Head Back to School with Collegiate Brows
August, 2014 (New York, NY) – Heading off to university and not able to maintain the regular monthly brow shaping appointments? Boom Boom, owner of Boom Boom Brow Bar, says “Get a professional wax before you leave and then take matters into your own hands with these tweezing tips….just remember, the biggest mistake people make is tweezing too much, so avoid over plucking, it can take months for brows to grow back,”
BEFORE diving in, do the homework: The space between brows should be equal to, or a little wider than eyes. Take an eye shadow brush and hold it parallel to the side of the nose, where the brush meets the brow is where the brow should begin. Then, extend the brush diagonally from the nostril, following the outside edge of the eye toward the brow – where the inside edge of the brush hits is where the brow should end. The best brows have a slight arch, hold the brush parallel to the outside edge of the colored part of the eye, where the brush meets the brow is where the highest part of the brow should be.
Give it the old college try…
1. Always have a plan (see above) and pair of clean sharp tweezers. Having a mirror in your room might be better than heading to the dorm bathroom, let ‘em think you were born with your FAB brows.
2. Use Boom Boom’s Push Up brow highlighting pencil (or a white eyeliner) to draw how you want brows to look – follow the shape your professional created before you left. Remember the 3 basics, 1) do not make them too far apart in the center – brows should start at the inside corner of the eye, 2) identify where the arch is and make sure to not over tweeze on the brow bone, it should be a straight line, 3) brows should not be too short length-wise, take it easy on the tweezing, better safe than sorry.
3. Tweeze anything below and above the line – remove the liner and you should have a clean brow that is not over-tweezed. If not, fill in with a Boom Boom Brow Boostier brow powder

Now that summertime is over, it’s time for us to switch gears and start looking ahead towards the coming months of Fall and Winter. A change in climate also means a change in our daily beauty routine. Here are some of my favorite tips!
Preventing flaky, dry skin.
Most of us associate wearing SPF with summertime or being under direct sunlight when in fact, the sun is always out, even when it’s barely visible behind the clouds. Wearing SPF when leaving the house is an absolute must! Sunscreen prevents free radical damage to the skin and can delay the aging process along with a healthy diet free of simple carbs, sugar, excess salt, and dairy. Along with combatting dry skin, I usually take an Omega-3 supplement which boosts hydration. If you’re not the kind of person to be militant about taking supplements, I recommend consuming a diet rich in good fatty acids like avocados, almonds, fish, kale, and flaxseed.
Preventing dry hair, dry scalp.
Cold weather is synonymous with having dull and brittle hair. To keep your hair soft, healthy, and strong throughout the colder months, refrain from shampooing as frequently as shampoo can strip your hair of its natural oils, causing the glands to overproduce. If you can’t stand to go for days without washing your hair, I recommend a dry shampoo. I also like to add a little bit of hair oil (Moroccan Oil makes a great one) before my hair dries to prevent split ends and add moisture. Finally, if all else fails, use a homemade hair mask. A simple, effective hair mask I use is one made of ½ cup of plain yogurt. I simply massage it into damp hair and leave it in for half an hour after which I rinse it out with warm water. The lactic acid in yogurt helps add moisture to your hair while cleaning as well.

Never Sink Again in Solemates High Heeler

I attended an outdoor wedding and Solemates High Heelers were absolutely perfect for walking in the grass, standing for hours in the grass, and even walking on a cobblestone pathway with my high heels. They prevented my heels from sinking into the lawn all day long! They also prevented my heels from getting ruined from falling in between the cracks of the wooden deck, we later gathered on! Solemates gave me balance and stability to even my highest of heels especially on all the uneven surfaces that I conquered like grass, brick patios, wooden decks and cobblestone pathways. Solemates fit nice and snug on to my heels with no slipping at all and stayed secure in place the entire time I wore them! I actually felt safer dancing with them on! The flexible material grips securely without damaging the heel of the shoe! Easy to put on and easy to take off to reuse over and over again!!! You don’t even realize they are on! They are barely noticeable when worn! The only noticeable thing was everyone else was sinking and having a hard time in the grass and I was not!
