How to perfect your morning routine

Whether you are a morning person trying to make the most of your most productive hours, or somebody looking to become one, getting your morning routine in order is critically important. Firstly, take a week or so to work out how much sleep you need. The average recommended amount of sleep for adults is eight hours, but this is anywhere between seven and nine. As stated, adults can require up to nine hours to function the next day properly, while with 14-17-year-olds that increases to ten or even eleven hours. 

Once you’ve worked out your optimum night’s sleep, try and go to bed early enough to get it most nights. Work backwards from when you need to leave the house in the morning, or when you need to start work, always leaving yourself plenty of time for the activities you want to fit in beforehand. Other activities that you need to do in the morning, either before or after breakfast, could be exercising or preparing your bag, or packed lunch, for the next day. You should also get used to dressing for the day. This is hugely important for those who work at home. If you carry out your whole morning routine in your underwear or pajamas, psychologically you are not ready for the day.
