Growing up living in a household of New York Yankee fans, conversation at the dinner table in the 70’s and 80’s was about the huge rivalries with the Royals. Arguing back and forth about their past championships and their high payroll, no one was singing “Sweet Caroline”. My dad, a talent Italian musician, had one rule… not only did you have to bring home a Italian date but they had to be a true New York Yankees Fan too! That’s very hard to find growing up in the New England area. When my date walked through the door to take me out, my dad didn’t ask what time will you bring home my daughter….. the first question was ” Name at least five New York Yankees players”. I had many boyfriends studying the New York Times sports section as they wanted to impress my dad in hope for another date with me. Thinking back and laughing at these special memories, makes me agree, my dad the greatest winner of all just like the New York Yankees!
