Treat your skin like Gold, with Gold

Florida sunshine is coming back, and having experienced my first sunburn in nearly 10 years, I think it is hotter than ever. That would have been a great day to have my Australian Gold Spray Gel Sunscreen w/ Instant Bronzer. I first used my Australian Gold on our first real sunny, warm day sitting outside on my lanai. No worries about the sun, smelled great, easy to apply and thanks to the instant bronzer I was able to still get some great color. I spent a day at the beach a couple weeks ago and had no sunburn when I got home. I am the kind who will apply sunscreen nearly every half hour, but with Australian Gold I didn’t have to (company recommends applying every 2 hours) Not only that but I was able to apply more when needed without rubbing sand into my skin. I don’t think that is the greatest feeling in the world lol.

Save money & have fun…doing laundry

My daughter received a gift of “Wooly Mates” and she gave them to me since I normally wash the clothes. I read the bag that they came in and it said to use them instead of softener sheets in my dryer. I didn’t really think that they would do much, but I was almost out of softener sheets, so I thought I would give them a try. I absolutely love them! Our clothes have no static, they are just as soft as always, there are no conflicting perfume smells and I don’t have to remember to add a dryer sheet each time I use the dryer. The “Wooly Mates” are left in the dryer to use time and time again. I don’t know how many dryer cycles they will continue to work so well with, but the website said hundreds. Works for me!

I always tried to use detergents without added fragrances because my daughter has sensitive skin. This product helps me to accomplish this also with the dryer because there is no fragrance.

Smell good with Eye On Beauty

When you were little do you remember going through your mother’s makeup drawer? You played with everything, tried on her blush, eye shadow and even dabbed on her favorite perfume. That’s probably when she started telling you about finding your signature scent? I know that’s what my mom did. Beauty thats good enough to drink

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, it’s a beauty routine you can really drink to. Starting in ancient Egypt, women of upper class beer was used for many different beauty needs as well as therapeutic. It helped to reduce skin conditions and freshen the skin giving off a healthy, shining glow. Now here we are and scientists have discovered that the brewers yeast can help eliminate acne, slow down sebum production and the pH level in beer can help tighten the hair follicle. Brewer’s yeast contains ingredients such as vitamin B12, and biotin making it not only great for your outside but for your inside’s as well (just drink responsibly). As a matter of fact countries over seas have what are called ” Beer Spas” where you can go and take a leisurely dip in a giant tub of beer. I’d say “bring out some potato skins and pretzels please I’m gonna be here a while”. Unfortunately there are no reports of “Beer Spas” in the US…yet. Let’s keep our fingers crossed lol.

Having oily, acne prone skin and overly oily hair, beer has been one of my lifesavers. Through my research and testing, beer has really transformed my hair and skin. Even my nails. Having incorporated a DIY beer mask and a little beer rinse in my weekly routine, I feel like a million bucks and definitely enjoy the leftovers ;). I still do my current routine but I have found it to be essential to add Here is the DIY beer mask I use on myself:

Combine 1 tbsp. of your favorite beer with 1 tsp. plain yogurt, 1 tsp. olive oil, 1 egg white, 1 tsp. lemon extract and 1 tsp. almond extract.

Mix until all of the ingredients are incorporated. Lightly wet the face with warm water and apply the mask. Allow the mask to dry for 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Complete the experience with a cold water splash, and step back and admire your beer-kissed skin.

I enjoy this as a body mask as well. Makes body acne disappear!

Makeup Show Recap

If there is one place I love better than Studio 10, its getting to cover the Makeup Show Orlando. Held in the ballroom at the Hyatt Regency, The Makeup Show Orlando offers everything from education, and info on the latest and greatest makeup/skincare products on the market. Definitely a show for the beauty “hoarder” and makeup fanatic (which is me lol)and for those who want to enhance their makeup skills thanks to the awesome classes and education while there.

While I was at the show I ran into some familiar faces such as well known makeup artists Tia Dantzler, James Vincent and Vivian Infantino. Not only that but I met many new people as well and discovered some new and fascinating products such as The Beauty Butler, Tanique, Facial Smoothies, Shea Moisture, Tat2U Cosmetics, Cara Cosmetics and so many more but there will definitely be a blog on each and every one. Also, as a member of the press I was gifted a press bag full of many more samples that I cannot wait to try out.

Not only was it the makeup that fascinated me it was the work I saw by some amazing artists. Every year the Cosmix Makeup School’s booth showcases the work of some incredible artists that are literally out of this world and even The Makeup Show holds contests on what is called fantasy makeup. I saw everything from underwater theme, to outer space. Unfortunately I could not take many pictures due to the battery on my phone dying :(.

Protect Your Skin From Sun Damage

May is National Skin Cancer and Melanoma Awareness Month. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime.

From a beauty perspective, constant and unprotected sun exposure causes skin damage, aging, pigmentation, wrinkles, sagging, and leathering.  Most of us know the general protective procedures to help prevent skin melanomas.

These procedures would include:

  • Not to burn.
  • Avoid tanning and UV tanning booths.
    • To cover up with clothing, including a broad-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses.
    • Use a high quality broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 15                    or higher every day. For extended outdoor activity, use a water-resistant, broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
    • Apply of sunscreen to your entire body 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply every two hours or immediately after swimming or excessive sweating.
    • Keep newborns out of the sun. Sunscreens should be used on babies over the age of six months.
  • Examine your skin head-to-toe every month.
    • See your physician every year for a professional skin exam.
