“Celebrity Home Decor” On A Budget

Have you ever dreamed of having your home decorated like a celebrity? I can help! Today on Arizona Midday, I shared some of my favorite ideas and budget friendly products to help you achieve a celebrity designer look for your home without breaking the bank! Enjoy.

arizona_midday_1

1. Wall Pops Nuwallpaper- Celebrities like Khloe Kardashian have been known to use expensive designer wallpaper as an artistic accent in a room in their home. Designer wallpaper prices start at around $300 a roll and go up from there which means it can cost thousands of dollars to add wallpaper to just one wall in your home. I love Wall Pops Nuwallpaper because they provide a great way to get a celebrity look for less with their removable wallpaper in an array of eye-catching designs and patterns. Now, you don’t have to pay a fortune to achieve a great look that’s right on trend! Wall Pops Nuwallpaper is removable so if you get tired of the look in a year or two and want a change all you have to do is peel it off and replace it with a new Wall Pop Nuwallpaper design. It’s that simple! They’ve got you covered with patterns and colors to suit everyone’s style and something for every room of your home from the babies nursery, to your living, dining, bedroom and bath and more! The best part is the price of $49.99 a roll. Now we can all afford to decorate our walls just like a celebrity!
Chyron: www.wallpops.com
2. Downlite- Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez spare no expense when it comes to Hotel style down bedding for their stylish homes. If you’ve ever experienced a luxury hotel and the luxurious comfort and feel of the bedding then you understand why it’s well sought after by the rich and famous to incorporate into their own homes. I love Downlite because their affordable prices allow you to get the
look and feel of celebrity high-end luxury hotel bedding in your home without breaking the bank. Downlite has been manufacturing down and feather bedding, pillows and sateen sheet sets for over thirty years. The quality, look, hand of the fabrics and prices are  amazing! Prices start at $20 and up.
Coupon Code for viewers = SOC0011, 20% Off your purchase
Offer expires 8/31/16
Chyron: www.downlite.com
3. White Sheepskin Rugs-White sheepskin rugs and animal skins have always been a chic celebrity look but as an animal lover I can’t bear to use the real thing or to pay the high price tag that they carry! The technology of fabrics and rugs has come a long way as scientists and manufacturers have learned how to assimilate designer looks using synthetic fibers. Now you can find alternative
sheepskin rugs that give you the same celebrity luxurious feel and look without the high price tag at stores such as Home Goods,Target, Amazon.com and more! Prices start at $19.99
4. Accent Lamps and Shades-The three G’s Gold, Glitz and Glam are hallmark traits of every celebrity home that you will find in accent lamps, to upholstered furniture and accessories. Celebrities have the bank account to afford expensive designer looks but let’s face it not all of us can afford to purchase designer accessories for our home. I love JCPenney because they have great designer looks for every room in your home without the high price tag attached. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to create the same celebrity designer looks and ambience in your home. Bring the three G’s into any room in your home with a lamp or lampshade to create a fabulous focal point at a fraction of the price that celebrities spend. I love this chic celebrity Gold lamp and chevron design lampshade look that I found at JcPenney for under $200. It’s Gold, it’s Glitzy and it’s oh so Glam!
Chyron: www.jcpenney.com
5. Monogram Status-What’s not to like about the look of a nice monogram towel, robe or sheet set? Celebrities love to take this age old custom designer look and apply it to their own homes. I think they like to see their name in lights as much as they like to see their initials on white towels or linens. While it’s true that Mongram items such as towels, sheets or accent pillows have always been a luxury and a sign of status in society for the rich and famous it’s also true that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to achieve this status quo for yourself. Since Mongram items are usually custom made it can cost a pretty penny to purchase them for your own home. I have great news! You can find an array of monogram towel sets, accent pillows and more for a fraction of the cost online and at stores such as Target and Amazon.com. Now you can also dress up your home just like a rock star and have money to spare for your next big soriee!

arizona_midday_2DIY on the FLY- Here’s a little celebrity design tip secret-Shhhh…Celebrities often pay their designer thousand’s of dollars to stage their library with beautiful books. What most people don’t know is that their designer has created the look by covering their books with beautiful gift wrap or handmade paper. It’s so simple anyone can do it and it’s a great way to put old wrapping or wallpaper to good use while creating a celebrity look for your own book shelves.

Here’s how it works. 1. Sample a wine (as if you needed an excuse) 2. Pick a Theme (The game comes with 54 hilarious themes to inspire your winescribing 3. Write your hilarious wine

2. Eleni’s Conversation Cookies-No luncheon is complete without some sweets and cookies are a must. I love Emeni’s famous conversation cookies. These cookies are absolutely adorable and yummy at the same time. There are several themes to choose from to go with your tablescape and party theme. They really add a special touch to any luncheon, party or event. What I love most about this company is that they have something to fit every party theme that you can imagine and they give back to several charitable organizations so each time you bite into one of Eleni’s cookies you are contributing to helping others through your purchase. Eleni’s also offers cupcakes, design your own cookies, which are great for a kid’s party as well as corporate gifts, gift boxes, gift tins and darling party favors. Prices range from $4.00 to $70.00 for gift sets.

3. Tablescape Placemats and Napkins-You don’t have to spend a lot of money to achieve a beautiful look for your table. I love to use white paper doilies for placemats, coasters or as liners for my serving pieces. They also make beautiful envelopes for invitations. The best part is that they are inexpensive. You can buy them at any party in a variety of sizes and prices start at .99 cents. I am also a fan of repurposing items or shopping at vintage or thrift stores for fun finds. One of the thinks that I love to collect is vintage hankies. They come in a variety of beautiful fabrics, patterns and colors and they look lovely as a napkin for a luncheon or tea. It’s also a great party favor for your guests.
4. Serving & Centerpieces-When it comes to entertaining I always look for unusual ways to serve my guests after all presentation is what makes any event memorable. I am also very passionate about creating unique centerpieces for the table. A centerpiece is just as important as the invitation when it comes to setting the tone and theme for the luncheon or event. I love to use two or three tier serving dishes for each guest if it is a luncheon or tea or to create centerpieces with a combination of food and flowers. I also love to use cookie cutters to create fun shapes for finger foods such as tea sandwiches. It’s so easy and adds such a charming detail to the food. Here’s a little secret. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to achieve this. You can purchase them at thrift stores or by shopping at stores such as Target or Home Goods or you can make them yourself by using items from around your home, purchasing vintage pieces at thrift stores and simply using a hot glue gun to glue candle stick holders, cups and plates together to create a two or three tier serving plate. You can use these at a luncheon as an individual plate with tea sandwiches, veggies, fruit and flowers or as centerpiece serving dishes for your guests. Have fun with it. I can promise you will be the talk of the town when you set your table this way.

img_6565
5. Tea Forte-No luncheon is complete without a great tea. I love Tea forte. Their teas are infused with the finest ingredients and the presentation is elegant, unique and simply chic! Their signature pyramid design topped with a green leaf is a delightful way to drink a cup of tea and it makes a great conversation piece at the same time. Your guests will love it. Oprah said it best…“If you’re a tea
lover, this is about as good as it gets. Whole leaves picked from the tea gardens of China are hand-packed in pyramid-shaped infusers that give buds lots of room to bloom into a spectacular cup of tea.” – Oprah Tea Forte offers a variety of choices when it comes to tea. They offer individual tea, loose tea, gift sets, beautiful tea ware and so much more. The little details are what matter most and
Tea Forte serves up a sophisticated and charming cup of tea that will create a memorable experience for your luncheon guests. Prices approximately $10 and up.
Chyron: www.teaforte.com
6. Individual Place settings & Party Favors-I love to use mismatch china, silverware or glassware and hand pick the pieces with the pattern design that I feel best represents each of my guests personalities. I also love to create something beautiful for each of my guests as a place setting. I have always loved teacups because well, I love tea, but I also love the way it feels to hold a beautifully
handcrafted teacup in my hands. Teacups are so elegant and they make beautiful party favors for your guests. You can fill them with chocolates, bath salts or flowers to dress up each place setting and to serve as a parting gift for your guests. You can find them at thrift stores or discount stores such as Home Goods.

Throwing an Easter party? or hosting a brunch? I have some super simple ideas to help you dress up your table and create a fun centerpiece that all of your guests will love.  I used old mason jars, a glass mug and a few figurines that I found around my house to make these adorable mason jars that I filled with candy to create the perfect centerpiece for my dining table. Here is how you make it!

Supplies: Assorted glass jars with lids, candle stick holders in desired heights, ceramic, paper or plastic seasonal figurines, animals, knobs etc. to decorate your lids, Hot glue gun, Spray paint in desired color, assorted candy, nuts etc. to fill your jars with.
Step One: Spray paint the jar lids, your desired decoration toppers for your lids and your candle stick bases in your desired color(s) and let dry.
Step Two: Use your hot glue gun to glue your jars to the candle stick bases and the decoration toppers to the center of your lids.
Step Three: Fill your jars with your desired candy or nuts and display.
Step Four: Create a display using your jars on your table or give them as a unique homemade gift to someone special.

I used faux grass that I found at Michaels craft store for the center of my table and created a display using my candy jars with sprinkled paper flowers. I love the way it turned out and most of the items that I used I found around my house!  You don’t have to spend a lot of money to decorate your home or to make a festive centerpiece for your next party, holiday or special occasion. DIY on the FLY No Sew Tutu Easter Basket

diy_tutu_easter_basket_julee_irelandClick here to watch the video tutorial: https://youtu.be/rDBgYeiuw2g

I love Easter because Spring is officially in the air and bright colored flowers are in full bloom. I also love seeing kids all dressed up in their Easter attire and all of the excitement that the Easter bunny and the Easter egg hunt bring.  For my daughter’s first Easter I started a tradition of making her an Easter basket each year. It is something that we both look forward to. I thought I would show you how to make this adorable removable No Sew tutu Easter basket so you can start a tradition of your own. It is so simple you won’t believe it. Here’s how you make it!

Supplies: Basket (consider upcyling a basket you already have), Tulle, Ribbon, Silk Flowers Hot Glue Gun, Spray Paint (optional), Scissors
Step One: Spray paint your basket your desired color (optional).
Step Two: Cut your 5/8” ribbon your desired length making sure to add extra ribbon to the total length to tie the tutu when around the basket and a waistline when finished. Cut your tulle in assorted colors into 20” x 1.5” strips.
Step Three: Double your strips and loop them around your ribbon, pulling the fabric back through the center and pulling tight. Follow this step around your entire basket.
Step Four: Glue a flower onto the center of your tutu as an embellishment.
Step Five: Tie your darling tutu around your basket and fill it with goodies.

What I love most about this basket besides the fact that it is adorable is that the tutu can be removed and used for play!  It’s a double duty gift that any child can enjoy. Don’t be afraid to get creative and have fun making your tutu Easter basket. DIY Coat Hanger Heart Wall Art

diy_heart_wall_artClick here to watch my video tutorial: https://youtu.be/X-AGhbZluzQ

I LOVE to get creative with items I find around my home.  I have a collection of wire coat hangers in my hall closet from my dry cleaners and I thought I would put them to good use. I thought why not turn them into decorative heart wall art for my gallery wall? All of the supplies that I used I already had in my home and it took me less than five minutes to make each wall art heart. Here’s how you make them for yourself!

Supplies: Wire coat hangers, Pliers, String, Fabric or Trim of choice (yarn, lace, twine, burlap, ribbon, fabric, trim, lace etc.), Hot glue gun, Spray paint (optional) Small command hooks, nails or picture frame hooks (as you desire.)
Step One: Use your pliers to cut off the curved loop at the top of the hanger. Spray paint your hanger your desired color (optional).
Step Two: Bend and manipulate the wire hanger into a basic heart shape. The twisted part of the hanger (which was once at the top) becomes the bottom point of the heart shape. Don’t worry about making your heart perfect. “Perfection is in the imperfection” and the imperfection is what makes it interesting and gives it an organic feel.
Step Three: Choose a material that comes in long strands – yarn, lace, twine, ribbon, burlap, etc. Secure one end of your material to the bottom of the heart with hot glue. Then, stretch the strand across the shape and secure on the wire with a dot of glue. Continue to crisscross the strand back and forth across all areas of the shape, securing with glue along the way. When the entire heart is filled in with overlapping lines, snip off the remaining material.
Step Four: When you are finished making all of your hearts, lay them out on the floor to decide how you want to arrange them on your wall. Lastly, hang them up using one or two small nails or small command hooks for each heart. You can also use one as a Valentine’s Day wreath for your front door. So cute!

I love the way this project turned out. Can you believe how simple it was? Who would have ever thought wire hangers could look so beautiful? Have fun creating your own wall of hearts. Be sure to check out my YouTube channel and my new web series DIY on the FLY at www.youtube.com/c/juleeireland and please like, share and subscribe. Each month I post new DIY on the FLY video craft project tutorials for your home and lifestyle. They’re always chic, easy, super fun and budget friendly to make!

Incorporate Love Into Your Home Year-round

Love_Heart_Valentines_Day_Julee_Ireland_TelevisionFebruary 14 is the day that we celebrate love but I believe that love should be celebrated every day.  I recently had the pleasure of sharing these four simple tips to incorporate love into your home and life year-round on the Studio 10 Tampa show with Stephanie Webb and Toby Hall and I wanted to share them with all of you. Yes, that’s Toby Hall as in the former Major Baseball League pro baseball player for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He was the co-host for the day and it was quite fitting as his Anniversary was on February 14! We had a lot of fun. Be sure to watch the video clip on our blog and I hope these tips bring lots of love into your home.

Love_Valentines_Day_Julee_Ireland_Studio10_Tampa_News_Toby_Hall

1. The entry to your home is your first impression and it’s the perfect place to set the tone for Love. People tend to glance to the right as they enter a home so it’s a great place to display a beautiful table with an open bowl or a family or couples portrait on the wall holding hands, sharing a kiss or family hug. Remember, if you enter a home with a feeling of Love, you will exit with Love.
2. Out of our five senses, the strongest is our sense of smell. Scents remind us of people, places, and life experiences that we love. A scent has the ability to transcend us to another time and place. Placing candles or essential oil room fragrance throughout your home in various scents that fit the mood that you wish to evoke in each room, is a great way to connect your sense of smell to your heart and home. You can easily create feelings of happiness, harmony, tranquility and Love. Lemon and Orange is uplifting, Lavender is calming and is known to relive stress, Eucalyptus promotes balance, and Vanilla or Ylang Ylang is alluring and romantic. My candle pick besides my own soy candles at www.juleeireland.com is a line I discovered at Cosmoprof called Naturally Bare. These are Reiki Infused Organic Soy Candles with a line of body products. I love that they are all natural, affordable and I love the clean sophisticated look of the line!  www.naturally-bare.com
3. There’s no better way to bring instant love into any room in your home than through a vase of fresh, fragrant, colorful flowers. Choose a vase that fits the look and feel of your room and use a variety of seasonal stems that match your accent color in your room to brighten your space year around. When it comes to roses my favorite company is Spring in the Air Luxury Roses.  What could be better than two dozen Roses fresh from the grower in Colombia sent straight to your doorstep? I order the roses monthly and because they are fresh they last two to three times longer than flowers that you purchase through a supplier such as a florist or grocery store.  They are the most beautiful roses ever! I promise you will love them. www.springintheair.com It’s a Glam Thing exclusive. Use coupon code WOW at checkout for 15% off your order!
4. Surround yourself with Love at home by displaying meaningful art, photos, books, or words to remind you daily of the things that matter most in your life. Make your home a gallery filled with Love. Wayfair is my go to place for everything for the home. They have great prices and something for everyone’s taste.  The wall art I featured on the show is from Wayfair.  www.wayfair.com

I hope these tips and a few of my favorite brands help you to celebrate love year-round. xoxo

DIY on the FLY Box of Roses

DIY Box of Roses

In honor of the month of February, Valentine’s Day and the celebration of Love especially for the love of beautiful roses; I thought I would share with you my latest video and a DIY on the FLY box of roses craft project.  This is so easy anyone can make it and the real beauty is that you can make this any time of the year for yourself, as a gift or as a centerpiece for any holiday, event or life celebration.  Be sure to check out my YouTube channel and my new web series DIY on the FLY at www.youtube.com/c/juleeireland and please like, share and subscribe. Each week I post new DIY on the FLY video craft project tutorials for your home and lifestyle. They’re always chic, easy, super fun and budget friendly to make!

Here’s how you make a gorgeous box of roses…

Supplies: box, plastic liner, disposable plastic container that will fit into your box or Saran wrap to line your box, wet floral foam, floral tape (optional), spray paint or wrapping paper to decorate your box (optional), ribbon (optional), scissors, blue painters masking tape for stripes (optional), flowers (various varieties of roses and peonies work beautifully).
Step One: Use your masking tape to mask off a design for your box. Such as: Stripes. (this is optional) Next, use your spray paint to paint your box in your desired color. Option Two: Use decorative wrapping paper, old sheet music or photos to wrap or create a collage with ModPodge on the exterior of your box.
Step Two: Line your box with your plastic liner, container or plastic wrap.
Step Three: Cut your wet floral foam to fit inside your box. When your floral foam is cut to fit; saturate it well with water and put it into your box. Optional: Use your floral tape to create a 1” grid on top of the box as a guide to insert your roses into the center of each square.
Step Four: Cut your roses at a 45 degree angle so that they are the correct height to fit just over the top of your box. Insert your cut roses into your wet floral foam or into the open areas on your tape grid.
Step Five: Add a Ribbon band, bow or handwritten message of Love and Voila! You’ve just created a lovely box of Roses!

Lastly, be sure to email me photos of your own creative box of roses so that I can post them on both of my blogs. I would love to brag about you! Email your photos to: juleeireland@gmail.com for consideration.

Clear Your Clutter, Create New Success in 2016

Clutter_Organization_Julee_Ireland_2016_Home_New_YearClutter hinders your psyche more than you know both at work and at home. When physical items invade your space that are not needed or that are unorganized it affects you physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It’s like an invisible force that causes stress, has a negative effect on relationships and your health and it can hinder your ability to act and think clearly blocking success in all areas of your life. With each passing year you continue to grow and change. While change is good holding onto things that no longer reflect who you have become is not a good thing because it creates negative energy. Let’s start the New Year off by clearing out the clutter and opening up your heart, home and workplace to create success! Here are some simple tips to help guide you.

Step One: Take time to walk through the different spaces in your home and office and sit for a while. Look around the space and write down the items in each room that make you feel discomfort, that clearly no longer reflect you and that you feel you can do without. If you give yourself time to sit, think and explore each space you will be surprised at what you discover on your own.

Step Two: Now that you have explored and taken notes throughout your home and office it’s time to prioritize! Make a list of the areas you wish to declutter first. Pick the space in your home or office that makes you feel the most unsettled and that’s the most disorganized.

Step Three: Before you start with your first space be realistic about setting a time frame to complete the task and start small! Begin with a drawer, cabinet or counter and create three piles. One, to give away, two, to throw away and three, items to keep.

Step Four: Remove pile one and two from your room and begin placing your third pile back into your space in an organized fashion. Don’t just toss or put things back into your cabinet or drawer because all you would be doing is creating smaller clutter. It’s important to reintroduce your items into your room in an orderly, organized manner with thought and intention behind it. And be sure to dust and clean along the way to truly revive your space and your soul at the same time.

Step Five: As you finish eliminating clutter in each area of your home or office take the time to marvel at your success. With your hand over your heart take in some deep breaths through your nose and breathe out through your mouth. Ask yourself how do I feel? Do I feel calmer? Do I feel lighter? Do I feel inspired to move on? If your answer is yes to any of these then by all means carry on!

I sincerely hope by clearing out the clutter in your life it helps you to open the door to a renewed home, health, happiness and success in 2016. I would love to see your before and after photos and feature them on my blog. Please feel free to email them to me at juleeireland@gmail.com along with any of your thoughts or comments. Happy New Year!
