The Mane Choice brings you Ancient Egypt

If you have read my blog recently, I found a great shampoo line called  The Mane Choice. I have been using The Mane Choice for quite some time now and having nice results. The line has offered features for my hair such as detangling, softening, extra shine and strengthening. The Hair Mask was amazing!! You can imagine how excited I was to learn of another line they have, The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian Anti Breakage and Repair Antedote.  As soon as I see “Anti-breakage” I know I am going to try it. After all, I want to keep as much of my hair as possible. Pony tails, headbands and decorative combs and hot appliances have caused breakage to my hair and I have a few split ends that I want to get rid of now!

The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian Anti Breakage and Repair Antedote line consists of 5 products; Shampoo and Conditioner, Hair Mask (used every 1 t 2 weeks), Oil which I use often for fabulous softness and shine, and a Split-End Treatment Serum. Right off the bat let me tell you they smell amazing. You will get the benefits of the tropical scents while washing and conditioning your hair and afterwards, with the split end treatment, Oil and Hair Mask. This Ancient Egyptian line is excellent for repair as well as prevention so everyone in the family can use it no matter what their hair type is. I love how my hair looks and it feels soft as ever.  I am loosing a lot less hair in the shower and not a split-end in sight.

As stated by The Mane Choice, “During the ancient Egyptian times hair was something that was considered a personal and important method of self-expression, and from the high positions of the pharaohs to the lowly servants, a great deal of thought was put into the way that they wore and cared for their tresses. Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Collection has come close to duplicating the most historical formulas used during the ancient Egyptian era. Filled with some of the most rare and robust natural oils such as Kalahari Oil, Oleaster Oil, Mongongo Oil, and Baobab Oil to strengthen, repair and add remarkable shine.

My younger daughter loves the Split-End Treatment Serum too! I’m sure it won’t be hanging around the bathroom too much longer. Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Split-End Treatment Serum is formulated to replenish and prevent split ends. Loaded with fatty acids omega 3,6,and 9, this powerful serum willleave your hair stronger, shinier and healthier. The Serum penetrats deep within the layers of the hair shaft and prevents and repairs cuticle damage. The serum really does work.

Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Shampoo & Conditioner gently cleanses and conditions your hair helping to protect and repair damage.  I use the shampoo and conditioner every time I wash  my hair. They both contain fatty acids omega 3, 6 and 9, reduces frizz, reflect damaging UV rays & protect hair from the sun, helps to replenish hair & fight against split ends and strengthens and moisturizes. All great qualities when choosing the perfect shampoo and conditioner

Of course, the older I get the more I notice my hair becoming dryer and fragile, the Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Hair Mask does the trick for me. It is the best one hour spent deep conditioning. After the mask treatment, my hair feels great, I feel great! The hair mask contains all the properties the shampoo, conditioner and serum do. The mask gives you added moisture for much stronger hair. You won’t know the difference until you try it.

Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote Oil (Retention Oil) is a perfect choice if you adore Hot Oil Treatments. I choose to add a little bit of oil to my scalp every few days for the shine and the smell. Like I stated earlier, the oil smells amazing. My daughter could  smell the tropical scent on me which was a big reason for her trying the serum.

Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote are formulated WITH Signature K.O.M.B. Oils (Kalahari Oil, Oleaster Oil, Mongongo Oil, Baobab Oil)

Ancient Egyptian Anti-Breakage & Repair Antidote is formulated WITHOUT Mineral Oil, Petroleum, Parabens Sulfates or formaldehydes.

You can find The Mane Choice Collections at their website, Target, Walmart, and other large retail stores nationwide.

The Mane Choice Haircare is my Main Choice

I love my latest find in hair care. It’s called The Mane Choice. I was intrigued by the fact that the line claims to “nourish, grow and retain hair”. Yes!!! You read correctly, Retain Hair! I really need this particular feature in a shampoo right now. Each time I wash my hair I notice more and more strands falling out…Yikes!

The Mane Choice Haircare Line  was created by a Physician and Registered Nurse duo (who are also husband and wife!)  offering solutions to common hair problems.

What makes The Mane Choice line so unique is that it is infused with vitamins and essential nutrients including Biotin, Vitamin A, B, C, D, & E. After the first use, I felt my hair soft, silky and bouncy. I have very curly hair so I am quite fussy about the haircare products I use and The Mane Choice is a keeper.

Easy On The CURLS Detangling Hydration Shampoo worked beautifully for me. My hair is very dry so I do not wash it every day.  Easy On The CURLS Detangling Hydration Shampoo kept my hair hydrated until the next washing. The shampoo also aids in eliminating knots and tangles, which for me, is a huge reason my I lose hair in the shower. Easy On The CURLS Detangling Hydration Shampoo is infused with Biotin and Vitamin E which adds to the healthiness in your hair which I noticed after the first shampoo.

Compliment your hair washing routine with Soft As Can Be Revitalize & Refresh 3-in-1 Co-Wash, Leave-In, Detangler. This is a 3 in 1 conditioner that is a conditioner, a leave-in conditioner, and detangler. I found that the shampoo and conditioner worked so well I didn’t need to “leave-in” the conditioner but it is a good feature to have.

Applying hair masks is definitely something I need to do more of.  It was when I used the Green Tea & Carrot Deep Strengthening & Restore Mask Treatment that I realized I need to use this product as recommended about every 1 to 2 weeks. After using the mask I immediately felt my hair having a softer texture. Green Tea & Carrot Deep Strengthening & Restore Mask Treatment is enriched with biotin, green tea, and carrot oil and the mask will immediately begin to repair and restore dry and damaged strands.

You only need an extra 15 minutes (with heat) or 1 hour (without heat) every week or so. This may seem like a lot of time especially if you don’t have a dryer like myself, but it is definitely worth it.  After shampooing, apply a generous amount from root to end and massage gently into  your hair. Cover your hair with a plastic cap and sit under a dryer for 15 minutes or leave on with a plastic cap (I used a shower cap) for up to 1 hour without heat. Rinse thoroughly and style as usual. The mask works great for natural, relaxed, permed, and colored treated hair. My 20-year-old daughter is using the mask too and loves it.

If you want to add a supplement to your hair care routine, consider Metabolism Plus. This is a daily complete dietary supplement formulated to grow hair on the scalp longer, thicker, faster and healthier.

The Mane Choice Haircare line contains an array pf products ranging from shampoos, conditioners,  an Ancient Egyptian line, Hair tools, and vitamins. You can find The Mane Choice Hair Care line at or at Target, Sally’s Beauty, Rite Aid and CVS Pharmacy.

My interview with Dr. Holly Ray regarding permanent birth control for women

Permanent birth control is a personal decision each woman must make, and needs to take into consideration what would be right for her and her family.

Education and options are essential for women when making a choice about something like this.

I was looking for more information about permanent birth control options after reading the results in a survey taken by Bayer that included 1,000 women in the US.

Here are some of the survey highlights:

• The women were ages 25-45

• All of the women in the survey were in committed relationships

• The women were done having their children

• 44% were concerned about getting pregnant again

• 66% would consider a permanent method that did not involve surgery

I was delighted to be given an opportunity to speak with Dr. Holly Ray, DO, FACOG who has a general obstetrics and gynecology practice, including preventative care, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Dr. Ray was the perfect person to answer questions regarding permanent birth control from a professional and personal perspective.

Practicing Board Certified OB/GYN – in Oshkosh, Wisconsin]

Here is my interview with Dr. Holly Ray:

1.Vicki: Dr. Ray, regarding permanent birth control who should consider having this done?

Dr. Ray: Well that is the million dollar question. It’s only for women who are done having their children, have completed their childbearing, decided they the right number of kids in their family, and are ready to make that decision! They’re ready to make a choice that an unintended pregnancy doesn’t occur! You know, that’s different times for different women! Whether they come to that conclusion, if and when they come to that conclusion …..That’s the time they should consider to talking to their doctor about it.

2.Vicki: Ok, that makes a lot of sense! What is the name of this procedure, and how does it work?

Dr. Ray: It’s Essure and it’s pretty neat! It’s a device that causes your body to seal off the tubes and make a barrier against pregnancy occurring. It’s an office procedure… We take a little camera and go up into the uterus and place these little soft inserts. Over a period of time there’s a barrier that forms around these inserts. That is what blocks the tube off. It keeps the sperm from traveling down the tube and meeting up with the egg inside the uterus. It’s really slick!

3.Vicki: Wow! It seems like it’s minimally-invasive, as well. Dr. Ray, what are the benefits of a procedure like Essure?

4. Dr. Ray: Essure is done in the office. Patients come in like an office appointment, and the procedure is done in 10 minutes, literally, sometimes less. It’s done right the office under no incisions and under local anesthesia. The patient is watching, on the screen, while we do it. Most of them are too curious not to watch… Then they go home within 45 minutes and go back to normal activities in a day or two. Really, there’s a minimal down time for recovery. It’s non-hormonal, and actually over 99% effective in preventing pregnancy.

5. Vicki: If that’s the case, once you have the Essure procedure, are you able to go off the birth control pill?

6. Dr. Ray: Yes! Once you’ve gone through the procedure, we stress that you have to do something for 3 months while that’s “setting up shop” in the tubes and forming that barrier. Some form of alternate birth control is given, just so we know the patient will not get pregnant in those 3 months. They come back in 3 months and a physician will do a dye test or confirmation test that shows that the inserts are in the right place and the tubes have been sealed off. Once that’s done they don’t need to do anything else.

7. Vicki: It’s unbelievable what wonderful new techniques are available! Dr. Ray, is the Essure procedure reversible?

8. Dr. Ray: No.. I try to stress that when I’m talking to patients, that if there is ANY doubt in their mind they should NOT have the procedure because it is not reversible! Once you do it it is permanent.

9. Vicki: Essure seems like such a nice procedure, that I would think anyone who would choose to have it would be very happy with the ease of the whole experience.

10. Dr. Ray: Yes… As I talk to patients about it, I get pretty good feedback on the whole ease of it and how they would do it again. They are very happy with Essure.

11. Vicki: Dr. Ray, You have actually had the Essure procedure yourself. It must be wonderful for your patients to know that they can talk to their doctor about a procedure that she has experienced. As a result, do you find that your patients find Essure more of a “doable” option for them because of your personal experience?

12. Dr. Ray: Yes, I think they do. I certainly share that with most of them. You’re right, it’s empowering to know you have that control over your fertility. You know I’m in women’s health. That is the whole purpose of my life to be able to give these women that option. I think that’s the greatest thing we can do…to at least be able to give them the option to be able to control that (fertility).

Vicki: Thank you so much for your time, Dr. Ray. I wish you ongoing success with your Oshkosh, Wisconsin OB/GYN and preventive care practice. This was such an informative an enjoyable interview.

(Quoted and Paraphrased information in this article regarding the Bayer Survey was obtained from a PR-Fact Sheet. Gratitude to Dr. Holly Ray for taking the time for this interview.)

Fat Grafting 101: Your Guide To Facial Fat Transfer

Most people want to appear more youthful as they age, but time often tends to take a toll on someone’s face. The phrase “fat transfer” may sound unusual, but the fact is that it’s a healthy amount of facial fat that gives your face a youthful look. Whether you find yourself aging or have lost weight, you may discover that your cheeks or temples appear sunken, or that your face is lacking the youthful roundness it once had. If this sounds like you, you might be a candidate for fat transfer.

How Does Fat Transfer Improve Your Appearance?

In a culture where fat loss is a focus, it may seem strange to say that transferring fat to your face is a good idea. However, when you are young, facial fat is what’s responsible for smooth contours and the youthful “glow” that many young people have. As you age, these contours become less smooth. This is often due to a variety of factors. These factors include a number of things, including weight loss and gravity.

While getting a leaner-looking face as you age may sound appealing, the fact is that a rapid loss of facial fat will often lead to sunken-looking cheeks, circles under the eyes, and hollowed-out temples. With fat transfer, you can improve hollows in your face and smooth out the overall look of your complexion, making yourself look younger and more full of energy.

Where is the Fat Taken From?

This procedure is called “fat transfer,” but before you commit to undergoing it, you likely want to know where the transferred fat is coming from. The fat is transferred from another area of your body, typically from the thighs or stomach. This may sound off-putting, but the fact is that facial fat transfers generally involve small amounts of fat. Thus, while you will have two areas to heal–the site of the initial fat harvest and the transfer site–each area will be relatively small.

The harvesting of fat is typically done very inconspicuously, so you can expect little to no scarring from the procedure. Of course if you are concerned about scarring, be sure to talk to your surgeon–he or she may be able to help ensure that you have as little scarring as possible. And because the amount of fat taken from a different area of your body tends to be very small, you likely can work with your doctor to choose from a variety of areas of your body.

How Does the Procedure Work?

Facial fat transfer is a two=step procedure. In the first step, fat is taken from another area of your body, typically the thighs or stomach. This fat removal is accomplished through liposuction, in which a cannula, or slender tube, is inserted beneath your skin. The cannula then essentially vacuums fat from beneath your skin. Because the only incision in liposuction is the tiny hole the cannula makes, you likely will have either very little scarring or no scarring at all once the incision has healed. And because the amount of fat removed is very small, you also are not likely to notice a major difference in your body contours.

The second phase of the procedure is the transfer of the harvested fat to your face. The fat transfer involves injecting the collected fat under your skin. First, though, the fat is purified. Once it is injected, your surgeon will make sure that it’s spread evenly under your skin to ensure maximum smoothness and best results. And because the injection sites are so small, you won’t experience any lasting scarring.

This procedure is popular with those who want to look younger, but who don’t necessarily want to pursue major surgery on the bones of the face. Because it doesn’t involve your bones, recovery time is generally shorter than the recovery time for rhinoplasty or other major surgeries.

How Permanent Are the Results?

One of the main draws of facial fat transfer is the fact that it’s permanent. Barring extreme weight loss, the contours created by adding a bit of fat to your face are there to stay.

Therefore, facial fat transfer tends to be a preferred method compared to other methods of facial rejuvenation. Other methods tend to focus just on the surface level of your face, but this one works at a level below the skin to help ensure lasting results.

How Can I Choose a Surgeon?

If you have decided facial fat transfer is for you, or if you want to schedule a consultation to see if it’s the right option, your next big step is finding a surgeon.

However, this can often prove to be a difficult task. For many people, distance is understandably a limiting factor, as nobody has unlimited time and resources to travel thousands of miles to see a surgeon. If you have the finances and ability to travel far, though, it may be helpful to also search outside of your immediate geographic area.

You also will want to look at several examples of each surgeon’s work. You may find that, across even many types of patients, a given surgeon’s before and after pictures catch your eye. If this happens, it’s well worth giving this surgeon a closer look.

And lastly, as you search for surgeons, keeping your budget in mind is useful. Some offices may offer payment plans, and others may be able to refer you to a medical credit agency that can help you manage debt from the procedure.

Ready to Get Started?

If you miss your youthful facial contours and are ready to pursue fat transfer, you may be eager to find a surgeon. If you are in or near the Miami area, Dr. Bustillo may be a good choice for you. Andres Bustillo, M.D. is board-certified and well known for his expertise in various forms of facial surgery and other cosmetic procedures, including fat transfer.

Hotheads hair brushes get you instagram ready

The experts at Hotheads,  along with renowned stylist, Frazier Voloshin, offer insight into how to make your hair the buzz on social media. Hotheads is the premier hairbrush line developed by stylists with over 50 years of experience addressing a variety of haircare needs.
To start, simply prepare your hair by using a styling product that works with your hair type and style you wish to achieve.  For example, to create big hair a volume spray is a must.  For a smoother finish, use a frizz free spray.  Be mindful to keep the hair damp at the roots and throughout the hair when round brush styling. This will give a stronger, lasting style/set.
To create a smooth sleek finish, be sure to use tension and a drop and drag motion with your styling brush through the hair.  Hotheads’ Mr. Smoothy is a good choice because it gives you “Grip & Slip” when needed for more control when styling.  Hair sits on a cushion of bristles side-stepping contact from the hot barrel of your brush preventing heat damage to the hair.  The design of the bristles organizes the strands evenly and smoothly, giving you more control when styling.

For a voluminous or glamorous Hollywood look, try Hotheads’ Speed Brush. Take a section of hair and wind around the brush making sure the section is no larger than the brush base, heat with dryer till dry, let cool and continue with another section.

Frazer Voloshin a top stylist at Curious Salon in Aspen Landing, Calgary adds: “I love my Mr. Smoothy.  I use it on most of my clients.  Whether I’m straightening the thickest curly mane into a smooth, flowing, sexy shape or giving the finest hair volume, and lift, it is my go-to brush.” Here are Frazer’s tips for creating sexy beach waves. For a beach wave, dry hair to 5% moisture left.  Take horizontal sections, starting in the nape.  The section should be just a little less than the width of the barrel of the brush.  Take 45 degree sections through this using the same width. Wrap the diagonal section into the brush, up and around the barrel. Heat until dry.  Cool it down quickly while unwrapping the section. This creates a softer curl to the hair on the outside, and a little stronger to the hair more insulated in the center.  As you get to the ends, spin the brush in the same direction as the curl pattern. Dropping the ends after 2-3 rotations.  Voila, instant beach babe hair!

Weight Watchers Diet – Lose Weight And Feel Great

If there was a weight loss plan that allowed you to:

  • Lose weight safely and permanently.
  • Be rewarded you for weight loss.
  • Follow easy plans and
  • Be part of a community that helped you in your fitness goals..

..would you not love to be part of such a plan?

Well, you do not have to wait and look around anymore because the Weight Watchers diet is all this and more.

Holistic approach

The Weight Watchers diet is all about your whole health status. Yes, weight loss is a central aim but overall health is of paramount importance. This approach extends to their diet plans as well. It is, therefore, all about:

  • Making healthier eating choices.
  • Making behavioral changes that help.
  • Focusing on nutritional values of food items.
  • Allowing an individual to eat whatever they want but
  • Making eating a smart and points-based activity.

How does it work?

Every food has a value assigned by the Weight Watchers diet program. It is known as SmartPoints® and it is based on a combination of sugar, protein content, saturated fats and calories of course. You have to follow a certain budget and choose foods according to the same and keep going on your path to fitness.

There are also FitPoints® that you can notch up when you indulge in specific exercises such as walking, gardening and so on. Everything can be synchronized with your fitness device and your Weight Watchers account. You can reference and keep track of your exercise, weight loss, nutrition goals and so on.

What’s interesting?

The Weight Watchers diet differs from most other diet plans in one major area – it does not forbid anything. So, go ahead, eat whatever you want.

The rider is that you stay within your SmartPoints target. You are allowed meet a daily target and you can choose to spend your SmartPoints on alcohol and desserts, fruits and veggies or ice creams and cakes. Interesting isn’t it? Obviously, low-calorie foods and healthy options cost fewer points.

How easy is it?

There are two main aspects to this diet that make it pretty easy to follow:

  • Nothing is taboo when it comes to food.
  • It is aimed at the long-term weight loss goal.

There is nothing drastic about this plan. So, you will find yourself making long-term habit changes over a course of time which makes it easier to stay within a healthy eating pattern.

Mental and physical

Weight loss is not just the physical aspect of life. Here is where the Weight Watchers diet scores high over a large number of diets out there. With their ‘Beyond the Scale’ program, Weight Watchers has been able to get people around to knowing and internalizing the fact that weight loss takes place only when they eat healthy, choose personalized fitness plans and make changes to their mindset as well.

This kind of overall program helps people make consistently healthy choices rather than weaving in and out of healthy and unhealthy eating. The weight loss is sustained and made permanent too.

Lip Obsessed? 4 Tips for Luscious Lips

The desire for full lips is not anything new. From classic bombshells like Brigette Bardot and Sophia Loren to today’s starlets such as Margot Robbie, Angelina Jolie and Rihanna luscious, kissable lips is a trend that never goes out of style. Kylie Jenner has made lip augmentation a hot topic with countless selfie pouts and millions of Instagram followers. Social media is always buzzing with debates over models with fuller lips. How full is too full? When does it start looking fake?

Why such an obsession with a perfect pout? We spoke to Dr. John Zannis board certified plastic surgeon in New Bern North Carolina, to get to the bottom of why now, more than ever the lips are a facial focal point and what women can do to achieve the look.

People see Kylie Jenner’s Instagram and think they’ll just get lip injections too. “The more that celebrities admit to having lip injections and the more attention this particular procedure gets in the media, the more accessible it becomes. The danger is that the procedure is complicated. Not just anyone can do a lip augmentation,” explains Dr. Zannis.

There are ways to work with what you got. Dr. Zannis explains that the key is to strive for facial symmetry. “If you use lip liners, glosses and other cosmetics to create a fuller look consider your other features and natural lip shape.”

4 Tips for Luscious Lips

  1. Use matte liquid lipstick.

Liquid lipstick is popular because it’s easy! It goes on like a lip-gloss but dries matte on your lips like a lipstick and is nearly impossible to smear or take off without makeup remover. Liquid lipstick ideal for creating a bombshell look for night out or special occasion where you want lipstick to stay put for a long time.

You can use it to make your lips appear fuller, shapely and defined, depending on what your “perfect look” entails. Try one of the best-reviewed brands like LA Splash Cosmetics or Kat Von D.

  1. Go for lip fillers.

Dr. John Zannis who works with fillers explains that lip fillers are a great option if you want to alter the shape and volume of your lips semi-permanently. “They mostly contain hyaluronic acid, which can be injected safely in multiple sessions. The amount is easy to control by a skilled cosmetic surgeon or licensed professional, which allows you to achieve your goal gradually. The effects last around six months, at which point you may do another round of injections.” He goes on to say that achieving a natural look is the goal and that over-filled cartoon mouths look distorted.

  1. Try some cool contouring techniques.

Contouring is another awesome makeup trick to achieve a fuller look. It involves using lighter and darker shades of makeup to play up your features and give you a more defined, chiseled look. The great part is you probably have all you need in your makeup bag already. There are plenty lip-contouring tutorials on YouTube for free.

  1. Use a lip plumper.

Lip plumpers are great in that they are easy to use, are non-invasive, work fast and are affordable. They’re typically infused with lip tingling ingredients like cinnamon, pepper and peppermint which leads to an instant yet slight swelling.

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme is a popular choice amongst make-up artists and beauty industry pros. When used both morning and night the difference is noticeable fast!

Clearly there are many options to achieve your “perfect” pout. Experiment!

Having the Appearance of Great Hair

Keep your hair looking good

Keep your hair looking good

It has been said that a woman’s hair is her crowning glory and I agree. Hair is VITAL for a female. Thick, long healthy hair exemplifies youth. The length and style signify clues to your age, health and overall attractiveness. The key to hair is to try and make it appear as healthy as possible. This can be accomplished by taking the proper vitamins, proper conditioning and regular trims and covering any grays.  Also a deep conditioning monthly is recommended especially in summer months.

Internally is where you must start to build great hair. A vitamin such as Biosil will benefit your hair, skin and nails.  Christy Brinkley recommends this product and I have followed in her steps.

It is said to promote healthy bones and joints as a side bar plus. I also eat jello which has a lot of protein.

Bad hair can be a huge detriment to a woman’s look. If your hair is less than healthy looking, you can add extensions, wig lets or a wig. A lot of celebrities and models utilize these options. When I go on stage, I love extensions that clip in. I even have wigs when I want dramatically different looks. Clip on extensions are fairly easy to put on. You need to match the color as close as possible. Start at the bottom of your head and clip in the first row of hair. make another row an inch or two above that from one end of your ear to the other and clip in another row as so on. the last row should be put on top but having enough hair on top so that you are unable to see the extension. If you need side extensions you can attach those as well for desired styles. After that brush lightly at ends and style with your fingers. Extensions give length and or volume. I am not a fan of permanent extensions as i feel that they ultimately damage the hair. The clip ins should be taken out before you go to bed. Wig lets can be clipped on also as well as pony tails. The key is to blend your natural hair into the style. If you wear a wig this is not necessary. Get a wig cap, some bobby pins and place the wig cap on. When it is secured place the wig on your head. Secure the wig to your head and you are good to go. Make sure none of your natural hair is poking out.

It is important that all the frizz is taken out to seal the hair. This can be done in sections or only the places that need it.

Flat irons and curling irons can create dramatically different looks. Curls tend to be viewed as very feminine. The flat iron can make hair smooth and take away frizz. I find that when I get a blow out I can then do either curls or smooth depending on the look I’m attempting to attain.
If you wear hair spray, make sure it is light and doesn’t stick in place. Too much hair spray is often associated with old ladies and it’s just wrong. Stiff hair that doesn’t move isn’t attractive.
Long hair is sexy and can help you look more glamorous. Short hair works for some people, but make sure it is not too short. The finer your features and the thinner and younger you are, the easier it is to pull off short styles. If you are overweight — don’t go too short.
Now let’s delve into hair color and roots. In life we have to brush our teeth, floss, shave, clean ourselves, etc., and when someone lacks the motivation to do these things, they start to deteriorate their self-presentation. Keeping up with your hair is the same thing. There is nothing worse than a girl with roots. Not only do long dark roots look cheap, but they convey a lazy attitude and lack of interest in presenting one’s self in the best way possible.

Some hair issues are harder to take care of than others. Hair color is important and can affect your beauty routine depending on how much maintenance it requires. Remember if you choose a color that is difficult to maintain, it could wreak havoc on your hair if it has to be done too often. Damaged hair is not attractive.

Curly hair can be especially hard to deal with, and this one I know firsthand! It can get frizzy and look unkempt depending on the weather and texture of your hair. Curly hair needs lots of conditioning.

Home remedies for great hair are wonderful. You will find many examples in my chapter specifically devoted to practical applications using items you have in your home. Healthy smooth hair is a sign of beauty. It is important to protect it through good diet , vitamins if necessary and regular conditioning treatments. It is not necessary to wash your hair every day. I usually go a week without washing my hair, but if your hair gets greasy fast then of coarse you may not be able to go that long. If your hair is curly then it will need extra care as it can get frizzy and dry. If it is color treated then it will also need more conditioning especially if it is bleached. I recommend deep conditioning treatments whenever your hair needs it. Here are some home remedies that you can use for your hair. Washing your hair- If your hair is very dirty you can add baking soda to your shampoo. If you want to go chemical free then you can make a paste out of baking soda and massage it into your head or you can get a cup of water and put one table spoon baking soda and stir then massage that into your head to clean it. After that rinse and put 2 tablespoons spoons of apple cider vinegar to one cup warm water and let it sit for a few minutes. After that rinse.
It is important to comb hair gently with a wide tooth comb. You do not want to yank it. The hair should be combed at the ends and work your way up to detangle after washed.

Hair Masks conditioning treatment-
olive oil
almond oil
coconut oil

I keep my hair on the longer side so that it does not kink up. After a good wash, always comb your hair right away. If you put product in it and work it through with your head upside down and scrunch it with your hands it can make nice natural curls. Do not brush it. For smooth styles it pays to go to a blow dry bar. I can leave my hair for a week with a professional blow dry. The other option is Brazilian Blow out. My friend actress business woman Esther Marie is always on the go and loves this option. It makes her hair smooth and shiny. She says its easy to maintain.

If your hair is wavy or straight, a professional blow out can be nice to put body in the places that you want it. Blow dry bars have become very popular. They specialize in blow drying and styling hair, are much more cost effective than full service salons and offer great service. Their employees are quite skilled at doing a great job. As a rule a person cant do as good of a job on their own hair than these people can. The hair comes out smooth and nice and tends to stay that way unless it gets wet. If you aren’t going in for a cut or color but just want a stunning style, opt for a blow dry bar!

Sometimes getting your hair done professionally is not an option so use these tips for the best blow out you can give yourself.
When blow drying your own hair, spray on a heat protector first. If you have curly hair you will need to put some tension on the brush and make sure the hair is completely dry so it does not frizz up! Section off the hair and dry each piece separately until the whole head is dry.

Donna’s Diaries- My hair is naturally curly so it takes some work to make it behave and keep it properly conditioned. I really like to spend my money on my hair including professional deep conditioning at a salon but you can do this yourself at home also.

It is important to have a style that suits your personality, but it should also be current. Since a mane of hair can make all the difference in your look, it is important to make time for regular trims. Sometimes it is fun to try on wigs of various colors and styles to see what looks best on you. I even think it is fun to have wigs to wear on those days that you want a totally different look. Beauty is all about putting things together to make the style and look that best fits you. Don’t make drastic changes! Always experiment slowly. But if you do make a mistake, there are always extensions…

Hair Extensions
There are many different types of hair extensions that can look quite beautiful when added to the natural hair; however, this choice is high maintenance and usually very expensive. The plus side is you can shower with them in and carry on as if they are part of your natural hair. The downside is that it sometimes causes damage to your natural hair. This can result in breaking and potential hair loss.
Professional Falls, Wigs and Clip-ons
Today, we have many choices when it comes to clip-ons and hair pieces, which can create a quite glamorous look when added to our natural hair. I like clip-ons because they are easy and low maintenance. I use them to enhance my natural hair when I want more dramatic styles. They do not damage your hair, so they are essentially risk free. Plus, you can get top notch human hair clip-ons for a reasonable price. If you get synthetic ones they are not expensive and great for occasional use. DO NOT TRY TO CURL THEM WITH A HOT IRON! The manufacturer already has them straight or curled. They will melt if you try.FullSizeRender (3)

Natural hair clip on’s are wonderful but cost much more.  The bottom line is to make sure your hair is as healthy as you can get it to look and if it needs help then move forward with both internal and external choices. Do not ever leave clip ons on constantly. I wear mine for a night or day then remove them so my hair does not get pulled out.

My girlfriend who is a Beauty Queen & actress, Shanna Olson says that she uses these clips for easy styling.

All of these options will help make your hair look better if utilized properly!

Top Hairstyles for Every Hair Length That You Can Try Today

A good hairstyle complements your dressing and boosts your confidence. Fashion is from head to toe and hair is a very significant part of it. Finding a hair stylist who can get your hair to look just the way you want it (or saw it online) can be quite difficult. If you have asked yourself “how can I find hair salons near me?” then the hair salon directory is what you are looking for. If you are looking for inspiration for your next haircut, the following are the top hairstyles for the three hair-lengths; short, medium and long.

Short hair

There is often the notion that short hair has limited styles. Contrary to this, there are so many things you can do with short hair like coloring it, curling it or adding in extensions. The three most popular hairstyles for short hair include:

– Camren Bicondova, a young American actress, is the ambassador of short curly hair. This look is great if you want to maintain a young and fun look. You may need a bit of mousse and hairspray if your hair is not naturally curly.

– Jaime Pressly has been rocking it short and straight and killing it. The back of this cut is usually tapered close to the scalp and can be worn with bangs or a side part. Sleek and shiny with bold color looks great with this cut.

-Short hair can also be wavy with a tapered cut that is short and shaved close to the scalp at the back and longer at the front. This style has a variety of cuts, quite popular with celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Jenifer Hudson.

Medium length hair

Medium length here is also popular today, especially with the short messy bob. The term ‘messy’ is used quite loosely as there is a lot of effort that goes into making it look as good as it does. From Jennifer Lawrence, Beyonce and even tailor swift, the messy mane has
been worn in various ways to create a chic and trendy look that works for any occasion. You can add a twist to this look with highlights or two-toned color. Flamingo pink and blond has been one of the best combinations so far as worn by Katy Perry.

Long Hair

It is hard to go wrong with long hair if you choose between one of the three acceptable ways to wear it: curly, wavy or straight. The choice of curls, waves or straight hair often depends with the shape of your face. Nice and neat waves look great on long hair, so if you are going to curl it make sure they are tight and neat. If you have a messy mane, you can
tame the frays in a side or back fishtail, tie it up in a messy bun or style it up in the classic French twist for a dressy event. Straight long hair can be tricky if you do not know how to wear it right. A slick bun is one of the trendiest ways of wearing straight hair.

Brenda Hynes is a fashion stylist who has worked with celebrities before. You need to find the right stylist to help you achieve your ideal look. You can use the hair salon directory to find great hair salons near you.
