I Never Knew “TIME” Could Smell So Good

Maintaining perfectly shaped eyebrows is a cinch, but before they can be perfectly shaped, there has to be something to shape. Boom Boom can talk anyone off a ledge! She knows there’s no such thing as natural beauty, but she also knows that bad habits don’t help, so avoid these mistakes and your brows will look REAL, REAL good!

1. OVER PLUCKING– brows that are too thin, have gaps, are too short or start too far from the center of the nose. Put the tweezers down and see a PROFESSIONAL

Debbie Durkin's Eco-Emmy Gifting Suite

I have always enjoyed the glitz and glam of the Emmy’s. There are always so many exciting events held in conjunction with the big awards night. This last week I attended the Debbie Durkin Gifting Suite, a pre-Emmy’s soiree that was bustling with action. The Durkin Entertainment Group sure knows how to throw a great party and this one was no exception. Upon arrival at the beautiful Hancock Park estate, I was greeted with a flurry of food and drinks-all of which I thoroughly enjoyed.

The event highlighted its eco-friendly theme not only in its selection of foods but also the products featured. From vegan ice cream to delicately crafted sweets to organic foods and drinks, the event also featured new designers and their line of apparel. I absolutely loved the Deborah Gaspar jewelry line and the handcrafted style statement pieces!

I had so much fun getting acquainted with the many creative enterprises featured at the event. The wide variety of products included: energy drinks, food, chic sunglasses, travel luggages, and certificates to massages, facials, and exercise classes. I also had my makeup done at the Mac makeup counter, which was a huge treat, and received a smoky eye kit for when I want to create that glamorous evening look. All of the guests present went home with so many different products-and I must say, it was quite overwhelming carting off all my new goodies! Some of my favorite products included this pair of Serengeti Sunglasses-chic, but basic and practical for everyday wear.

I also enjoy my new statement luggage from Traveler’s Choice-I know that I’ll be making use of it on weekend getaways.

The event also boasted a wide variety of services-from massages to skin rejuvenation to body sculpting. ioBella offered a spa voucher as well as a private body consultation. Thank you to the Durkin Entertainment Group for an exciting and wonderful day! I can’t wait for the next one.

To compliment Brooke’s Structured Herve Leger dress, Jonathan Hanousek created this Relaxed Romantic Faux Bob.

To create volume and body and hold I applied Wen Pomegranate Nourishing Mousse to towel dried hair.  I used my fingers to create a side part and scrunched waves into the hair. I blow dried the hair with medium heat using a diffuser touching the hair as little as possible while drying so that the waves stay silky and soft.

Using a 1” curling iron I refined the curls on the surface and around the face. To maintain a natural texture I curled each piece of hair in the direction it had dried. Next, I applied a dime size amount of Wen Pomegranate Finishing Treatment Crème throughout the hair to give definition and separation to the curls. Afterwards, I loosely gathered the hair into a ponytail just above the shoulders twisting the pony up. I pinned the pony band at the nape with bobbie pins and created an anchor for my twisted bun. Then I wrapped up the remaining ends and secured with more pins tucking one side loosely behind the ear. My tip is to always check in the mirror tso everything is balanced. To complete the look, pin up any stray curls that seem out of place but don’t over think it. To ensure the hair stays in place for the long night ahead, I finished everything off with White Sands Stuck Up Mega Hold Hairspray

Emmy Awards: Claire Danes + John Frieda

Celebrity hairstylist Peter Butler was the visionary behind Claire Dane’s statement-making look at the 65th Annual Emmy Awards tonight. Using John Frieda Hair Care, Peter gave the actress a short faux bob that helped to elongate her neck in her stunning Armani Prive Gown. See below for the steps he took to create her classic and sophisticated look.

 

US-ENTERTAINMENT-EMMY AWARDS-ARRIVALS

Step 1 – Prep

Peter applied a few pumps of the Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Formula Hair Serum ($9.99 at drugstores) through Claire’s wet hair and then added Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Styling Mousse ($6.99 at drugstores) before blow-drying to give the hair more texture for better workability and hold.

Step 2 – Style

Next, Peter gave Claire a low side part and used a large-barreled curling iron to curl the Homeland star’s hair inward, which Peter noted also helped to smooth out her hair’s texture. Peter then created two small pin curls at the nape of Claire’s neck and combed the top of her hair down and under, pinning as needed into the base.

Step 3 – Perfect

Peter finished off the look by tucking the hair on the left side of Claire’s head behind her ear and spritzing Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray  ($5.99 at drugstores) for hold. To ensure that Claire’s bob glistened under all the lights on the red carpet, Peter also applied a sheer coat of John Frieda Frizz-Ease 100% Shine ($5.99 at drugstores).

Leiyana’s nails Inspired by the Disney Movie “Up”

0-88For this nail design I used the color dreamer from Revlon. This color is one of my favorites and I use it for a lot of different designs. Then I used a white nail art polish to make the clouds. And for the house I used a bunch of colors from Sally Hansen the Complete Salon Manicure. Sally Hansen the complete salon manicure is one of my favorite nail polish brands. It’s a lot easier than other nail polishes because I don’t have to use a top or bottom coat and it leaves a really nice finish. I also used Sally Hansen for the balloons and I used a dotting tool. I really love Disney Pixar movies so I thought this was a good idea.

My Christian Louboutins are my Glass Slippers

Shoes have always been featured as a girl’s best friend…….. Cinderella’s glass slipper and Carrie, a New York girl, obsessed with shoes in Sex and the City were a few of my favorites.  A new pair of shoes brings on a kind of exhilaration to the female gender.  My very first pair of Christian Louboutin shoes were given to me by my husband one Christmas morning, who, by the way has unbelievable taste. A very very nice surprise.  After removing the wrapping paper, I knew right away what brand of shoes they were (the box reveiled the content)!  Shaking with excitement, I transported the shoes out of the box to eye level!  I sat there for at least 15 minutes just staring at the shoes!  Christian Louboutin New Nude Simple Pump 120 Patent Calf shoes!

Christian Louboutin is a French designer who designed shoes for Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, and Maud Frizon before opening his own business.  Louboutin brought the stilettos back into fashion in the 1900’s ranging the heel heights of 4.72 inches and higher!  His goal was to make a woman’s legs look as long as he could. His signature shoes have shiny, red-lacquered soles which took some time to convince myself it was “ok” to wear them outside and mark the bottom of the shoes.  I thought for that amount of money, I would be happy just to display them on my dresser. Christian Louboutin New Simple Pump 120 Patent Calf Shoe has a heel height of 4 1/2 inches.  I can wear these shoes with any outfit and they make quite a statement!  I do agree, they make my legs look long and amazing!  Patent leather with leather lining and padded insole makes the comfort of these shoes irresistible. Always remember the right pair of shoes can make a wrong situation more tolerable.  For example….. while attending my niece’s wedding wearing my Christian Louboutin shoes, I left the ladies room not knowing I was dragging a foot long piece of toilet paper. Walking across the dance floor while everyone was seated enjoying their meal, a complete stranger approached me informing me of my third leg. I was totally embarrassed. Then there was the stare at my feet and the conversation quickly changed as she complimented my shoes!  She loved them and another woman drifted into the discussion. My red face altered back to my original color and the toilet paper issue was forgotten. My Christian Louboutin shoes make me feel elegant, complete my outfits, and of course makes me taller!
