style.”
How-to:
  1. Use TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse on clean hair and apply throughout, from root to tip, for volume and a great foundation. Blow-dry hair using a medium-sized round brush to add extra bounce and lift at the root
  2. Once hair is dry, use a 1″ curling iron to create body, which helps add softness to the final look. It also holds hair together, which is necessary when creating an up-do. Once finished, flip head upside-down and spray waves using TRESemmé TRES Two Ultra Fine Mist Hair Spray
  3. Section off the hair that frames the face (ear to ear) and give the hair a light back comb at the root for added lift. Then, rake fingers through hair to tame down excess lift and pull remaining hair back toward the nape of the neck. Split hair into two sections and proceed to tie hair into knots creating a kind of loose “chain” effect.  Bobby pin into place. Pull the remaining hair, that was sectioned out, toward the back of the head and secure using a few hair pins.
  4. Finish the look by spraying TRESemmé TRES Two Hairspray all over to lock it in place. Try embellishing the style using some sparkly jewelry or an accessory – Greta wore Vintage Fred Leighton pieces.
Drew Barrymore looked radiant in her embellished Monique Lhuillier gown. To complement her fun and feminine style, we opted for a super straight look with a deep side part. “I wanted to balance the exquisite detail on her gown by keeping the hair simple and chic.”
How-to:
  1. Prep clean, towel-dried hair with a thermal heat protectant spray and spritz throughout. Comb through to ensure hair is coated, and blow dry. To get a super smooth blowout, I like to use a boar bristle paddle brush. This allows you to get a nice hold on each section and create tension to aid in the smoothing process.
  2. Once hair is dry, use a flat iron on a medium-to-low setting and run the iron through the hair to seal down the cuticle and add great shine.
  3. Determine parting and tuck behind ears. To ensure a nice smooth part, use just a dab of mousse and spread it out onto fingertips then apply the product to the parting area to create extra shine and added hold. Take a small dab of hair creme, emulsify into palms and run through the mid-lengths and ends to tame fly-aways and add shine.

2014 Golden Globes; Get Kate Beckinsale’s Hair Look

Kate Back Golden Kate Golden Globes                   Overall Inspiration:With her wholesome, English rose good looks, Kate can get away with quite a bit of edginess in her hairstyle, so we went with a punk-inspired diva look that’s a bit different from her usual soft flowing waves.”    “Get the Look”   Hair—Prep/Style:

  • ·         Start by spraying Moroccanoil Root Boost directly on to the roots of damp hair. The spray will help add body and hold and it’s a great way to set the style in. It’ll also make hair more pliable and easier to work with.
  • ·         Start blow drying your hair using a skeleton brush; use your fingers to create texture and additional volume. Once the hair is fully dry, separate into a horseshoe shaped section (the part between both temples & your crown area) and clip the top section away.
  • ·         Pull the bottom section into a low, side ponytail at the nape of the neck and secure with an elastic. Then coil & wrap the tail into a messy bun.  You can even tug a few strands out to create naturally falling bits and to loosen the bun. Secure it with bobby pins.
  • ·         Take the hair from the top section and backcomb the roots using Moroccanoil Boar Bristle Teasing Brush to maximize the volume at the crown and create a slightly disheveled texture.
  • ·         Secure the top section into the existing, loose bun with bobby pins.

Finishing Touches:

  • ·         Mist the hair with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to add shine and long-lasting hold. Spray a little on finger tips and work it into the single strands to help define. Secure the final look with a few more pins. You’re good to go!

NEW YORK – January 9, 2014Oxygen Media takes viewers inside the mind and heart of TV personality Maria Menounos as she strives to have it all in the new half-hour docu-series “Chasing Maria Menounos”  premiering on Tuesday, March 18 at 10:00 PM ET/PT. Maria shares her personal life for the first time as she challenges expectations and makes untraditional choices while surrounded by tradition.

“‘Chasing Maria Menounos’ is an emotional, comedic journey that will introduce Oxygen viewers to a modern young woman who is at a crossroad in her life and trying to decide what’s next,” said Rod Aissa, Senior Vice President, Original Programming and Development, Oxygen Media. “Maria is ambitious, unconventional and incredibly funny, you just can’t help but fall in love with her.”

Maria may be best known as the upbeat host of “Extra,” traveling the world interviewing celebrities and guest starring on television. But if you dig a little deeper you’ll find that Maria is a fearless, confident modern woman who is living her life as she designed it, confronting the obstacles head-on that surround her eclectic career and home life. Maria came from very humble beginnings but never stopped chasing her dreams. Now she lives with her boyfriend of 15 years, Keven, and traditional Greek immigrant parents, Costas and Litsa, who are demanding she at last get married and have children. Though she respects her devoted family and boyfriend’s opinions, she tends to make decisions with or without their approval. As Maria turns 35, she contemplates whether she can support her parents and the friends who depend on her, while building a family with Keven and having some fun along the way.

On the season premiere, no one celebrates their birthday as hard as Maria when she goes all out with a luau-themed party that includes a star-studded roster of friends such as “Dancing With the Stars” dancer Derek Hough, blogger and television personality Perez Hilton, and Khloe Kardashian from “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” This year Maria’s birthday takes on a big significance; what starts out as a party becomes about facing down the realities of getting older and leads Maria to rethink the way she wants to live her life.
