Measures to take to prevent the signs of aging

Many women ask, besides wearing sunscreen, what other measures can be taken to prevent the signs of aging when you’re in your 20s, 30s and 40s? Dr. Nava Greenfield has a few tips on how to protect the skin and keep fine lines, sun damage and wrinkles at bay:

  • Incorporate chemical exfoliation into your skincare routine. Glycolic acid is great ingredient to add to your face wash or moisturizer to keep facial skin looking bright and healthy.
  • Invest in a Fraxel laser treatment.Although there is down time, it is one of the most powerful tools we have to treat fine lines and wrinkles and even out the texture. 
  • Use a neck cream. Don’t ignore your neck when you’re young. A good neck specific cream can go a long way to decreasing signs of aging and crepiness.
  • Protect your hands: The sun damage on our hands may show your age more than facial wrinkles.  
  • Wear SPF even if you’re indoors. Protecting from UVA that can penetrate through glass windows in cars and homes is an important preventative measure.

New from Nubian Heritage … Honey and Black seed collection

There is everything to love about Nubian Heritage. I’m a huge fan of Nubian Heritage, especially their newest Collection, Honey and Black Seed, it’s  exceptional. The collection consists of 6 products that the entire family can use; Bar Soap, Body Lotion, Body Wash, Hand Cream, 24 hour Deodorant and infused Shea Butter.  My husband has already gone through the Bar Soap and is waiting for me to order another one. Scandic Line Smoothing Serum with Chamomile. It’s On Our Skincare A-List!

Not only is this an A-List skincare product but the dispenser bottle is so pretty in a lovely powder blue hued container. The dropper applicator is another plus. We love the dropper for dispensing the perfect amount and for better beauty hygeine.

I personally love that it goes on smoothly with no stinging or irritation. I use it twice a day. On my face and neck and decolletage. My upper lip lines are bothersome to me and my neck is starting to get some wrinkles and is a bit crepey.

The Ung / Young Line Smoothing Serum seems to be the start of something great for my skin!  The other gals here got to try a dab of the serum but I snatched it up super quickly for myself!  Thank goodness I did.

FACEatelier Ultra Skin lightweight foundation is oil and fragrance free, non comedogenic and Vegan and those are just a mere few of the key selling points for me.

It’s high quality formula provides a long-lasting satin finish with light to medium coverage. The creamy texture provides for an airbrush-like look. There are 11 shades of  Ultra Skin’s for  the lightest to the richest complexions (neutral to a cool brown with yellow/green/red undertones).

Note: Ultra Skin’s undertones will cancel out much of the red caused by rosacea or other skin conditions. 

The primer is built right into the foundation. Love that! And, you don’t need a powder to set it. The pump applicator and tube make it perfectly easy to use. The pros at FACEatelier recommend using a foundation brush to ensure smooth and clean application. You can use your fingers also and easily with the pump applicator. Whether you use a make up brush or your fingers remember to  use the formula sparingly as a little goes a long way.

The pros at FACEatelier also say to start in the T-zone and work your way out, patting the product onto the skin, not with long swipes but by dotting.  The pros call this “stippling.”

Ultra Skin sets by itself to a flawless, satin like finish.  If you powder, do so sparingly as too much will accentuate skin imperfections and fine lines and wrinkles.

A Prelude to Earth Day with Nubian Heritage

Sunday April 22, is Earth Day. How do we celebrate Earth Day? What is it meant to accomplish? The below is taken directly from Earthday.org  :

“Close to 48 years ago, on 22 April 1970, millions of people took to the streets to protest the negative impacts of 150 years of industrial development.

In the US and around the world, smog was becoming deadly and evidence was growing that pollution led to developmental delays in children. Biodiversity was in decline as a result of the heavy use of pesticides and other pollutants.

The global ecological awareness was growing, and the US Congress and President Nixon responded quickly. In July of the same year, they created the Environmental Protection Agency, and robust environmental laws such as the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act, among many.

Earth Day is now a global event each year, and we believe that more than 1 billion people in 192 countries now take part in what is the largest civic-focused day of action in the world.”

I have been in the beauty industry for over 20 years and am happy to tell you how ethically-made and environmentally-friendly beauty brands honor Earth Day every day, 365 days a year!

Let’s start by saying, not all brands meet high ratings of approval in terms of being environmentally sound and effective on your skin. So do your research. Make Fair Trade part of your beauty routine. Support brands that  are the most responsible in the ingredients they use.  Find brands that help the environment. Don’t be deceived by products that claim to be “Organic” and Green”.  There is no real definition in the industry of either term. Many manufacturers will label their products as such without upholding any honorable or true standards or intentions.

I decided to honor this Earth Day by finding a new beauty brand or a “new to me” brand that meets the Earth Day initiatives every day. I discarded a brand that I currently use which is not as ethical.

The brand I chose for this Earth Day 2018 is Nubian Heritage . This brand has accomplished the use of authentic natural ingredients. Nubian Heritage works with educating and supporting local community groups. Nubian Heritage supports Homecoming Farm and Sophia Garden located in Amityville, NY, to promote health, wellness, eco-consciousness and sustainability. They use soy milk instead of dairy milk in their formulations. The product labeling proudly displays the PETA cruelty free bunny logo.  The logo means they are affiliated with an official organization.  (Note: There are companies out there that brand their products as cruelty free with Fake Cruelty Free Logos.)

Puffy Cheeks & Double Chins? They could be signs of “facial water retention”

Try this 3-Step Puffy Face Rescue Plan to get your face looking tighter, trimmer, and sexier.
