Choosing a health plan is a major financial decision, yet a new Cigna survey found more than half of consumers don’t dedicate enough time to choosing a plan. In fact, more than half of the people surveyed said they spend less than an hour choosing health plans.
This does not to imply that people are not concerned about their health care. In fact, the survey uncovered major anxiety about financial health that goes far beyond making health plan choices this fall.
For example, the survey found:
• 75% fear health care costs could ruin prospects for a secure retirement
• 44% worry health care costs will limit ability to pay for a child’s college
• 80% say they wish “doing healthier things didn’t cost so much.”
What consumers may not realize is how health plans can help them with those challenges through useful resources and tools.
In this video Dr. Scott T. Josephs, Vice President and National Medical Officer of Cigna discusses this crucial survey. Dr. Josephs give us tips on choosing a health plan, and he can also discuss the link between health and financial security.
