As you can see, I have curly hair and brushing curls can be problematic, more so than those with straight hair. Below you will find some fabulous tips from Sam Villa which helped me out a lot with detangling. Curly hair or straight hair, tangles are everywhere and this tops work.
May, 2016 (New York, NY) – One of the reasons professional hairstylists are so valuable is because they know cool tricks. Sam Villa, founder of Sam Villaâ and Education Artistic Director for Redken 5th Avenue NYC, has an easy trick for removing tangles with a paddle brush that is sure to stop the tears!

“The trick is to understand the positioning and design of the paddle brush. When held horizontally, the pins do not align, they’re more like a forest of trees, yet when held vertically, the pins are perfectly aligned in rows so they grab hair more uniformly allowing it to glide through removing tangles with ease,” says Villa.
How To:
Hold a Sam Villa Signature Series Paddle Brush vertically (pins lined up) and only use the first few rows of pins, gently brush in a downward motion. When the pins are aligned, less rows are used and tangles come out with less effort and tension, preventing pulling and/or creating more tangles which can lead to breakage.
