Exfoliating is the removal of surface dry skin cells. Most people focus on exfoliating their legs and arms and don’t realize your hands and especially your feet need to be exfoliated as well. Your hands and feet must be exfoliated in different ways. See below for some at-home remedies from As U Wish Salon Owner, Skyy Hadley to keep your hands and feet silky smooth.
Coconut Sugar Smooth Hand Scrub:
If your hands feel dry and rough, especially the palms, knuckles, and fingertips, exfoliating several times per week should improve their condition relatively quickly. Exfoliating hands also helps to even out skin tone which is often a common problem with hands, especially as we age. Create a scrub like the one below to exfoliate and moisturize your hands.
Ingredients:
Coconut oil (Tbl Spoon)
Sugar (3/4 Cup)
Olive oil (Tbl Spoon)
Stir mixture together in small jar. Take handful of the scrub and rub into hands. Leave on for a few minutes and rinse in warm water. Follow with a hand moisturizer of your choice. It’s best to do this before bed at night to avoid using your hands a lot after.
Mint and Tea Tree Oil Foot Scrub
Feet require a more intense treatment to get rid of dead skin. Foot calluses can develop due to daily pressure from workouts, walking and wearing heels. Look for a scrub with a thicker consistency and rougher ingredient included, like sea salt. And after a little pumice stone use, your feet can feel soft, smooth and sandal-ready.
Ingredients:
· Organic Apricot Oil (Tbl Spoon)
· Sea salt (3/4 cups)
· Tea tree essential oil
· Peppermint essential oil
Stir mixture together in small jar. Take handful of the scrub and rub on to the balls of your feet and heels. Use a pumice stone to work the scrub on to the feet. Do this for a few minutes on each foot then rinse off with warm water. Apply a heel and foot lotion to the feet and wear socks immediately after to lock in the moisture
