Bachelor Party Ideas For the Outdoorsman

Your friends come in all shapes, sizes and kinds – some are more comfortable playing video games for hours on end, while others pursue a more cultured lifestyle, with wine-tasting, art exhibits and such. And then there are those friends that are at their absolute happiest when they’re surrounded by nature.

These friends like getting their hands dirty, feeling the brisk air in their face and working up a sweat – and, honestly, all the power to them. But that means, when it comes time to plan their bachelor party, you need to ditch the traditional ideas, like bars and strip clubs.

There’s nothing an outdoorsman wants more than a brawny bachelor party, something primal and exciting that removes them from the nitpicky work of planning a wedding. For the outdoorsman buddy in your life, try one of these four bachelor party ideas.

Fishing

A classic outdoor activity, perfect for a meditative day of pondering the meaning of life… or, you know, knocking back a few cans of beer and getting a sunburn. Whichever way you do it, fishing is a fun way for friends to get together and spend some quality outdoor time. But remember to get your licenses in advance, even if you’re just catch-and-releasing (although it differs state to state).

Axe Throwing

Although not strictly an outdoor activity, this insanely fun new sport captures the spirit of the great outdoors, in true lumberjack fashion. What makes axe throwing, and the related sport, such cool ideas for a bachelor party is that they combine that badass-ness of hurling an axe with the competitive element of a game like darts or bowling. Players take turns throwing a real axe at a wooden target, in round robin style competition, to see whose strength and aim rein supreme.

Heli-Skiing

Why wait for a ski lift when you could get a helicopter to take you wherever you want? That’s the basic premise behind heli-skiing, a type of skiing that allows you to chart new and uncombed parts of a mountain range. It’s not for everyone (everyone will have to sing some serious waivers), but the outdoorsman in your life will likely appreciate it. If heli-skiing is too much for everyone, there’s always regular old skiing!

White Water Rafting

White water rafting is even more fun than it sounds. Strap your life jacket on, leave your cell phone behind (or pack it in a seriously impenetrable bag), and get your buddies together for a wild ride through the rapids. This extreme outdoor activity is all about teamwork, as everyone works their hardest to row and navigate through the treacherous waters. You might capsize, and you’ll almost definitely get drenched, but it will all be worth it

Planning a bachelor party is all about catering to the groom-to-be’s personality. You don’t want to trap an outdoorsy person in a club all night, because they probably won’t have that much fun. Instead, try one of these four outdoor ideas, and make it a bachelor party to remember.
