Give Your Wardrobe A New Vibe

When it comes to the clothes we wear, they can often be seen as a reflection of who we are and our personalities. So it is important that you take the time to wear the clothes you love, the clothes that make you feel good and think about how you put things together. The problem is, that sometimes we can feel a little self-conscious when it comes to wearing certain things. Society has an opinion, and we also may have dress codes to adhere to. But it doesn’t have to be this way, and you can still stick with the rules and give your wardrobe a fresh new vibe. If you want to know how you can do it, then read on to find out.

Put more focus on the shoes you wear

Shoes are by far one of the easiest ways you can change the way an outfit feels and looks. A pair of jeans teamed with a t-shirt can be casual one minute and then be completely changed the next by simply changing the shoes you are wearing. Focusing on this side of things alone can help you to start feeling better about the clothes you are wearing. If you always seem to wear one sort of style of shoe, change things up a little. Why not try a different style of shoe for a change and see the difference it could make in regards to how you look but also more importantly how you feel in the clothes you wear.

Clear out the clutter in your wardrobe

Often we can get ourselves into a rut of feeling drab just by looking in our wardrobe and not being able to see past the clutter. Are you one of those people that keep items of clothing just in case? Sometimes we can leave ourselves with too much choice and this means that although it looks like we have loads of options, we can’t see past it and choose the same items over and over. Maybe you are one of those people who are hoping to fit back into a particular item of clothing one day or something you think will be trendy again once more? Maybe there are items in their that hold sentimental value. If you haven’t worn something in over a year, what makes you think you ever will? Is it time to ditch the clutter? Perhaps really look at what you have in your wardrobe and make some tough decisions. You may find that you feel far more inspired with less to choose from.

Take a moment to consider your accessories

Accessories are just as important as the clothes that you wear, so it is important to start thinking about them and how you can match them into your style. Whether you choose to invest in a Gucci bag that will be able to be sued for many outfit options, look at different belts that can jazz up a pair of boring jeans, or even think about hats, coast, scarves and glasses. These are the things that will just add another level to your outfit. Accessories also mean things like jewellery, so don’t forget to add a few items to your staples, especially if you are wanting to dress up a little.

Stepping out of your comfort zone

Sometimes it can be fun to step out of your comfort zone and try different clothes and styles. It may be a new colour that you have never worn before, we have already covered how colours can transform your day to day look,. Or maybe a new style of trousers or top. You can start with small changes, or you can really try and be drastic with your changes and views. Don’t be afraid to make these choices and changes. Do what feels right for you, but many people suggest that you can get a sudden surge of confidence just by stepping out of your comfort zone. Who doesn’t want that at any stage of their lives?

Dressing for your figure and body shape

Finally, dressing for your body shape and figure can make a huge difference. Not only to how you look in the clothes you are wearing, but it can definitely make an impact on how you feel and your confidence levels. Sometimes you need some guidance on this, and thankfully there are some great tips online to help you distinguish the type of cuts, fabrics and shapes of clothing that are ideal for your own body shape. Often just making this change alone can drastically change the way you approach your shopping and how you dress daily. Feeling more comforted in your own skin.

Let’s hope these tips help you to give your wardrobe a new vibe.

Mindfulness and Acne “Stick with It” – A Mantra for Coping with Acne

“Mindfulness” is the word on everyone’s lips lately. The practice of being mindful reminds you to be aware of the here and now and stay present and focused. What’s in the past is gone. What’s in the future may be out of your control. When it comes to treating acne, however, what’s in the future may actually be something you can influence.

Acne can be troubling and difficult to ignore since there’s always a physical reminder that it’s still there and it’s often hard to hide. In turn, it can also affect your self-confidence and your self-esteem. To combat this issue, apply your mindfulness techniques to help you stick with the acne treatment regimen that your dermatologist may have recommended for you. Sometimes that may be challenging, because some acne medications may be irritating and leave your skin red, flaky and peeling, tempting you to be less than compliant. Altreno® (tretinoin) Lotion, 0.05% from Ortho Dermatologics, might help to make sticking with your treatment routine easier. Altreno® Lotion is the first and only tretinoin lotion, designed with women in mind, providing efficacy and tolerability with a once-daily dosing. Its elegant lotion formulation helps women achieve beautiful skin by working to treat their acne. Altreno® Lotion is a smart choice tretinoin because of its hydrating formulation (0.05% tretinoin) that fits seamlessly into a woman’s existing skincare regimen

  • Has the established efficacy of a tretinoin
  • Suitable across skin types
  • Can be used day or night, once daily application

3 Ways to Design Your Own T-shirts

Have you always wanted to have a t-shirt that you’ve designed? Maybe you have a specific design in mind that you have never been able to find in stores, or maybe you want to be creative and be able to wear your creation to show it off. Regardless of the reason, designing your own t-shirt can be a fun way to express your artistic abilities.

There are a few different methods of getting a design onto a t-shirt that require different skills, so depending on how much effort you want to put into your t-shirt, you can choose the method that’s right for you.

Of course, you can always go to a t-shirt printing shop, like the Manchester based t-shirt printing shop Garment Printing, and have all the hard work done for you. If you prefer to roll up your sleeves and do it yourself over a weekend, then read on.

  1. Screen printing

Screen printing t-shirts can seem complex and intimidating, but once you’ve got all the materials and have everything set up, it’s actually easier than it looks, and it’s quite cost-effective. The supplies you need are a screen and frame, which you can find at any craft store, photo emulsion and sensitizer, a 250-watt bulb, silkscreen fabric ink, a squeegee, latex gloves, your t-shirt, and a pitch-black room to do it in – your closet or windowless bathroom will work perfectly.

Create your design (if this is your first time, you may want to try something simple with blocky lines) using a solid black image since you need to block out light. Print the image onto transparency paper, which you can do at any print shop if you don’t have it yourself.

Next, you’ll want to coat your screen in emulsion, so follow the directions on the bottle on how to mix it before laying the screen down over a garbage bag and coating it with the emulsion with the squeegee. Leave it in your pitch-black room until it’s completely dry. After it’s dry, lay down a black cloth or board and put the screen and frame with the screen side down over the black surface. Tape your transparent image on top of the screen where the emulsion is, and then turn on your 250-watt bulb (which should be about one or two feet above it). Wait for 10 to 15 minutes before pulling the transparency off and check if the image is burned into the screen. If it is, clean the screen with cold water until your image is clearly seen. Let the screen dry before moving onto the next step.

Lay your t-shirt out onto a flat surface, then lay the screen over the shirt, placing the design where you want it to be printed. Pour a small amount of ink on the top of the screen and then in one strong, smooth movement, move your squeegee down the screen. You may want to run the squeegee over the shirt a few times to make sure the ink gets pushed into the fabric. When you’re satisfied, lift the screen up, toss the t-shirt in the oven for 30 seconds at 400-degree heat so the ink sticks, and you’re done.

  1. Transfer sheets

A much easier way to print an image onto a t-shirt – but sometimes with poorer quality results – is to simply print out your design onto transfer paper. You can buy transfer sheets from any craft or fabric store, which can be fed right into your printer at home.

All you have to do is decide what design you want, print it out, then iron it on to your t-shirt. Make sure to firmly and evenly iron on the design, otherwise, it can start to flake and peel off in certain places, but be careful not to burn your t-shirt in the process. You can put down a piece of cotton fabric in between your iron and the transfer sheets to help prevent burning.

  1. Fabric paint

If you’re a bit more artistically inclined and want to free-hand it or use cut-out stencils, you can buy fabric paint and paint your design directly onto your t-shirt. Put a piece of cardboard under the shirt so the fabric paint doesn’t seep through onto the other side of the shirt and so you have a more stable surface to paint on. Don’t forget to let it dry for at least 24 hours before wearing it.

4 Steps To A Good Night’s Sleep

We all know that sleep is important to us, and yet few of us get enough quality sleep. On average, adults need between six and eight hours of sleep a night, every single night. When we do manage to do this we feel better, we feel healthier and we are our better selves, from our mood to our productivity. This is why today we want to focus in on this important area for our well being and share with you 4 steps to a good night’s sleep.

Exercise

Exercising will both tire you out and help to keep your body in good condition, both of which are conducive to sleep.

Go for something that you enjoy and aim to ensure that you have completed it at least an hour before you plan to go to bed to give your mind and body time to wind back down.

If you are exercising close to bedtime, choose activities such as yoga with meditation to help you to relax and ensure you are comfortable wearing clothing from brands such as Glow

Watch what you drink

Alcohol and caffeine are not likely to lead to quality sleep, so avoid them where possible, certainly close to your bedtime.

On the other hand, drinking plenty of water throughout the day can actually help you to get a better night’s sleep, so switch out the cups of coffee for glasses of water a few times each day and you will soon feel the benefits.

Write lists

How many times have you struggled to get to sleep because there is simply too much swirling around inside your head?

Writing lists can help you to sleep better by implementing a few different strategies.

Firstly, many people swear by journaling, so take the time each evening to write a short entry reflecting back over your day. You might theme it around things you have enjoyed, things you are grateful for, or keep it to just one line or mood to sum up your day.

It is also then worth writing a to-do list for the following day. This gets all of those swirling thoughts out of your head and onto paper, giving you a simple list to work through the next day. By writing them down your mind does not keep throwing them back at you just as you are trying to drift off to sleep.

Finally, keep a notebook next to your bed in case you are struck by things during the night. You can note them down and park them until morning.

Get comfortable

You are going to need to get comfortable in order to fully relax and drift off to sleep.

Ensure that you are wearing loose fitting and comfortable nightwear and opt for a sleep inducing scent

Be aware of your temperature as it can be hard to sleep if you are either too hot or too cold, so make sure that your bedding is appropriate for the season.

You might also want to invest in a good mattress, and with so many different types out there, it is worth doing your research before buying. Try as many as you can to see what works for you.

Change What You Desire, Accept What You Can’t Change

pixels.com pink

There are many little treatments and schools of thinking that can culminate into full confusion for someone who has beauty or self-confidence as a priority. There are some who feel that you shouldn’t ever change your perceived flaws, because the reliability of your own opinion may not always be accurate. For example, we see those with eating disorders often feel they are too large to be acceptable, despite having trouble eating anything for months. This is quite clearly a saddening affair, and never something to celebrate. However, if we feel that we dislike the shape of our nose, or the angle of our chin, or sometimes the extra skin we have from losing a large amount of weight – should we feel so bad about wanting to change this?

This can get quite confusing if you think it through in a complex manner, but getting to the heart of your needs and wants is essential when considering changing your appearance. To that we would offer a simple philosophy to help you through this – change what you desire, accept what you can’t change. Let us see how this can come into fruition in the best manner possible:

Change What You Desire

There are many who look down upon those who get corrective surgery, or wish to feel more confident by improving certain assets, or by getting rid of a perceived flaw. This is because we see celebrities who completely change their faces in an effort to preserve youth, or those for whom surgery becomes an addiction. But we do not feel the same way about someone who dyes their hair, or has a mole removed, or wishes to cover up certain stretch or birthmarks. So why should we feel bad about ourselves if we wish to have small corrective work done, such as digital smile design procedures to get that glorious, warm smile we have always wanted? Sometimes, expressing yourself more healthily can be achieved through these methods. In some cases, such as removing gynecomastia in young men, it can make all the difference in the world.

Accept What You Can’t Change

Accepting ourselves as a baseline consideration will always be appropriate, and worth keeping hold of. It might be that you do have that mole, or that birthmark that is hard to cover, or perhaps you have a lazy eye. Sometimes, instead of worrying about this throughout our entire lives, accepting what we can’t change is important. Sometimes, your perceived weaknesses are actually strengths. If you can achieve that, then you are sure to accept what you can’t change more thoroughly.

Develop Self-Love Habits

It’s not all about your image. It’s about who you are as a person, what you have learned, and the love you have to give. You needn’t be the most attractive person in the world, nor the most perfect. It sounds cliche, but it truly does matter what is inside. When you think alongside these lines, aging, physical flaws or imperfections will not affect you nearly as much.

With this advice, we hope you can change what you desire, and accept what you can’t change.

Check Out the Opera While Visiting Philadelphia

For hundreds of years, the art of the opera has existed to delight, captivate, and enthrall audiences in many languages, all over the world. Cultures throughout time have heralded the opera as one of the finest examples of art in all the world.

The first known exhibition of the opera as we know it today was of Jacopo Peri’s Dafne, which was written in the late 1590s. While this opera has not survived the passage of time, the first recorded history we do have is of Monteverdi’s Orfeo in 1607. This was of the Baroque form of opera often shown only to wealthy courts throughout Europe. From then, it soon became wildly popular with the masses.

There are also the classical, romantic, and 20th century periods of opera which influenced the composers of those times. But, don’t take our word for it – have a look for yourself at Opera Philadelphia. This could be the treat of a lifetime, as you take a trip throughout the annals of opera.

Opera is Good for you – Make it a Date

During the 2019–2020 season, you can see Verdi’s Requiem throughout January and February 2020. There’s an acclaimed production of Handel’s Semele set to take place in September 2019. Don’t forget Let Me Die by Keckler, showing in September 2019, as well. Opera Philadelphia makes it so easy to buy tickets and stay apprised of all shows right from their website.

Going to the opera is soothing for the soul. According to a Pavia University study, operatic music can help with stroke rehabilitation, lower blood pressure, and slow the heart. In fact, Diana Greenman, the CEO of Music in Hospitals, has discussed the massive benefits of listening to music after a stroke or a heart attack.

Where to Stay

If you’re coming from out of town, you’ll want to make a whole weekend out of a trip to the Opera Philadelphia. There are many luxury hotels in Philadelphia to accommodate your every wish. The Bellevue Hotel is one of the most popular. A living landmark that brings you back to Philadelphia’s gilded age opulence, this hotel could just be the centerpiece to an edifying cultural excursion. The on-site XIX Restaurant is one of the best in the city. Across town, the Philadelphia 201 Hotel is another solid option. Part of Logan Square, this hotel is just a short distance to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Love Park, so it makes a good home base for more cultural exploration.

Experience Universal Art in its Fullest Form

Let’s face it, there isn’t any other art form that can compare to the unique experience of going to the opera. It is both music and theater, brought to you by the world’s best composers. You hear singing, but you also get to witness the architecture, sculptures, poetry, dance, paintings, and history unwrapping itself for your enjoyment.

Some of the oldest operas are some of the best to watch because you not only get to see the art forms of the past, but you can take a bit of history with you in the memory of the beautiful stories and scenery.

In previous centuries, opera was once reserved only for the privileged classes but today – it can be enjoyed and savored by anyone who is motivated to be passionately moved by the scores and librettos.

The experience is personal, yet intense. At Opera Philadelphia, you can relish all that and more. If you haven’t seen it, the one opera we’d recommend you must see is Madame Butterfly, which will be showing in April through May of 2020. And, there are also lectures, seminars, and a festival to attend. As you savor the operatic scenes, you can also increase your knowledge and your empathy for others

So, what are you waiting for? Plan your opera viewings today.
