Live it, love it, create it

Your beauty is their passion! Hair & Nail Creations Salon in Wildwood, FL is all about giving their clients the the best of the best with no exceptions. Owner/ stylist Annette Campetela Fredericks opened her 18 years ago and has become one of the most visited salons in the area. With 6 chairs 3 nail techs and one eststichian walking into Hair & Nail Creations feels like your right at home.

annette2

While in the salon last week, everyone from the receptionist to Annette herself was all smiles, laughing and really making the whole place feel inviting. That to me is a salon that you can just tell cares. They care that their clients will walk out with a smile and they care about themselves as stylists to make sure that always happens. Continuing education, attending trade shows and even influening the stylists to watch how to videos in the back room. That shows that even the greats now that there is always something to impress on.

Even in the midst of wanting to be the best salon they can be, Hair & Nail Creations also opens their arms to support other salons. Having friends who own their own salons, Annette said something that shows just what a success she really is. She said she would rather be the person who helps others get to the top of the ladder than be famous for doing it. She has done that. Tsking one of her stylists from the backroom to the showroom who is now working as an editorial stylist & not asking for anything in return. (accept awesome hair lol) That to me is the true definition of success.

So next time you are in Wildwood FL or just to check out more on Annette and her team check out www.hairandnailcreations.com and follow them on FB!

Vintage spring cleaning on Studio 10

With springtime right around the corner its time to start tackling those pesky household chores. Today I shared some tips on how to make those household chores quick, safe and can also help save money. So let’s get our “June Cleaver” on and start cleaning!

Studio 10

Watch the segment here: http://www.wtsp.com/videos/entertainment/2015/03/23/70328616/

First off you want to protect your hands from any loss of hydration with a skin shielding product like Gloves in a Bottle. One quick spray will help lock in moisture and take the place of Grandma’s Old Yellow gloves. Believe it or not the overuse of water can take away moisture in the hands.

Start your cleaning off with baking soda. Baking soda is a very versatile product that can be used indoors and out. Use it in your pool to help maintain the pH balance. For example: if your pH balance is 7.2 add 2-3 lbs of baking per 10,000 gallons of water. Not only can you use it for the pool but use it to clean your pots, pans your bathroom and so much more. It’s a safe and effective way to clean and will not harm your pets or your children.

Vinegar water is one of my favorite ways to clean my toilet bowl and the mirrors in my bathroom. Take vinegar of your choice Add 1/2 vinegar to 1/2 water and mix together. This will help clean mirrors in your bathroom without leaving streaks. For the toilet bowl, add some vinegar to your toilet bowl and let it set overnight. In the morning you will have streak free bowls. Also, vinegar can be used to help clean your shower head.

After cleaning your mirrors you can help eliminate steam buildup which will cause more dirt to your mirrors by using shaving cream. Take your shaving cream and shake it up. Apply a thin layer to your mirror and allow it to stay. While you are waiting for it to for it to do its job, try it out with a hot shower or allow steam into the room. This will help the shaving cream absorb unto the mirror for future use.

Now that we have cleaned let’s get organized. Take an extra jewelry organizer and instead of storing jewelry use it to organize all those cords we have from laptop, kindles, iPads, cell phones etc. Use a label maker to label which cord is which. Then also use the other side for little knick knacks such as pens, notepads, post its etc. This is also great in the kids room for Barbie’s shoes, accessories, and little parts to any toy boys or girls.

Last but not least organize your closet with a shoe organizer. Get a shoe organizer that hangs from the rod and use this to store notebooks, cards, remotes, you can also use it to store some of your hair tools, products etc. It’s another great small toy organizer and also can be used for those foam sandals we all seem to have so much of here in Florida but never quite know where to put them. The sections are big enough to store more than one thing but be sure not to exceed the weight limit of the rod in your closet.

Jamacian grilled chicken wings recipe

I love trying out new recipes and when I came across this recipe I could not resist! So simple and easy to do. Can be baked or grilled! For more on this recipe and others check out www.bahamabreeze.com ENJOY!!!!

Chicken Wings

Chicken Wings

APPETIZERS, SIDES, SOUPS & SALADS
JAMACIAN GRILLED CHICKEN WINGS
Serves: 6

INGREDIENTS:
Jerk marinade (your favorite) 3 cups
Garlic, chopped 3 Tbsp
Thyme, fresh chopped 1 Tbsp
Allspice, ground 1 tsp
Water 1 cup
Scallions, sliced 1/8″ 4 Tbsp
Chicken Wings whole, thawed 5 pounds
Jerk Seasoning Dry* as needed

MARINATING PROCEDURE
Add the jerk marinade, garlic, thyme, allspice, water, and scallions in a large bowl and mix well using a whip to evenly combine the ingredients. Add the chicken wings to the marinade, cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator on the bottom shelf.
Tips
##Make sure the chicken wings are fully thawed this helps the chicken to fully absorb the marinade.
##Marinate the chicken wings for 18 to 24 hours before cooking. The longer the marinating time, the more flavorful the wings will become.

COOKING PROCEDURE
After marinating is complete, remove the wings from the marinade and place in a clean bowl. Lightly season the wings with the dry jerk seasoning and lay on a sheet pan with the wing tips face down. Bake the wings at 350ºF for 20 – 25 minutes or until fully cooked. Remove from the oven and place in the refrigerator to chill to 40ºF.

Tips
Make sure the wings are drained well after being removed from the marinade or the seasoning will not fully adhere to the wings.
The wings are cooked with the wing tips face down, to allow more even cooking and removal of excess fat from the chicken skin.
By pre-cooking the wings this prevents flare-ups on the grill during the final grilling procedure

GRILLING PROCEDURE
Heat your gas or charcoal grill to medium heat. Place the chilled wings on the grill and grill for 2 ½ – 3 minutes on each side. The skin of the wings should develop a crisp texture and a mahogany like color. Make sure the wings are fully heated to 165ºF.

Tips
Wings can also be placed on the grill directly from the oven to express the cooking process.
Allspice or pimento leaves can be placed on the grill during the grilling process to give the wings a light smoked flavor.

Serve hot with your favorite beverage. (recipe & picture courtesy of Bahamabreeze.com)
