Are your breasts getting in the way of your exercise routine? Are “the girls” sore after a run? Do you find yourself dancing with less impact because of breast discomfort from bouncing? Have you been pierced by an underwire?

“There are a couple of ways exercise causes breast pain,” says OB-GYN Alyssa Dweck, M.D., author of V is for Vagina. “One of the more common culprits is muscular strain, which can occur from strength training.” But, she says, “high-impact exercises like running can also stress the muscles and ligaments in your chest, causing discomfort and soreness, especially if you’re wearing a less-than-supportive bra. Another way your bra can cause injury is via the underwire, which can become damaged or misshapen and pierce or otherwise hurt your breast tissue”

Have you ever been at the gym, dance studio or out on a run and witnessed a woman holding her breasts to protect them? Have you noticed your breasts sagging more than usual since you started your rigorous work out routine?

Information from the Research Group in Breast Health at the University of Portsmouth in the UK says, “Yes”.  If you’re not protecting your breasts properly, up and down and side to side movement with exercise doesn’t just mean you may be sensitive, uncomfortable or hurting. It actually could cause your breasts to sag prematurely.

Personally, I have experienced this and even went as far as to wear two sports bras at once in an attempt to overcome the discomfort and keep from sagging. I finally recently found a performance sports bra that withstands my work outs but is comfy too. It’s the Auburn Fitness Performance Racer Back Bra by Caliloko. It’s made with Meryl Hydrogen Skinlife yarn. I am going to research that a bit after this posting. The bra is seamless and soft, provides optimal sweat wicking and it breathes.
