Laura Scherler is the Director of Financial Stability at United Way Worldwide. During her nine-year tenure, Laura has led the creation and implementation of several multi-million dollar initiatives designed to increase the financial stability of low and moderate-income families. Laura currently leads United Way’s free tax preparation initiatives and was one of the creators of the MyFreeTaxes partnership.

Don’t be afraid to file your taxes! It is imperative that you submit your tax return by April 15th to avoid fines and penalties. Any extension permitted by the IRS, is purely an extension on time to file the correct paper work, not an extension to pay any taxes owed. Your payment is still due at the April deadline.
