Pumpkins really have multiple uses and they are not just for carving into jack-o-lanterns. They can also be used to serve your food in for a party, as an ice chest to chill wine or sparkling cider for the kids, an individual bowl to serve pumpkin soup in or how about using them to display a spooky floral centerpiece in? Yes, all of these work and create the perfect festive Halloween decor for your home or party. Here’s how you do it yourself.
Supplies: White or Orange Pumpkin, Carving knife, Spoon. (Optional: You can pray paint or use acrylic paint to paint your pumpkin your desired color.)
To make a spooky floral centerpiece select a pumpkin that is the same height and wider than your vase. Next, carve an opening at the top of your pumpkin that slightly wider than your vase and gut your pumpkin. Arrange your floral centerpiece in the vase and place in your pumpkin! What a unique, yet simple floral table centerpiece!
To create a pumpkin soup bowl select small pumpkins, carve an opening at the top and then gut your pumpkin. When you are ready to serve your soup just pour it right into each pumpkin bowl, put the cut top with stem back onto your pumpkin and present your soup to your guests!
To serve up your food, such as chips or salad, or to use as an ice chest, select a pumpkin that is larger than the bowl or beverages you wish to put into the pumpkin to keep chilled. Simply carve an opening at the top of your pumpkin that slightly wider than your bowl and gut your pumpkin so that your bowl will rest comfortably inside. Place your bowl and food inside your pumpkin and display for your guests! To use as an ice chest select a larger pumpkin and follow the same steps above, add ice, your beverages and you are ready to go!
I hope you have fun making these simply DIY projects and enjoy every bewitching hour of planning your perfect spooky party for Halloween 2015.
