Margot Robbie’s deep side part sleek bob

This sleek style proves that an updo isn’t necessarily the best option for evening wear. Margot Robbie accents her Saint Laurent gown with a sleek, just above the shoulder, deep side part bob.
•Ask your stylist for a cut just above your shoulder with a very subtle slant towards the front
•Part your hair into a deep side part, whichever side suits your face shape best.
•Blow dry smooth and straight, slightly bend the ends so it is not stick straight.
•Finish by using Redken Diamond Oil Airy mist for glossy finish.

Reese Witherspoon’s luxurious smooth wave

•Create a precise middle part
•Blow dry using a large round brush creating a wave throughout the mid-length to the ends.
•Take the section in front of the ear on both sides and smooth back into a small ponytail at the nape.
•With a small oval type brush, blend the back and front together.
•Mist Redken Fashion Works hairspray throughout for versatile hold and shine.

Oscar fashions!

Throughout the entire 87th Academy Awards I could not help but keep looking at all the beautiful fashions. From Faith Hill, Nicole Kidman and Lady Gaga there was something for all of us to admire. Even “Uncle Jessie” lol. Even some very dapper looking gents. All the looks were very elegant and tasteful. I don’t believe in fashion don’ts. Fashion is a way of “speaking” without actually using words. Everyone has their own fashion sense but here are a few that caught my eye!

Straight from the stylist: get the look

Rosamund Pike’s look was a showstopper at last night’s 87th annual Academy Awards.
Her hair was styled exclusively with Oscar Blandi products by Kylee Rae Heath. Here is the breakdown straight from Kylee:

“It was key to have it look easy and untried. We wanted to create tons of texture.”

Kylee Rae Heath

Kylee Rae Heath

TO CREATE THE LOOK:
1. Starting on damp hair I sprayed Oscar Blandi Protein Mist throughout the hair.

2. I then applied Oscar Blandi Hair Lift Mousse and combed the product through.

3. Next, I blew her hair out creating volume and movement. Before using a Sultra 3/4 inch sized barrel and a 1inch sized marcel iron to create texture, I sprayed Oscar Blandi Dry Styling Heat Protect Spray.

4. Once the texture was in place, I used a comb to section from behind the left ear, over the head to the top of the right ear.

5. I pulled the back section into a ponytail. Then, looking in a mirror together, I pulled the front section back to meet the ponytail securing with bobby pins.

6. I sprayed the look into place and twisted the ponytail into a bun and pinned it. Then finished the look with the Pronto Lacca Medium Hold Hairspray and applied the Polish Glossing Creme to the short hair of her undercut.

Make it happen

We all have something that we love and are passionate about. When you attend the Salon Professional Academy in The Villages, FL that passion is all about the beauty industry. 5 years have passed since I was a student there and on Friday Feb. 20 I got to go back, this time as a guest speaker.

I couldn’t believe that I was back in my alma mater giving my story to the next top 20 stylists in the making. It was a true honor. I got to meet many new faces and be reunited with some familiar faces. When I was in school, my educators taught us that this industry has many avenues where you can excel. Holding a cosmetology license can not only lead you to work behind the chair but other aspects of the beauty industry also.

The Salon Professional Academy

The Salon Professional Academy

After I got home it was unbelievable how much the students and staff appreciated me being there. Getting to be an inspiration for them is even more than I expected. I can tell these students are the industries next big thing! Remember guys “if you wake up in the morning and all you can think about is the beauty industry than that’s where you belong”. But most of all always remember to be humble. Don’t be afraid to learn something new, take a chance and most of all just remember to always be you!

So to my readers who are wanting a career in this incredible industry be sure to check out www.thevillagestspa.com and schedule an appt. with Erica or Tyler to visit it for yourself. 🙂

Get the Oscar look of Gwyneth Paltrow

GWYNETH PALTROW: GET THE LOOK WITH JOHN FRIEDA HAIR CARE

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow

THE LOOK: Elegant, polished and refined

INSPIRATION: Inspired by Penelope Tree’s pre-fringe look, celebrity hairstylist Blake Erik gave Gwyneth Paltrow a simple, chic, and beautifully sleek look.

Here is his step-by-step breakdown:
•To begin, Blake washed the hair with John Frieda Frizz Ease Beyond Smooth Frizz Immunity Shampoo and Conditioner.
•Next, he prepped the hair by applying John Frieda Frizz Ease Beyond Smooth Frizz Immunity Primer.
•Then, Blake blowdried her hair straight using a round brush.
•For added sleekness, he flat-ironed hair from the chin down, keeping the lift at the roots from her blowout.
•Next, he created a deep side part and sectioned off the front side of the hair on both sides. The remaining back side of the hair was parted at ear level and pinned up.
•Blake then brushed the front sections back and under the pinned hair. He tied both sections together using a clear elastic band and let the remaining hair fall over the secured sections.
•For a touchable finish, he spritzed John Frieda Frizz Ease Keraflex Flexible Hold Hairspray all over her hair.

Under the sea..”Sais Quoi” style

Seaweed is always greener… at TSPA! Thursday, Feb. 19, The Villages Salon Professional Academy surfaced life from under the sea in a photo shoot competition for fashion designer/ educator Gina Sais Quoi’s line of beautiful fashions! 4 models, 8 students, and a lifetime of memories, Gina held this competition for a chance for her students to experience editorial makeup/hair as well as see whose model will appear on her new fragrance. Now how exciting is that for the students? To be able to have their model showcased on a “Sais Quoi” fragrance bottle!? Dripping with glitter, clothed in shells, TSPA once again rocked the house!

Here are the models and names of the stylists:

I had the honor of being one of Gina’s models Thursday. Gina is a very sweet, beautiful person with a talent that is just through the roof. If you asked me to sum up her dresses in one word it would be…. STUNNING!!!! Every dress and every makeup/ hair look literally had its own theme. Taking Gina’s vision, the personality of each model and the personality/creativity of each student, combining it into one “walking ocean” design, showed that these students will be ready for anything in this industry!

Gina’s show and fragrance launching will be held on April 16 at the Orpheum in Tampa. Stay tuned to my blog for updates on the winner of the photo shoot competition and for the upcoming show! For more info on Gina Sais Quoi Designs visit www.ginasaisquoi.com

And the Oscar goes to…

Ever since I was little I always wondered what it would be like to walk the red carpet. How would I feel with all those cameras. Will I be so excited I can hardly contain myself? But most importantly what would I wear. Me I LOVE sparkle and red so my ideal red carpet look would be including red and silver together. I figure if your going to a show be the showstopper.

Weddington Way

Weddington Way

1. No red carpet look is complete without a beautiful dress. Weddington Way’s Social 8130 dress in Burgundy is my go to red carpet gown. With it’s asymmetrical skirt and mesh like fabric accenting the design is to me a true showstopper. I have always loved asymmetrical looks and with the mesh fabric’s rippling effect I would feel like I’m not walking but gliding down the red carpet. Those photographers wouldn’t know what hit them. hahahaha

Carmen Steffens Victoria

Carmen Steffens Victoria

2. How can you walk a red carpet without shoes? And now it’s time to pull out those sparkles baby! With Carmen Steffens’ “Victoria” style shoes you may just blind someone..with your feet. This line of shoes are very comfortable and have the perfect height when it comes to heels. With just the right amount of sparkle, these heels can go from awards show to after party instantly.

Grandma's jewelry

Grandma’s jewelry

3. We have shoes, we have a dress now it’s time for some jewels and what better jewelry to wear than a family heirloom. These rhinestones belonged to my grandmother. Even though they are very old they give off a certain elegance that, I find, lacks in some of the jewels you see today. Vintage is the new fashion and I think these particular rhinestones will turn any gown into red carpet glory!

Eyehadow

Eyehadow

4. For those countless numbers of photos, a perfect makeup look is required. I say accentuate your best feature and I find mine to be my eyes. With this bold silver and black look the whole outfit ties together. Eye makeup, when chosen and put on right, can bring out every color you have chosen. Black and red always go well together and of course the silver tie giving this look an amazing photographic look. On the red carpet its all about those pictures.

Hair accessory

Hair accessory

5. With my hair being shorter sometimes being able to give it a pretty style can be hard but when you add an accessory it’s all good! I chose this red and grayish flower clip to help show of the red in the dress but help tie in the silver.

Crackle nails

Crackle nails

6. Last and definitely not least…NAILS!!! Snap, crackle and POP with some crackle nails. The perfect combo of silver with red crackle is the best finisher for my red carpet look. Its simple yet bold making this whole outfit scream “look at me”.

So there it is. My “one of a kind” red carpet look. Red, silver and black you ain’t going back. Work it COVERGIRL! For more info on the dress visit http://www.weddingtonway.com/all/bridesmaid-dresses.
