How To Remove Body Hair Permanently At Home

Everyone has some unwanted body hair somewhere, whether it’s around the genitals, underarms, or on their chest. Shortly put, body hair is a natural phenomenon among both women and men. But what can someone do when their hair thickens and darkens excessively, making them feel like they are carrying around a hair rug on their body? A good proportion of the global population prefers having a hairless, smooth skin and, therefore, seek to eliminate their body hair permanently and from the comfort of their home.

Fortunately, there are numerous techniques for removing unwanted hair permanently, which include the use of laser and IPL devices. While there are quicker hair removal methods, for example, the use of depilatory creams or shaving, the results are often temporary, lasting for a few days only. The following are permanent ways of removing body hair permanently and privately at home.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal has rapidly gained popularity since it was first introduced into the market in the 1990s. This is largely attributable to its ability to semi-permanently eliminate unwanted hair. Laser hair removal works by directing a concentrated beam of light on the hair follicles thus ultimately destroying them. Unlike epilating and waxing, this procedure doesn’t bring about instant results. Instead, it takes a few weeks after which the dead hairs fall out, only to reemerge after a prolonged period.

Shaving is, however, recommended before getting a laser treatment as it propels the hair towards the active growing stage, at which point the latter method is very effective. After just as few sessions, laser users achieve a longer-lasting solution in their quest to achieve a smooth, hairless body. And while the hair density and type determine the number of required sessions, the results are always fulfilling.

Using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

Intense pulsed light is closely similar to laser hair removal. Just like with laser hair removal, IPL hair removal utilizes light to heat body the hairs, damaging the follicles to prevent hair from growing back rapidly. However, rather than using laser beams to heat the hair, IPL uses a comprehensive spectrum of light that is less concentrated. This means that more sessions are required than those needed for laser hair removal. Despite taking long, IPL affords users superior results in addition to allowing a wider coverage of the body surface. This method is often cheaper at the salons than laser hair removal, but since one requires a lot more sessions, it ultimately becomes more costly. The best option is to buy an at-home IPL device, which is a whole lot more economical in the long run.

Using Raw Papaya

Papaya is not merely a tropical fruit; it’s heavily packed with minerals and vitamins, not forgetting a vital enzyme known as papain. This enzymes aids in breaking down the hair follicles and ultimately slowing down hair growth rate. Using papaya is incredibly advantageous as it also serves to nourish the skin. Besides, it can even be used by people whose skin is highly sensitive.

Shortly put, papaya is an exfoliating substance that permanently removes body hair and provides nutrients to the skin. To create the remedy, one will need raw papaya and raw turmeric root. Using a knife, one is required to chop the papaya into small cubes and subsequently smash them into a fine solution. The end product is then gently applied onto the skin and left for twenty minutes to rip maximum benefits.

Using Lemon, Sugar, and Honey

A combination of honey and sugar presents an excellent, natural substitute for the expensive wax used to remove hair in spas, but not permanently. Adding the juice from lemons helps to eliminate the unwanted hair with the results lasting for a prolonged period. The mixture makes a very thick wax-like hair removal solution that also nourishes the skin significantly. It essentially sticks to the hair, making it easy to rip out.

For the best results, one needs to mix one tablespoon of sugar and a tablespoon of honey with lemon juice. The mixture is then placed in a metallic bowl and hovered over a source of heat. This helps to slowly dissolve the mixture to produce a thick, wax-like paste. The resulting solution works just like regular wax, but in this case, it presents a permanent hair removal method that can be easily accomplished from the comfort of one’s home.

The Bottom Line

Unwanted hair can be a real nuisance for anyone regardless of their gender. Most of the solutions applied to quickly eliminate body hair such as shaving only last for a short period of two to three days. Other longer-lasting options like threading and waxing can leave someone experiencing intense pain or with ugly, ingrown hair, and besides, the hair emerges after several weeks. Also, spas and saloons are rapidly increasing their fees in a period when everyone is facing an economic crisis, making these methods less affordable.

This is why people are increasingly turning to the above permanent methods of hair reduction and removal. It’s important to note that the best techniques for achieving permanent hair elimination focus on preventing hair growth by destroying the follicles. Oils and creams are only applicable on the skin surface thus provide a temporary solution rather than stopping regrowth.

Your no excuse guide to staying toned while traveling this holiday season

Many fitness enthusiasts find it difficult to follow their normal exercise plan while traveling to see family or friends for the winter holidays.  Unfamiliar environments, tightly-packed family living conditions, or lack of exercise equipment may hamper even a fitness fanatic’s best intentions for staying fit while traveling this holiday season. Alex Vitale is a V Shred Lead Trainer, Certified Personal Trainer through the National Council of Strength and Fitness and a graduate of the Equinox Fitness Training Institute. When planning your December holiday trip, he offers the following tips for putting together an exercise program that travels with you.

“If you’ve worked hard to establish a good fitness routine, traveling for the holidays doesn’t have to mean your healthy habits will be derailed, says Alex. He adds, “You can keep your momentum and endorphins flowing and maintain your fitness level when traveling.”

HOW CAN THIS BE DONE?

Stay Hydrated. “Drink a minimum of eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day. Airport food, sitting on a plane, jet lag – all contribute to bloat. The best way to fight it is to stay hydrated,” says Alex Vital of V Shred.

Lift from your knees, not your back. Be aware of your posture as you carry your bags.  Use good body mechanics when you lift your suitcases up to the check-in counter.

Eat three meals a day- Even though you’ve left behind your daily routine, try to eat three meals a day, maintain a balanced diet and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. If you’re going to eat a high-fat meal, eat a smaller portion, or order an appetizer instead of a main course. Split desserts with a friend.

Rest. If your schedule is shot and you’re not sleeping enough at night, take cat naps whenever you get the chance.  Stretch in the morning and evening, especially if you’ve been sitting all day. If you will be drinking alcohol, drink a lot of water between events.

Pack snacks: bananas and apples, yogurt, protein bars. You can make meal replacement shakes in your hotel room. You don’t need a blender, just a container with a tight-fitting lid, large enough to shake the contents.

Find out if your gym reciprocates its membership with a gym where you’ll be traveling, log onto the International Physical Fitness Association’s Web site, http://www.ipfa.us/, or ask at your home health club before you leave town. Alex Vital says that “Three to five days off from a strength routine can give your muscles a rest. But you wouldn’t want to go a week or more without serious exercise and a short respite for your biceps doesn’t mean you should ever let your cardio workout go.”

Become a member of an online fitness platform

Vshred.com guides users to the very best program for their
body type and fitness goals while giving them some amazing tips they can use
that day in a video and then offers them a program that’s perfect for them if
they don’t want to do it themselves.

Take the V Shred Quiz Here.

Pack a jump rope for a go-anywhere aerobic session. Invest in “travel weights” -inflatable weights that can be filled with water or sand when training, folded and stored while on the road.

Plan active recreation during vacations -check out the local golf course, riding stable, and so on.

When sightseeing, forget the tour bus and walk. You’ll not only see more, but you’ll be sneaking in some extra activity.

Bring portable fitness.

For more fitness options, place in your luggage a Resist-A-Tube or any of the home exercise tubing, a stability ball, jump rope or exercise video. ”If you like classes, make your own class in your room,” offers Alex Vital

If you work with a personal trainer, ask him or her to design an exercise plan before you leave town. When you’re sitting on a plane or in a hotel room, take deep breaths occasionally, tighten your stomach muscles, then relax. Travelers need to periodically flex and stretch the hamstrings and hip flexors, the muscle at the upper part of the leg that connects into the pelvis.

For women who spend the day in high heels, a walk around the room toe-up, heel-down will stretch the calf muscles. Or, do toe raises by putting the heels on the floor and stepping up onto a telephone book. “Men often complain of being cramped when traveling,” states Vital. “They need to stretch their lower back and legs.” He recommends the cat stretch. Get up on your hands and knees, arch your back for 15 seconds, then release. Repeat.

Alex Vital points out that the more comfortable you are with operating fitness machinery at your home gym, the easier it will be to set up unfamiliar equipment when you’re on the road.

FIT FLYING

Air travel may be fast and convenient, but for many of us, it can be uncomfortable and restrictive due to cramped cabins and sardine-like seating. The following tips can help you make the most of your next airplane trip by helping you stay flexible and fit while you fly.

–           DEEP BREATHING is an instant-relaxer and can be done anywhere at any time. Try taking 4-5 deep, cleansing breaths several times during your flight.

–           RELAX YOUR SHOULDERS by bending forward slightly, hands on knees and “rolling” your shoulders in a circular motion 5 or 6 times. Repeat the “roll” in the opposite direction, then finish up by “shrugging” your shoulders up and down 5 times.

–           RELAX YOUR BACK by reaching overhead, holding elbows, and bending side to side. Repeat 5 times in each direction.

–           STRETCH YOUR LEGS by alternately lifting your knees toward your chest and bringing your body toward your knee to the count of eight.

–           RELEASE YOUR FEET by “drawing” the alphabet with one foot then the other.

About Alex Vital:

Alex’s mission as a personal trainer is to, not only help people to get in shape, but also to take more control over their lives and up-level to the best version of themselves possible.

Classic Jewelry Pieces Every Woman Should Own

Regardless of your styling preferences, classic jewelry pieces never fail to give the right finish to your look. Whether you wear a uniform or different clothes every day, the right jewelry will make you look perfect – not to plain, not too much, just right. People love jewelry, and it’s important that we know which ones to invest in with our hard-earned money.

Here’s a list of classic jewelry pieces every woman should own.

  1. Diamond studs

“Diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” they say. While diamonds may not come cheap, a pair of diamond stud earrings is worth the investment. It’s a classic piece that can be worn with anything – whether you’re going to a business meeting or a party. The beauty of this piece lies in its subtleness and versatility.

If diamonds are too expensive for you, you can opt for moissanite or cubic zirconia, which looks like real diamonds. However, to the trained eye, the brilliance isn’t the same.

  1. Pearl necklace

One of Audrey Hepburn’s most famous portraits features a multistrand pearl necklace, and this image of hers became iconic for a reason. When you think of elegance, a pearl necklace always comes into mind. As the little black dress is a staple in your closet, a strand of pearl necklace is the same – and they go well together, too!

  1. Long-chain necklace

There’s a certain touch a long-chain necklace can add to your outfit. It’s easy to wear and very versatile. You can wear it singularly or layer it up, depending on the occasion and the look you want to achieve. It goes with your formal dresses, with your white shirt and jeans, and even with your sweater.

  1. Hoop earrings

Small- to medium-sized hoops are a must-have because of their timelessness. Whether it’s gold, platinum, or subtly embellished with diamonds, they transition from day to night without a fuss. It’s a pair that you can wear with almost anything.

  1. Tennis bracelet

This jewelry stopped the 1987 US Open match when player Chris Evert lost her bracelet during the game, hence the name. This line of diamonds screams chic and style and is a sure stunner when worn every day or to an evening party. It can be pricey, though, so you may want to purchase one as a reward for a big accomplishment.

  1. Personalized jewelry

What makes jewelry unique and precious to the owner is when it has a personal touch. A definite must-have in your jewelry box is a personalized piece of jewelry. Whether it’s a pinkie ring, a necklace, or a bracelet, you can purchase custom jewelry with you your initial, zodiac sign, or name. If you want a name necklace like that of Carrie Bradshaw, visit this site for more information.

  1. Classic watch

Even though mobile phones and smartwatches are used by most people nowadays to tell the time, nothing can beat a timeless piece of watch. Wearing a classic but chic watch provides sophistication to any look from daytime to evening and gives the impression that you’re organized. An example of this piece is the famous Tank watch from Cartier, worn by Princess Diana, Angelina Jolie, Mick Jagger, and other celebrities.

  1. Stackable rings

If you can layer necklaces, you can wear stackable rings, too! Opt for the dainty pieces, so you can wear them singularly to accentuate your look or wear them together to create impact. If you have beautiful hands or fingers, then you have the perfect excuse to wear them all!

  1. Simple bangle or bracelet

A simple bangle or bracelet is your perfect arm candy, regardless of what you’re wearing or where you’re going. When choosing a piece, go the minimalist approach. A favorite example of this piece is Cartier’s Love bracelet, which for a particular time became the most Googled jewelry piece. You can also choose a similar piece from other brands as long as you remember that most the essential description – simple.

  1. Diamond ring

Be it a family heirloom, an engagement ring, or a ring you bought yourself as a gift, a diamond ring is every woman’s must-have. A row of tiny diamonds or a single rock is enough to give your look a sophisticated flair.

You don’t need to have a lot of jewelry; these classic pieces are all you need to serve you for a lifetime. Take good care of them and they could last forever.

We know that technology offers several organization resources, but studies have shown that having a paper planner is even better—the physical act of writing things down helps your brain remember tasks more consistently than clicking through apps.

This is the perfect present for a busy parent, a business owner who needs to record expenses, a cosmetologist booking several appointments each day, or a friend or coworker who simply struggles with staying organized.

Choose from a selection of cute, trendy designs and personalize the cover with names, photos, quotes, and more. Ornaments are quite the popular Christmas gift, but oftentimes a normal retailer might only sell generic ornaments that are mass-produced and not very personable. Consider personalizing a custom ornament with your friends’ or family’s names and photos to give them something truly special to hang on their trees.

This is great gift for the parents of a newborn baby to commemorate their son or daughter’s first Christmas, or a married couple spending their first holiday season together as newlyweds. Grandparents will love a custom ornament with all their grandchildren’s names on it. Or, if you have a friend who loves their dogs or cats like children, personalize an ornament with photos of their pets.

Personalized Stationery Sets

If you know someone whose desk is covered in a sea of mismatched post-it notes, a personalized stationery set might just be the greatest gift imaginable. This is also the perfect gift for teachers, secretaries, assistants, or anyone who needs to write, keep, or send notes on a daily basis. Not to mention that it looks both stylish and professional on any desk—much more than those post-it notes.

Each stationery set includes ten folded cards and ten notecards with coordinating envelopes, and a notepad with fifty sheets. They come with a cloth gift bag for easy gift giving!

Custom Coffee Mugs

Coffee Mugs are a classic gift. But just like with Christmas ornaments, many stores only have generic mugs that don’t feel very warm or meaningful. Personalize a custom coffee mug to surprise your favorite coffee or tea drinker with a one-of-a-kind gift they’ll actually want to use.

Get a World’s Greatest Dag mug for your father, but make it even more special by personalizing it with his name and a nostalgic photo. Or customize a mug for your son or daughter’s teacher to fill with holiday goodies like hot chocolate and peppermint tea.

Coffee mugs are one of the most versatile gifts, and with so many customization options, your loved ones can stay caffeinated in style.

Holiday gift shopping can be stressful, especially when you want create something unique for each of your friends and family. Custom print shops like PurpleTrail make it easy. EYE OPENING WAYS TO GET YOUNGER LOOKING PEEPERS THROUGH SURGICAL AND AT HOME SOLUTIONS

www.psspecialists.com

Your eyes are not only the windows to your soul, but your age as well.  In fact, studies have shown that when strangers are asked to judge how old a person is, the eye area is one of the biggest influences. The delicate skin around our eyes is usually the first place to get noticeable fine lines/wrinkles and even brown discoloration. The causes are exposure to sun and pollution, stress, and late nights. Here are some doable tips from Board Certified San Francisco area plastic surgeon Dr. Stanley Poulos to keep the skin around your eyes protected and combat premature-aging.

Be preventative- Botox and fillers can dramatically improve the appearance of the eye area without surgery. “If a patient has a volume loss or tear trough (deep groove) under the eyelids, we inject fillers such as Juvéderm or Restylane,” says Dr. Poulos. Dr. Poulos adds, “This produces volume to the area and provides support and lift to smooth out lines and wrinkles. Botox and other neuromodulators relaxes muscles to soften lines and to slow down their deepening by weakening the way they wrinkle the skin like an accordion. The cost depends on amount injected and number of injection sites.”

No Injection Cosmetic Procedures- There are a variety of laser treatments available that allow skincare professionals to target certain areas and treat certain conditions. Dr. Poulos explains that, “Resurfacing lasers, like Fractionated Erbium or CO2 can tighten the skin around the eyes with up to a week of downtime.

The Surgical Route- Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the eyelids. Surgery can be performed on either the upper and lower lids, or both.

Whether you want to improve your appearance or are experiencing functional problems with your eyelids, eyelid surgery can rejuvenate the area surrounding your eyes.

Specifically, eyelid surgery can treat:

Loose or sagging skin that creates folds of the upper eyelid, sometimes blocking   vision

Excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the eyelids

 Bags under the eyes

Drooping lower eyelids that reveal white below the iris

Excess skin of the lower eyelid

Target Key Spots: “There’s a muscle under the tail of the eyebrow that pulls the brow down, so a tiny drop of Botox, placed very precisely, helps pop up the brow and give you more of an arch in a few days. Dr. Poulos also likes Juvederm under the outer half of the brow. He explains, “We lose fat in our eyebrows over time, which makes everything sag. Replacing the fat pad with filler helps prop up the brows and lids back where they used to be.”

Non- Surgical Routes

Protect yourself from the Sun- Wear a broad-brimmed hat and use UV-protective sunglasses with lenses large enough to protect the eyes and the eyelids. Polarize lenses reduce glare and are particularly important when driving. Use sunscreen designed specifically for around the eyes to avoid stinging and burning. UV rays can penetrate clouds, so protect your eyes and eyelids every day.

Eye Cream- In addition to moisturizing, eye creams can offer other benefits, as well. Dr. Poulos says to, “Eye creams with growth factors and retinal can help increase cell turnover. Retinol helps to combat wrinkles, thicken the dermis, boost collagen, and distribute pigment more evenly. Use an eye cream containing retinol at night because it’s light-sensitive.”

Eating too much salt- Some people notice their eyes get puffy when they eat a lot of salt.  Under eye bags are intensified when you have a diet that is high in sodium. To reduce puffiness and swelling, put something cool over eyelids, like cucumber slices, slices of raw potatoes, moist, refrigerated tea bags, or chilled spoons.

Over plucking your eyebrows– Repeated tweezing can result in scarring of the hair follicles, preventing hair from ever re-growing. “Be judicious when plucking,” says Dr. Poulos.  “With age, eyebrow hairs become thinner.”

Eat an Iron-Rich Diet

An iron deficiency could be the reason for your under-eye bags and dark circles. Make them go away by incorporating iron-rich foods like spinach, kidney beans and dark chocolate into your diet.

Relax With Green Tea

Fight eye bags with tea bags! Resting cold green tea pouches will help reduce the appearance of puffiness. The combination of a cool compress with the tannins in the tea may help constrict the blood vessels and reduce swelling. Caffeine in the tea also helps reduce swelling.

To Minimize Dark Circles

Seek Out Vitamin C: Dr. Poulos suggest that you, “Look for an eye cream with ascorbyl glucoside, a potent vitamin C derivative that lightens dark circles and reverses aging dyspigmentation. Also, if you have volume loss under the eyes, light can get trapped in the folds and give the impression of shadows. In this case, we will often utilize a transfer of your own fat from abdomen or hips, mix it with your centrifuged blood (protein rich plasma or prp) and inject via a tiny needle to add thickness and minimize the light reflex “erasing”  the dark circles.

Strengthen With Retinol: “Dark circles can be caused by the under-eye skin getting thin over time, so the underlying muscle is visible. Dr. Poulos often prescribes Renova to build collagen and help thicken the skin around the eyes. If you have sensitive skin, start with an over the counter retinol-containing product.

WINTER HEALTH MYTHS BUSTED!

https://tourocom.touro.edu/academics/faculty/harlem/niket-sonpal.php

There are endless winter health myths that we have heard from well intentioned grandparents and parents. They have become so ingrained in us that we take them as cold hard facts. Many of these myths have no more basis in reality than Santa Claus.  Of course, everyone wants to stay as healthy as possible during the frosty months. In order to do so sensibly, we turned to Board Certified NYC internist and gastroenterologist Dr. Niket Sonpal.

Myth: Allergies go away in the winter

Allergies might be the real source behind your stuffy nose and scratchy throat this season. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, one in five people suffer from indoor/outdoor allergies, and the indoor variety can actually be worse in the winter. Dr. Sonpal cautions that, “If your symptoms last longer than 10 days or ease up after taking an antihistamine, it might be time to visit an allergist.”

Myth: I wash my hands all the time with hand sanitizer, so I should be fine.

Hand sanitizer will kill most viruses, but not all. You must make sure you use the right amount of hand sanitizer and let it dry completely. Dr. Sonpal points out that,” Some viruses, like norovirus, which causes vomiting, is not killed by hand sanitizer. Soap and water are best to get rid of all bacteria and viruses, but the hand sanitizer is better than nothing at all.”

Myth: It’s cold out, I don’t need sunscreen.

The sun’s rays are just as strong in the winter months as they are in the other seasons. Snow and ice can reflect even more sunlight, up to twice as much. Grab the SPF 30 and put it on, regardless of the temperature. Don’t forget those sunglasses to keep your eyes safe as well.

I’ll just drink some alcohol to keep myself warm.

Although it may feel like drinking alcohol is making you warmer, it does not. Dr. Sonpal says that, “when you drink, the blood vessels dilate or get bigger, and blood flows to your skin and away from your internal organs. So, it may feel like you are getting warmer, but you are not.”

Myth: The Flu Shot Gives You the Flu

According to a new survey from the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases and Rite Aide, 44 percent of American women view the flu as a serious threat to their health. Yet nearly half (49 percent) do not intend to get a flu shot this year because they believe the vaccine can give them the flu. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the flu shot for anyone older than 6 months of age. Dr. Sonpal stresses that, “The shot does not contain a live virus, making catching the flu from it impossible.”

Winter weather makes you store fat and gain weight

Our bodies do not go into some kind of winter hibernation mode, stockpiling every ounce of fat to use for the lean times. It seems logical, like a throwback to our days living in caves foraging for food, but in reality, any weight gain comes from our winter habits. Dr. Sonpal points out that, “we tend to exercise less in winter. We eat more hearty meals and comfort foods, including more sugary snacks and desserts (especially around the holidays).”

Myth: You Lose Most Heat Through Your Head

The saying goes “we lose 90 percent of our body heat through our heads.”  But a 2006 study found that the head accounts for about 7 percent of the body’s surface area, and that heat loss in the region is fairly proportional, according to LiveScience. “Your head is another extremity, and it’s susceptible to cold, so you should wear a hat, but it doesn’t lose any more heat than another part of your body,” says Dr. Sonpal.

Myth: Chicken Soup Will Cure Colds

Many cultures teach us to drink warm liquids like tea, hot apple cider, and soups when we’re dealing with colds. It’s true that something like chicken soup may help soothe and ease congestion, but much like vitamin C, hot soup won’t do immediate wonders.

Myth: Being Cold Gives You a Cold

No matter what your grandma might have told you, spending too much time in the cold air doesn’t make you sick. One study found that healthy men who spent several hours in temperatures just above freezing had an increase in healthy, virus-fighting activity in their immune systems. In fact, you’re more likely to get sick indoors, where germs are easily passed.

Myth: Feed a cold, starve a fever

Dr. Sonpal says that, “This is another myth that comes from a time when people didn’t understand the science of body chemistry. The thought was that if you had a cold, food would warm you up. Conversely, if you had a high fever, not eating would cool you down. This is just patently bad medical advice. In both cases, good nutrition gives your body the fuel it needs to fight infections and recover from an illness. When you have a fever, your body is burning energy at a rapid rate, and that needs to be replenished. So, by all means feed your cold; but also feed your fever, or any other illness. Even if you have stomach issues, find a way to take in lost fluids and electrolytes.”

Top Keto Diet Myths That We Should Stop Believing

We all have different reasons for wanting to adopt a healthy lifestyle, yet the benefits are all the same across the board. A strong and aesthetically-pleasing body, a sharp mind, and an even better psyche.

One popular dietary method through which one can achieve a healthy lifestyle is a ketogenic diet.

What Exactly is a Ketogenic Diet?

The Ketogenic diet places an emphasis on keeping carbohydrate intake minimal while maintaining sufficient fat intake. The reduction in carbohydrates is going to trigger a metabolic state called “ketosis” wherein the body burns fat instead of carbohydrates for energy. These are just the core concepts. Here’s a more comprehensive guide on what a keto diet is.

It is currently one of the more popular diet types to adopt. And naturally, with as something gains more attention, misinformation is bound to spread. Misinformation spreads even quicker on the internet. This can potentially be harmful to the uninformed (misinformed, rather) reader. So, what myths are we here to dispel?

Myth: Ketogenic Diets Aren’t a Sustainable Health Option

Ketogenic diets are more than a diet change, it’s part of an entire lifestyle. If you make this drastic change, and your body takes to it and healthily adapts, it’s important that you don’t respond by switching back and forth between thsi diet and another one rapidly.

Commit to a ketogenic diet over the long-term to allow yourself properly adjust yourself away from sugar. Once you’ve finished adapting, you need to make the same kind of careful choices when you want to switch back.

Don’t stress your organs by eating carbs like you used to. Instread, gradually re-introduce them. Better yet, stick with one diet for the long term if it isn’t giving you trouble.

Myth: All Fats are Fine to Eat

The idea that one should increase fat intake and lower carb intake gives the wrong impression that you can eat any type of fatty food that you get your hands on. This is not the case.

Saturated fats such as the ones found in red meats increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. An optimal keto diet would be to take in unsaturated fats instead (fish, flax seed, almonds, walnuts).

Myth: Ketosis vs. Ketoacidosis

As previously surmised, the goal of a keto diet is to trigger an optimal state of “fat burning” metabolism. This process is called “ketosis”. On the other hand, ketoacidosis is a condition that happens when there is an excess in ketones. It is potentially-life threatening and should be avoided.

Myth: Protein Should Be Abundant in a Keto Diet

We need to strike a balance in terms of protein intake. The general view on proteins is that they are a must if you want to stay healthy. This is not the case with a keto diet because an increase in proteins will eventually spark an increase in ketones, which is known to trigger ketoacidosis. Thi

Designing Yourself: How To Ace Your Unique Style

As a young, fashion-conscious woman, you will always be wanting to find new and interesting ways to style yourself. Whether you have a big presentation at the office, a night out on the town, or a laid-back coffee date, there is always a great opportunity to showcase your own original look. To be able to achieve this permanent state of everyday glamour, this handy guide will walk you through four sure-fire ways you can revolutionize your wardrobe and accessories to be bang on trend with a fraction of the effort. By following these tips, not one day will go by where you aren’t feeling your absolute best.

All about the accessories

A staple of any fashionista’s arsenal is her accessories, namely jewellery. The right jewellery can elevate any outfit to look amazing, whether your goal is anything from biker chic to high-flying professional. The most important piece of jewellery you should focus on is what necklaces you wear, as choosing the correct length to suit your shape and the necklines you like to wear is vital to looking great.

90s choker necklaces that hug tightly against the neck are making a come back and are a great option because they suit almost any neckline. Another versatile option is the princess necklace length which sits on your collarbone. Like the choker, this length will go with just about anything but will offer a more refined and demure style that would suit both formal and casual wear. For a statement look, wearing a necklace length of 20 to 35 inches will be a bold addition to any outfit that will add the extra bit of glamour you need for a night out at a swanky wine bar or going to the theatre. If you’re struggling with choosing what would suit you best or have found a beautiful style that you wish was in a different length, the one great option to consider is an adjustable length necklace that will mean you can wear your favourite pieces no matter what the neckline on your dress or shirt is, increasing the versatility of your investment in a gorgeous piece of designer jewellery. You can read more here about how to choose the perfect necklace length when buying designer jewellery.

Keep things concise

When trying to stay on track with the endless pursuit of looking on trend, you will often find that your wardrobe becomes overrun with hundreds of clothes that you barely ever wear until your closet is literally bursting at the seams. Keeping up with fashions doesn’t have to involve this much spending, and one way around this is to learn how to create a capsule wardrobe that will not only save you money but also time to get ready in the mornings, ensuring that you will always look amazing even if you occasionally sleep through your alarm.

The key to a capsule wardrobe is that you begin by getting in all the basics. This includes essentials such as jeans, plain black and white vests, leggings, and versatile shoes that are weather resistant. These pieces will help to form the foundation of your different outfits that will be glammed up by investment pieces that are high fashion and on trend. Try to limit yourself to buying only one statement item per month that can elevate an outfit to be amazing and unique. This could include designer jewellery, as mentioned previously, a vibrant scarf, or a new pair of boots that give your outfits a bit of edge.

Carrying it off

A huge component of any style is your bag as this is an accessory that you will have with you every single day. It is important that you get a bag that is in equal parts versatile and fashionable so that you can always make a great first impression no matter where you find yourself. It is then worth using a guide to choosing the right handbag for you so that you can make an informed choice before you part with this money on this investment. The first thing to consider is what size of bag you will need and is comfortable to carry. The next port of call is deciding on the colour and or pattern of the bag. If you like to wear largely neutral colours, which would likely be the case if you have a capsule wardrobe, then you have the freedom to choose something that is much bolder that can add a serious pop of colour and playfulness to your look. On the flip side, if you like to shake things up a lot with colour and pattern in your wardrobe, investing in a plain, neutral coloured bag or one in a favourite colour that you wear often would be a better choice.

Nailed it

A simple touch that will always have you feeling great is making sure your nails look good. Like many young people, you might not have the time or the money to get them done professionally every week, so learning how to apply fake nails at home is a skill you will not regret learning. Fake nails are a great way to inject some fun into your look without having to make a long-term commitment to one particular fashion statement while also having the added bonus of making your hands look elegant and stylish.

Using your head

Finally, one of the biggest ways you can make sure your style is on point is by taking care of your hair and getting advice from professionals about what would suit you the most. Start by taking hair colour quiz to see what would suit your personality and skin tone the best. Then, save up to get your hair cut and coloured by a professional at a top hair salon and take the time to ask about how you can maintain your new look.

Designing your own look is a great way of making yourself feel great every day and increasing your confidence.
