My Current Skin Care Routine

Lately people have bee asking me what my current skin care routine is and what products I have been using. I am very flattered they ask so I thought I would share them with everyone. Skin care has always been my passion so I tend to try new products all the time. I will share my current fave skin care finds. (mind you I have very oily, acne prone skin so some of these may not work on those whose skin is either dry, combination, or normal) I look at skincare as medication. When you go to the doctor he/she will sometimes give you more than one medication to take. So having 1 or 2 different cleansers and moisturizers may be just what your skin needs.

Ok the first and MOST important part of any skin care routine is….water. No matter if you have any skin type, water will add moisture and a healthy glow to your skin. As it has been proven drinking 8, 8oz glasses of water a day is beneficial to your overall health. If your not a big water drinker start slowly and start gradually increasing your intake. After 2 weeks you will notice an a difference not only in your skin but your body as well. I have always said that beauty starts from the inside so start by cleaning your body of all the toxins. I have also found cutting down on dairy and sugary products has helped as well.

St. Ives

St. Ives

My two favorite cleansers are Syst茅me 41 Gentle Purifying Cleanser and St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub. 5 times a week I use the Systeme 41 Gente Purifying Cleanser to help erase all the everyday makeup, dirt and whatnot that our pores tend to attract. Infused with the Apple Stem cell, Syst茅me 41 is gentle enough for even the most sensitive of skin (if I can use it so can you 馃槈 and is made for all skin types. The other 2 I exfoliate with my St. Ives Apricot Scrub ( people with oily skin should exfoliate at least 2 times a week where people with dry or combination skin should exfoliate at least 3 times a week). Exfoliating not only breaks down dead skin cells but also speeds up the production of sebum (oil) in the skin. Having a little bit of oil is good but an over abundance causes acne.

Murad

Murad

Facial masks are my favorite time of the week. I prefer to use a facial mask on the days I exfoliate to help aid the break down of dead skin and cleansing of the pores. My favorite mask right now is the Aveda Clay Mask. Now this is another product made for oily skin. If you have dry, combination or normal a gel mask is the best for you. The Aveda Clay Mask is left on for ten minutes and sucks out all the debris from inside the pores. The other days I like to use my Murad Intensive C Radiance Peel mask. This mask is made for anti aging but is a great mask to help break down dead skin as well and adding radiance to your skin.

Night Cream S41

Night Cream S41

And last but definitely not least ( and probably the 2nd most important) is moisturizing . I again have 2 moisturizers that I LOVE. The first one is the Syst茅me 41 Day Treatment and Night Treatment. I like using these two from S41 when my skin is not as broken out because they are just a bit heavier than my other one. I am HUGE on anti aging. These two treatments will help slow down the production of fine lines and wrinkles all while keeping your skin soft and supple Just like the cleanser these two are made up of the apple stem cell. My second favorite moisturizer is the St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Moisturizer. I use this one more than the Syst茅me 41 because my skin tends to break out very easily. This one is water based so it is great for all skin types and will not make your face feel greasy. Every morning I feel a difference in my skin even without touching it.

So there is my skin care routine as of now. I hope it helps you with your routine or at least gave you some options to choose from. Remember this is what works for me. Everyone is different so I hope you find these ideas helpful in finding your own skin care routine. I will post a blog soon on facial exercises I do as well that help tighten and tone. For more info on the products I use visit www.systeme41.com, www.stives.com, www.aveda.com and www.murad.com

The Salon Center Presents The Taming of The ‘Do Hair Show

Every year hairstylists from all over Florida gather together to get some awesome continuing education at “The Taming Of The ‘Do” Hair Show in Orlando, Florida. The Salon Center( a salon product representative company) puts on this show were salons and stylist can attend to help enhance their styling skills by learning all about the latest products, cutting, up-dos, and treatment techniques. As a stylist myself I find it very beneficial and inspiring to attend these shows. It helps me remember why I entered the beauty industry. Even though at the moment I am not in a salon, I just want to keep myself up to date on the latest and greatest.

Framessi

Framessi

The beauty industry is an always changing industry. Every single day a stylist walks into a salon there is always something new to learn. Even stylist who have been doing hair for a while are kept up to date on the latest techniques. While there I attended a haircutting class by Framessi which is an Italian company. I also attended an up-do class by White Sands and a product knowledge class by, one of my favorite lines, Neuma (blog about Neuma coming soon)

The greatest thing about these hair shows is not only the education but the people you meet. You just never know who you will bump into. I ran into people I went to beauty school with, people from other countries and new friends. So, next time you enter your salon just think about how knowledgeable your stylist may be. Even if they have not attended this particular show, they probably have attended some form of education before. It’s not an easy industry but if you have a passion for it, it no longer feels like a job its a lifestyle.

It’s “Sais Quoi” Couture Like You Have Never Seen Before

We all have a sense of style all our own, and sometimes we like to share that with the world. At least that is what fashion designer, Gina Sais Quoi, is passionate about. When it comes to fashion Gina is definitely a step ahead of all the others. Starting in her home ec. class is when she first sat down to a sewing machine and from there the rest is history. She is also a licensed stylist, graduate of the Paul Mitchell Academy in Connecticut. While in school she started doing some behind the scenes work on fashion shows, music videos and much more. Gina started designing when she was 14 years old.

Gina Sais Quoi

Gina Sais Quoi

Now sewing completely by hand and with no patterns, Gina organized her first fashion show for a senior project at just 17 years old. She is inspired by the famous store Trash And Vaudeville and anything that is not ordinary for today. When she would travel to New York, she made it a point to go to Trash and Vaudeville. Being that they are a little expense she would recreate, in her own way, her own designs. Aiming towards all shapes and sizes, now every girl can experience couture fashion and each design is original and made to fit you like a glove. Even though Gina does not have one specific person who inspired her to start sewing, she does however take inspiration for her line from different people, and or things. She has been in Florida for 1 1/2 years and will soon be launching her new 2014 Fashion line. Besides fashion design, Gina is an educator at my beauty school, The Salon Professional Academy.

Gina Sais Quoi

Gina Sais Quoi

In 2005, Gina launched Gina Sais Quoi designs. She not only designs clothes she also designs jewelry, handbags, swimsuits and has launched her own fragrance line. Each outfit, depending on detail, can take Gina between 1-14 hours to create. Back in Connecticut she joined the RAW Artists to enhance her line. Now here in Florida, she will be hosting a fashion show in Orlando, Florida for RAW on October 16. This will be her first time working with the Orlando crew. I am honored she has asked me to model for her. For more information on her line and how you can get tickets to see the RAW Artists fashion show visit www.ginasaisquoi.com and www.rawartists.com/ginasaisquoi

When you find the right fragrance it can unleash your inner desires. It can bring out your inner goddess, rocker, Victoria Secret model or anything you imagine yourself to be. It is an expression of the
soul.

Bodycology Instant Attraction

Bodycology Instant Attraction

I have a fragrane that does just that. Instant Attraction Orchid & Pear Moisturizing Body Cream and Fragrance Mist brings out my inner goddess. The rich shea, coconut and jojoba butters give the body cream a great density that adds all day moisture. The fragrance adds the right amount of sexiness too the lotion for an added touch. My favorite thing to do is at night, right after I take my shower, is lather myself in the Instant Attraction lotion while my skin is still damp and let it soak in while the Dark Orchid and Pear surrounds the room. I like to sleep in it so to speak. In the morning after getting dressed I spritz the fragrance mist on and go about my day.

Sleep Your Way To Beautiful Skin

After a long busy day we all seem to find it hard to relax. At least I know I do and in the end our skin can show signs of stress, fatigue and dullness. Our face is the indicator of how we take care of ourselves and while we sleep our cells do a complete turnover giving us fresh rejuvinated skin in the morning. Only thing is as we get older, our cells need a little help. When I was 18 I started using a nighlty moisturizer and have done so religiously every night. Here I am 23 years old and for the first time I have not used my moisturizer BUT I have used another nightly procedure.

Renew You Mask

Renew You Mask

The Renew You Sleep Spa mask is the greatest invention to ever cross the skin care market. For just 10 minutes at night you can have an even brighter morning. With two masks to choose from (Fruit Enzymes and Pure Oils) all skin types can feel replenished. I personally like the Fruit Enzyme Sleep Spa Mask. It contains papaya, pineapple and bamboo to help eliminate dead skin cells from the day. After cleansing your face, place the mask on the contours of your face and let the mask do the rest (you will look funny for a little while). The beauty of this is you don not wash it off. After removing the mask rub excess product in your skin and then go to sleep. In the morning you will feel like a new person.

Get the Look: Christina Hendricks at the 2014 Emmy Awards

See how you can get the hairstyle that celebrity hairstylist Gregory Russell created for Christina Hendricks at the 2014 Emmy Awards.

Christina Hendricks at the Emmys

Christina Hendricks at the Emmys

THE LOOK Modern, luxurious waves

THE BREAKDOWN Here is how Celebrity hairstylist Gregory Russell gave nominee Christina Hendricks textured waves inspired by her red Marchesa Gown for tonight鈥檚 red carpet:

路 To begin, Russell applied John Frieda Luxurious Volume Building Mousse to Christina鈥檚 roots when her hair was damp

路 He then sprayed the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray to her ends and rough dried/scrunched her hair until it was 95% dry

路 Next, Russell created a center part and used a multi bristle flat brush to smooth the hair, without stretching it, so that it had a lot of body.

路 To create the waves, he used a 1-inch flat iron in sections to create texture and body. With a 1.25-inch curling iron, Russell then took small pieces at random and curled away from the face to add both rotation and dimension. For desired volume and shape, he brushed through the lengths of her hair with a wide toothed comb and back combed the underneath.

路 To finish, Russell sprayed John Frieda Luxurious Volume All Day Hold Hairspray for hold and long lasting shine.
