OKLAHOMA CITY NATIONAL MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM
April 19, 1995. This date will go down in infamy in United States history. 168 people were killed when a bomb ripped through the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building at the hands of a domestic terrorist. Included in the victim count were 19 children who were at the building’s daycare center. The moving museum delivers an expansive history of the day and its long-lasting effects on the nation’s psyche. Outside of the museum, visitors will find the Field of Empty Chairs. This touching component of the museum honors every victim of the attack with an individual chair embossed with their name. The memorial is especially moving at night when the lights of the Gates of Time illuminate the experience.
SCIENCE MUSEUM OKLAHOMA
Covering more than eight acres, this attraction boasts an imaginative look at a myriad of science fields. People of all ages will appreciate the focus on a bevy of topics, including astronomy, engineering, aviation, and art. Included in the museum are a planetarium, a two-story tree house, and a 20,000-square-foot city replica. In addition to the many exhibits, the complex also boasts a gift shop and cafe.
