An online poll finds a link between aging and thinning eyelashes ~ If you are experiencing this problem a solution for beautiful full lashes is once again possible!

HealthyWomen.org took an online poll of 1,193 women living in the United States in May of 2012 regarding aging and the effect it had on their eyes and eyelashes. The age range of the women surveyed was 35 to 60 years old.

A person’s eyes can really give away their age, and 80% of the polls participants, though they felt that their eyes were their best feature, realized that the eye area was indeed quite prone to show aging! Not only with skin changes around their eyes, but also with their eyelashes.

I personally shared a common understanding with these women as over the years, just as they had indicated, I noticed that my eyelashes not only appeared shorter to me, but had become more sparse and thinner than they used to be! Reading on, what I found interesting was that most of the women seemed to accept the thinning lashes at part of the aging process and didn’t really take time to focus on the issue or even bring it up with their doctors!

I’m aware of the various treatments for other aging areas that run the gambit from non-invasive procedures to surgical interventions…. I was curious to read what these women had to say in regards to remedies they had tried to correct their thinning shorter lashes.

Here is the information from the Healthy Women poll (QUOTE):
• More than 54 percent of the women had used more than two different mascaras to make their lashes look fuller.
• Four out of 10 women reported that no mascara products provided satisfaction in making their lashes look fuller.
• More than 50 percent of the women reported that no lash products had provided satisfaction in making their lashes look fuller.

After reading these poll results I actually felt a bit better. I’ve tried many cosmetic attempts with the same results, and have also used false eyelashes. They look great, but there’s always the time issue for me in the morning with work or early location calls, and it seemed too time consuming for me.

At least it was nice not to feel alone with my dilemma, and know that my thinning eyelashes were most likely due to the aging process. I have to admit, though, that I’ve not found a real solution that gives my lashes the natural full look they used to have using any of my makeup tricks.

Color Formulations for the Movie Moonrise Kingdom by Frank Barbosa

Celebrity hairstylist Frank Barbosa (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2467937/) shares his color formulations from behind the scenes of Moonrise Kingdom with actress Kara Hayward. According to Frank, “Hair color plays an important role in portraying the actresses’ character”.

About Moonrise Kingdom: The movie is set on an island off the coast of New England in the 1960s. A young boy and girl fall in love and decide to run away together and the town is turned upside down looking for them.

Frank Barbosa transformed Kara Hayward (Suzy) the lead actress’s hair into a naturally sun kissed look. The director for the film wanted warm tones with golden highlights that you find summer hair achieves naturally with the sun. To achieve, he took her level 5 to a level 7 using IT&LY HAIRFASHION‘s Aquarly 8D (Light Gold Blonde) with 20 Volume Aquarly Developer on the roots and 30 Volume on the mid-shaft to the ends. Next, he painted Easily Blonde highlights to appear like the hair had been naturally weathered by the sun. To maintain her color during filming, Frank Barbosa used IT&LY’s Delyton demi-permanent hair color system.

 After the film wrapped, Frank Barbosa transformed Kara’s hair to her natural level 5 by using IT&LY’s Aquarly 5N (Light Brown) mixed with a little with 5C (Light Ash Brown) to the mid-shaft and ends leaving some of the golden highlights out by applying IT&LY’s Pure Conditioner to them and wrapping them in foils. To create a more ombre result he applied 5C (Light Ash Brown) at the root area for more depth. After processing Frank applied IT&LY’s Delyton 4N to add additional depth and intensive shine. According to Frank Barbosa, “We were both so happy!”

Another one of my favorites, H2O Plus Aqualibrium Sea Mineral Mud Mask is a mineral-rich, oil-free product that deep cleanses and purifies your skin and is truly a winner.  The mud mask is a blue colored, light textured thin liquid that I found to spread easily over my face and neck.  As is dries, the mask tightens, and when it was completely dry it easily washed off leaving my face feeling great.  The kaolin clay, an ingredient in H2O PLus Sea Mineral Mud Mask naturally draws pore-clogging dirt and oil from your skin.  The mud mask also contains aloe vera gel and sea fennel which helps hydrate your skin. Most importantly the mud mask contains allantoin  which helps soothe the skin and stimulate cell renewal. I really felt like I was having a true mud mask experience.
