A Great Day in LA

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

We had a great, fun day in LA today.  Our “Get Glam” photographer Marcelino Garcia arrived.  He took his dad Rudy along. We had lunch at the hotel and then headed over to Beverly Hills to visit our friend, two time Academy Award nominated singer and songwriter Carol Connors.  We brought her chocolate from See’s Candy (she and I both love chocolate} and she made us some delicious frosted chocolate brownies. She played the piano and sang for us.  What a treat…the great music and the chocolate brownies!

We headed to the Farmer’s Market after that for sushi with our friend Anthony and our “Get Glam” host Sarah and videographer Eduardo.  Our LCPR and It’s a Glam Thing sponsors are getting ready for the first day of the gifting suite tomorrow and I need to get caught up on e-mails.  Tomorrow should be fun and hectic!

Travel Tips, Dogs and a Swan Balloon

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

We are finally in LA after a long day of traveling and packing and working till about 3:00 am this morning!  I got these couple of good travel tips from the September issue of Southwest Airlines Spirit magazine:

At the airport security checkpoint, send your shoes and jacket through the X-ray machine before you send your carry-on.  You can put them back on as you wait for your bag. (Submitted by Southwest traveler Don Murphy)

Traveler A. Torres “always take a few medium sized binder clips.  They help save space when folding up the used end of a toothpaste tube and they keep room curtains securely closed.

From this issue, I learned that a dog’s memory span lasts about 30 seconds and how to make a swan balloon!

Recently someone asked if I had lower eyelid surgery. We are in the beauty biz so the question didn’t seem odd to me. He said my eyes looked great…and no, I didn’t have surgery! I just use quality products. You should too. Try IS Clinical C Eye Advance + . It’s by Innovative Skincare. It lightens under-eye circles, reduces puffiness, the appearance of crow’s feet & more. Check out the entire Is Clinical line! www.innovativeskincare.com

I am drowning in a sea of Green by Nature! I can’t get enough of their products. Last night I used the Almond Cocoa Total Body Wash, the Almond Cocoa Total Body Scrub and the Almond Cocoa Body Butter. This morning I slathered the Banana Shea Body Lotion all over and used the Mint Green Tea Hand Cream on my hands. I have never used so many products from the same line in such a short amount of time! My niece snatched up my Beeswax Lip Butter! www.greenbynaturebeauty.com

Corsets & DuWop

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Keith just brought me the IAGT & LCPR mail and Ladies Home Journal, October issue, came in. Paula Deen is on the cover holding a home made pumpkin pie with a jack o’ lantern face. LHJ is giving away 25 Sex and the City: The Movie DVDs. I found out this LHJ historical news: “At the turn of the century American women squeezed themselves into corsets in pursuit of the ideal 20 inch waist.” Today the average woman’s waist is 37. The mag is celebrating it’s 125th Anniversary this year! I learned that their May 1913 issue made history with its “What Can We Do About Cancer” article. Until then, that was considered an inappropriate topic for open discussion. I am anxious to try the DuWop EyeCather Eye Color Intensifying Eyeliner that is featured in the Beauty Journal on page 46.
