M3K Beauty

It’s a Glam Thing‘s East Coast Editor sent some new product info my way recently and here is the scoop on one product in particular that I found interesting…

“The Fountain of Youth may be a legend that many are familiar with, and don’t we all wish that maintaining a youthful appearance was as easy as drinking water from a fountain. But let’s face it; preserving a youthful look takes much more than that. Although there are a plethora of anti-aging creams and rituals in the market today, there’s a new affordable anti-aging cream that’s ready to restore your skin to that youthful luster without harsh chemicals, painful needles and is easy on your pocket book.

M3K’s Regenerative Anti-Aging Face Cream is a beauty must have. Believed to be the most advanced optimized matrix regenerative face cream on the market, M3K’s formula is scientifically formulated and uniquely combines the market’s top five key ingredients cited as critical to the anti-aging process: Matrixyl 3000. L-Carnosine, Hyaluronic Acid, DMAE Bitartate, and Alphia Lipoic. M3K will leave you feeling beautifully hydrated and refreshed from the first use and its light rich texture is a pleasant change from the myriad of thicker and oily products on the market today. M3K also offers this unique formula in an anti-aging hand cream, which is a rare find in today’s market.”

Check out m3kbeauty.com for more products for the face, hands, for him and for her.

Wella Professionals Transform Anne Hathaway for the 2013 Met Ball

Anne Hathaway goes Platinum Blonde!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RED CARPET HAIR BY SASCHA BREUER USING WELLA PROFESSIONALS

Hair Look:

Celebrity Stylist Sascha Breuergave Anne Hathaway a strong punk yet glam hair look for the 2013 MET Ball that was held in New York City tonight.

“Drawing inspiration from unforgettable punk icons like Poly Styrene from X-ray Spex and Joan Jett, I decided to go for a look that’s glam, edgy and yet very youthful and fun. We kept the style much shorter for Anne and had a lot of fun playing around with it. To enhance her punk look further we decided to take her hair to the next level: A new cool Platinum blonde color and the sharp slightly boyish finish with loads of texture were the perfect match,” says Sascha Breuer.

Step-By-Step Styling

1.       Start by applying a golf ball sized amount of Wella Professionals Extra Volume Mousse to damp hair for the perfect foundation and to provide hold and volume.

2.       Blow dry the hair into shape using your fingers or a skeleton brush. Dry the longer hair on top back and upwards by gently pulling the hair away from the scalp to boost the volume and some lift to it.

3.      Push brush and dry the sides flat to the head backwards allowing them to set narrow to the head.

4.       Once the hair is completely dry use a small amount of Wella Professionals Bold Move styling paste. Spread the paste evenly between the palm of your hands and work the product through the mid length and ends to create a deep, slightly messy texture.

5.       Mist hair with Wella Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Spray to ensure that your style will last all night.

Wet is the New Dry

One of the biggest things I here from my clients in the salon is, “I have split ends” and “How can I prevent them”?  Your hair is very fragile when not treated with respect.  There are quite a few ways you can experience split ends.  To name a few, over processed hair, using the wrong shampoo for your hair type and even the use of the wrong hair brush.   Yes, the wrong hair brush can be the result of split ends. When your hair is wet it is in a very delicate stage.  When you tear through your hair with any old hair brush you are causing the bristles of the brush to act like razor cutting off little pieces of hair as you go.

With the newest product called “The Wet Brush” you can finally brush through your hair without causing breakage.  The secret is the IntelliFlex Bristles.  They are firm yet flexible ball tip bristles that go through your hair without ripping, and detangle with ease.  Even on my thick, unmanageable curly hair I can use the Wet Brush without having to put conditioner in my hair.  In addition, these bristles provide a massaging action that stimulates circulation on the hair follicle.

“The Wet Brush” is ideal for anyone who cringes at the thought of brushing their hair. Try it out for yourself and see what you think.  You will fall in love with it.

Sweet Dreams Are Made of This

Haven’t found the perfect Mother’s Day gift yet? Well, I have found the perfect gift Mother’s of any age can enjoy.  It is the new fragrance from Mariah Carey called Dreams. I can’t think of a better name than Dreams for a fragrance, especially one you are contemplating buying for your mama.  You will amaze your mom with this timeless light scent that is sure to have everyone asking her what she is wearing.

Mariah Carey’s Dreams is a light floral scent with top notes of salted caramel apple, star anise, bergamot and toasted almonds, Middle notes of honeysuckle, freesia and lily of the valley and Base notes of patchouli, Tonka bean and Madagascar vanilla that you can be sure will last throughout the day.  When Mariah was creating this lovely scent she described it as entering another world.  I know just what she meant. When you spray your signature fragrance on every day you enter your own little world. Wherever that may be, you know that fragrance is for you when your wildest “Dreams” come true.

“The process of developing a fragrance is exhilarating and it takes me to another place within my creative self, which is why I enjoyed creating Mariah Carey Dreams. I humbly call myself a ‘perfumer in training’ because I love it so much – almost as much as I love making music. I have the utmost respect for the perfumers because they have the ability to combine a few simple scents into a classic and exciting fragrance.” – Mariah Carey

So instead of hesitating what to buy mom, let her experience her own little world with Mariah Carey’s New fragrance “Dreams”.  Trust me after 18 years of raising children she deserves a little “getaway” into her dreams. Get your own bottle today simply by visiting your local Kohls Store or by visiting her personal site at http://www.mariahcareybeauty.com/

Love Louboutin? Try the Manicure!

What can I say….I love romantic comedies!  My DVR is filled with nothing by funny, feel-good movies like “The Holiday”, “Love Actually” and “Notting Hill”.  Another favorite is  “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.  But it isn’t just the comedic banter that keeps me coming back to watch it again and again …..it’s the shoes.  Specifically the gorgeous Christian Louboutins Margaret (Bullock’s character)  is wearing when she kneels down to ask Andrew (Reynolds) to marry her.  I’ve been dying for a pair ever since!

Today I spotted a Louboutin-inspired manicure that I also love and am definitely going to try and wanted to pass along.

All you need is:

  • 1 red nail polish (I like Classic Red by Gabriel Cosmetics!)
  • 1 black nail polish
  • 1 cotton swab
  • Nail polish remover

First:  PAINT UNDERSIDE OF NAIL TIPS RED — With your palms facing up, paint a thin coat of red nail polish to the underside of your nails.  If your nails are shorter and don’t extend past the fingertips, use a set of clear press-on nails and paint the bottoms before applying them to your own nails. Apply two coats of red polish on each finger and repeat the process on your other hand.

Next:  CLEAN UP THE  SKIN SURROUNDING NAILS
Dip a Q-tip or a wooden nail stick tip wrapped with tissue into nail polish remover. Use the wet end of the Q-tip to remove any red polish that may be left on your skin.

Then:   PAINT NAILS BLACK

Finally,  paint two coats of black polish onto the tops of your nails (you may also want to use a base coat prior to this step).   If you don’t like black or if you want more of a daytime look, try using a beige or cream polish instead!  Finish with a top coat.

FABULOUS!

OOH LA LA BOUTIQUES LAUNCHES PRIVATE LABEL WITH AFFORDABLE SUMMER LINE AS OF APRIL 5, 2013.

Ooh la la Boutiques (www.oohlalaboutiques.com) launches their private label with an inaugural ready-to-wear summer line that will be in stores and available online on Friday, April 5. The summer line consists of “fashion-forward ‘girly’ pieces in a mix of classic looks following trends,” owner Jenny Montiglio shares. More than fifty new products are included in the collection that contains dresses, skirts, shorts, pants, shirts and sweaters at reasonable prices that range between $18 to $88.

After seven years in the women’s apparel retail business, Montiglio is excited to launch the line and said, “To be part of the design to manufacturing process allows us to keep focus on quality and conscious on price, which is our biggest concern with sourcing for our customers.”

Chic shapes and high-voltage shades of the “Candy Girl” look give a dose of spring time sweetness with samples that include a light hued striped cardigan with mint trim, high-waisted maxi halter dress in a pastel blue jay egg tint and neon green, and azure blue mid-thigh length wrap-around dress. The collection of “Black & White” combines prints and solids of these hues for an edgy yet elegant appearance with items such as a herringbone-like long black tank dress, striped shorts and shirts and an embroidered sleeveless black button-down. Neutral colors with vivid accents give “Scent of a Woman” pieces a polished feminine air that includes mid-thigh flowing sleeveless dresses belted in pinkish nude and chic cut-out screens in navy, as well as a sheer white top and pale pink skinny jeans. “Dream Weaver” is inspired by tribal concepts matching delicate silhouettes with bold turquoise colors and ethnic patterns. “Double Mint” brings the color of the season to the forefront in all types of clothing from a lace dress, thin long-sleeved sweater, see-through top and sleeveless light denim button-down. Fierce and flirty, “Gotham Glam” brings camouflage into a sheer loose-fitting button-down top, double breast pockets into a short navy dress, and raw edge rips into cut-off dark denim jean shorts and cotton tops. “Heavy Petal” brings the bold pattern of romantic florals with a chic vibe in a peplum skirt, crop pants, tank top and summer weather shirts.

Ooh la la Boutiques serves women of Long Island with stores from Long Beach to Sayville and ladies nationwide through their online shop with price-conscious, fashion-forward clothing, accessories and shoes. Women of all ages walk into the closest of their dreams when they step into Ooh la la Boutiques with selections of vintage to modern, casual to classy, sexy to chic, and edgy to classic styles.
