It’s time to bump up the moisturizer with “Made from Earth” Creme Therapy

Auric Blends Himalayan Musk smells better than I ever Imagined

My mom has been telling me about a solid perfume she wanted me to try. It’s called Himalayan Musk from Auric Blends (auricblends). I love all kinds of perfumes but never had a musk scent. When I think of musk oils and musk scents, I think of perfumes from my mother’s generation, somewhat of an older person’s scent. Was I wrong about that thought. Florida Fashion Weekend: Recap

Fashion, food, and friends, a few of my favorite things were all tied together last Saturday night at Fashion E.D.G.E., Florida Fashion Week. The Vanity Nightclub in Orlando, FL was all hustle & bustle with excited designers, models, and judes. I was so excited to attend. I met many new people, saw some beautiful, unique fashions and discovered a little more about the “nightlife”. Florida Fashion Week showcased fashions from designers like, MdizCollections, Xanimichi Roy’el, ZHE YANG, SewInVogue, The Lion Of Art, and Kala Express. Also, featured a panal of judges, Ms. Latina International Angela Posillico, host Jimmy Star from Miami’s “The Jimmy Star Show” and host Jorge Alvarado of Tampa’s “The Jorge Show”.

Florida Fashion Week is put on twice a year, for spring lines & fall lines, by Fierce Entertainment Management (this is its second year). Fashion E.D.G.E.(Emerging Designer Gauntlet Exhibit) is a competition with some prizes that these designers surely fought for. A plaque, interview in Orlando Fashion Magazine, interview on “The Jorge Show” and guaranteed in Orlando International Fashion Week designer lineup. That makes me want to start my own line just so I can have the chance to compete lol. As the models graced the runway, I became even more excited. Each line had it’s own unique twist. I have always loved and had an eye for fashion so to get to be here I think some of them belong on the red carpet or even in Vogue.

So I bet you are wondering who was the lucky winner that will walk away with all these prizes? Give it up for Mdiz Collection! Meleissa Dunkley-Hampton, owner/designer wowed the audience with her collection. But Jorge had one more little surprise for her…he is going to feature the winner along w/ the stars of Project Runway! If I were Meleissa I would so be on cloud 9. Congratulations Meleissa.

So even though this Florida Fashion Weekend’s second year, it has definitely made its mark. Getting to meet and make new friends was the highlight of my evening. I met Jorge Alvarado of “The Jorge Show”, an up & coming fashion Designer who will have her show in Orlando, Fl on March 29, and so many more. I think we will see more Florida Fashion Weekend throughout the years and all I can say is YES!!!!!

Save money & have fun…doing laundry

My daughter received a gift of “Wooly Mates” and she gave them to me since I normally wash the clothes. I read the bag that they came in and it said to use them instead of softener sheets in my dryer. I didn’t really think that they would do much, but I was almost out of softener sheets, so I thought I would give them a try. I absolutely love them! Our clothes have no static, they are just as soft as always, there are no conflicting perfume smells and I don’t have to remember to add a dryer sheet each time I use the dryer. The “Wooly Mates” are left in the dryer to use time and time again. I don’t know how many dryer cycles they will continue to work so well with, but the website said hundreds. Works for me!

The Chair Workout

Equipment Needed:

Chair

No shoes needed!

        1st Workout Single leg squat with extension

Place both hands on the top of chair

Lean forward on the chair putting a little weight on your arms

Legs hip width apart

Bring your right knee up toward your chest – your left leg is bent (squat)

Swing your right leg back to full extension repeat swinging motion (30 seconds)

         2nd Workout Pulses Plie Squats

Place one hand on top of chair one hand above head

Place both heels firmly together

Raise up on the balls of your feet

Lower yourself in a squat position and pulse

Switch arms half way through 15 seconds total time (30 seconds)

      3rd Workout Calf raises

Place both hands on the top of chair

Stand hip width apart

Raise to the balls of your feet as high as you can and pulse (30 seconds)

I cannot wait to meet new people, models, photographers etc. There is going to be live entertainment, fashion shows and so much more! Stay tuned for a recap on the show coming up on Monday. Make Your Own Easy Peachy-Pink Lipstick

You will need:

  •   4 oz Lipstick Base
  •   .2 oz Coral Mica
  •   .2 oz Brick Red Oxide
  •   .2 oz Rose Pearl Mica
  •   .2 oz Cellini Red Mica
  •   24 Lipstick Tubes with Lids
  •   1 Small Glass Bowl
  •   5 Droppers
  •   Finished Labels & Instructions
  •   1-2 Heat Safe Containers
  •   3 Spoons
  •   1 Cup Hot Water
  •   Measuring Spoons
  •   Microwave
  •   Paper Towels
  •   Freezer (optional)

Here is how to do it: 

Step 1: Put two spoons in the freezer. It may sound crazy, but this trick is going to allow you to test the lipstick color before it has fully hardened.

Step 2: Scoop the lipstick base out of the plastic container and add it to the small, heat safe container that comes in the box. Melt the base in the microwave on 30 second bursts, stirring in between bursts until fully melted. Please be careful when taking the container out of the microwave, it will be hot (use pot holders or paper towels).

Note: It is important that you melt the lipstick base in the bowl that comes in the box (or something equivalent in size). If you use a bigger heat safe container you’ll run the risk of cracking the glass in the microwave. Safety first!

Step 3: Split the mixture between the two small heat safe containers—about ¼ cup in each container. Then begin adding colorant(s) of choice to the first container and mix thoroughly with a spoon until clumps have dissipated.

Colorant usage rate: 4 to 5 level teaspoons of colorant per 2 ounces of lipstick base—about ¼ cup. For the perfect peachy-pink, try Anne-Marie’s custom recipe, “Lady About Town”: 2.5 level teaspoons Rose Pearl Mica, 2 level teaspoons Coral Mica. Use ¼ cup of lipstick base for this recipe.

Step 4: Once the color seems to be fully incorporated into the lipstick base, take your frozen spoons out of the freezer and dip the tip of the spoon into the liquid lipstick mixture. The lipstick mixture will instantly harden on the tip of the spoon so you can test the color on the top of your hand or your lips. Now is the time to color correct. If the lipstick shade is too light, add more colorant. If the lipstick shade is too dark, add more lipstick base to lighten.

Step 5: Once you’ve decided on your perfect shade, it’s time to pour the mixture into the lipstick tubes. Using a spouted heat safe container, slowly and carefully pour the lipstick mixture into the tubes or use your droppers to fill up 12 of the tubes. Let cool for 1-2 hours.

Note: If you use the droppers to fill your lipstick tubes, cut off about a ½ inch of the tip of the dropper for easier use. “Clean” your dropper immediately in a cup of hot water so it can be reused. If the mixture hardens, squeeze the lipstick out of the dropper like you would squeeze a tube of toothpaste. Did your mixture get hard or a little too thick while you were color correcting? Not to worry. Just pop it back in the microwave for 15-30 seconds. Reheat as needed.

Step 6: Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 with the rest of lipstick base.

Step 7: Clean up! Wipe down the bowls and spoons with a paper towel before putting them in the sink and do not dump any extra oils down your sink. Use a grease fighting soap, like Dawn, and super-hot water to wash the utensils and bowls.
