The Science Behind Ramune Soda

by Lisa Gal

The origin of the word Ramune is Lemonade. In Japan in the 1870’s the Codd-neck bottle, designed by mechanical engineer Hiram Codd, was used to store Lemonade. The clever marble isn’t just a fun way to access this carbonated beverage, but rather when sealed the pressure of the carbonated drink pushes the marble upwards against the lid sealing the drink securely without leaking the gas. Ramune can now be found all across the United States. This is definitely a celebrity favorite, so it is always highly anticipated in our Hollywood Swag Bags. We are thrilled to include them this month in our gifting at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills for the big red carpet weekend!
