“Big and bold is still the news for brows, but now they’re feathered,” says Tammy Fisher, brow expert at Boom Boom Brow Bar.
The feathered brow is softer and more feminine, because hair is trimmed less and brushed up in the front to create a feathered look. Usually longer brow hairs are trimmed, creating a solid defined line where cut, but the new feathered trend lets the majority of those longer hairs stand true, especially in the beginning of the brow. The diffused line it creates softens the shape of the brow and creates a more natural look. It was all over the runways…so brows are still big and bold, but the feathering makes them fresh and feminine.
Fisher advises growing brows in for about 4 to 6 weeks, until nice and full and then have them professionally shaped, while still keeping them as full as possible. They can be trimmed slightly, but hair has to be left long and irregular enough to achieve the feathered effect.
Maintaining Feathered Brows
· Brush brows up with a spoolie and set with a brow gel – try Boom Boom Brow-ssiere brow gel, it keeps brows set all day and never flakes!
· Get a brow tint – what good are those long hairs if you can’t see them? A tint will maximize the feathered effect.
· ALWAYS apply a brow powder with an angled brush to add color and definition, and always apply powder before applying gel.
