I started my holiday shopping with a Models Own Brow Pencil & Blender Duo

My first stocking stuffer of the season for my girls is a Models Own Brow Pencil & Blender Duo As soon as one of my girls tried it out, my other daughter loved the look so much that I picked up a few more for them. These are real before and after pictures of what the Models Own Brow Pencil & Blender Duo can do for your brows with a little time (I’m talking about only a few minutes). The look is stunning.

Models Own Brow Pencil & Blender Duo is available in three shades: Blonde. Medium Brown and Deep Brown. After applying the eyebrow pencil and creating your shape, use the blender end to finish the look and fill in the light spots. It’s easy to use and works like magic. The angled tip creates and defines your brow shape. Blend and  smudge the defined brow with the blender end for a naturally bold finish. Touchup when needed but you won’t have to do it often. Models Own Brow Pencil & Blender Duo has tremendous staying power as it lasts all day.

With the holidays around the corner, a girl needs to be prepared and a Models Own Brow Pencil & Blender Duo should be a staple in your purse. You will transform your brow from work to play in no time.

Tips That Make Outdoor Holiday Decorating Easy and Fun from RubberMulch

OUTDOOR HOLIDAY DECORATING IS MADE ENJOYABLE & EASY WITH SOME TIPS FROM YOUR FRIENDS AT RUBBERMULCH

Now that Halloween is behind us, all eyes are focused on the upcoming winter holidays. Are you thinking about decorating your home for the festive season ahead? We sure are! Sprucing up the outside of your home will be enjoyable, non-labor intensive, and wallet-friendly with a little help from our friends at RubberMulch. Rhianna Miller, home and garden design expert for RubberMulch shows you exactly how to get that polished outdoor holiday decorating down with easy-to-create ideas that don’t take a lot of time or money. Check out these great ideas below:
The Front Entryway. Your front door and entryway are begging for personal treatment when it comes to outdoor holiday decorating. In this case, simple goes a long way. You can always go with the standard wreath—it never goes out of style and always looks good. Put a twist on the old school wreath by adding more than one, hanging from a decorative ribbon, wrapping around a string of lights, etc. Wreaths look great hung from windows and yard fencing as well. Dig out your old sled from childhood and place by the front door for a hint of nostalgia. Candles look great on a front porch, place in a metal bucket, glass hurricane candle holders or metal lanterns. The nighttime lighting will be key in making your front entryway holiday perfect.

Outdoor Garden Containers. Repurpose your summer garden containers and make them winter ready. Fill containers with frost-tolerant plants and greens such as evergreens, cabbage, and tigs. Real cut logs also make a great filler for your containers. Add ribbon around the logs and a string of lights.
Just Add Swag. A simple, cost effective way to add a dash of holiday décor is with evergreen swags or garland. Whether you choose to pick up real evergreen swags or fake, simply wrap your garland around the mailbox, front porch bannisters and railings, fence, and anything else in your front yard that could use a little green. Hold swags in place with Command Hooks (they stick to any surface and do not leave marks when you remove them).
Whimsical Holiday Décor. Making your own outdoor holiday décor is both fun and inexpensive. All you need is a little creativity. Check your garage for planters, metal lanterns, and scrap wood. With a few basic tools and a hot glue gun, you’ll be ready to create. Scrap wood or pallets can be cut and made into a non-traditional Christmas tree display with lights for the front yard. If you’re like most of us, you’ve got a lot of extra Christmas tree balls in storage. They can be glued together and set in a pot for an interesting topiary or used to fill a metal lantern. Stringed fresh cranberries make a unique garland to add to evergreen. Attach jingle bells, pinecones and unbreakable tree ornaments to wreaths and garland (pick these up at a dollar store near you), a couple of yards of plaid fabric can dress up garland or a front porch rocking chair, and backyard twigs can be spray painted gold and added to planters and container plants.
Add A Festive Holiday Look to Planters. Galvanized metal buckets are handy for many reasons — they are perfect to set your terra-cotta planters in as they make a great festive yet inexpensive look for the holidays. They are also ideal for creating elegant arrangements using long-stemmed berries or natural branches. A small wreath laid around the base of the planter is a great way to add even more holiday color! Place on front porch to greet your guests as they arrive for holiday parties.
Light Up The Night. Luminaries are a classic holiday decoration and a beautiful addition to the exterior of any home. Line your sidewalk or driveway with luminaries to welcome guests for your holiday gathering. For those who have a fear of fire or the annoyance of the candle flame blowing out with wind, battery operated candles or LED luminary lights makes the perfect solution.
Decorate Outdoor Christmas Trees. If your yard has evergreen trees, consider creating an outdoor Christmas tree. It will brighten up the entire yard. Keeping with the theme of your other decorations, string clear or colored Christmas lights throughout the branches. Be sure to string lights among the interior branches instead of just draping them on the exterior branches to make the whole tree brighter.  You can also make large Christmas light balls by bending chicken wire into a ball and threading strings of lights through the structure.

Effective Reasons How Shoes Can Protect Your Feet

DRAFT

Your feet have many working areas: muscles, joints, bones, connective tissues, tendons, and nerves that need to work togetherso they can function properly. In addition to receiving our weight and taking us to our desired destination, our feet also influence the performance of our hips and glutes. It is just right to wear protective shoes to prevent possible foot injuries and infections.

Many kinds of shoes are manufactured to make certain tasks faster and safer. There are shoes made for sports, work, and treating injuries. The right pair of shoes provides numerous benefits. Here are the effective reasons how shoes can protect your feet.

Running shoes – woman tying shoe laces. Closeup of female sport fitness runner getting ready for jogging outdoors on forest path in late summer or fall. Vintage effect style pictures.

  • Protection from Harmful Microorganisms

Shoes protect our feet from harmful bacteria, virus, and fungi that may be present on the ground. During the early 1900s, there was an epidemic of hookworms that affected thousands of people. Lack of foot protection and improper sanitary facilities contributed to the governmental issue (1).

While hookworm epidemic is no longer a big problem today, proper footwear is still the best way to lower the chances of developing foot infections and parasitic diseases. Other foot conditions, like corns, bunions, and Charcot foot can also be relieved with proper shoes.

2.  Prevent Trips, Slips, and Falls

Accidents can happen in any workplace and may cause not only foot injury but also bone fracture. Companies can take steps such as installing anti-slip floor tape and implementing housekeeping measures to lower the risk of these accidents. Proper shoes also provide additional protection against trips, falls and slips.

Foot conditions like plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia and Achilles tendonitis can also be relieved with orthotic footwear. They can provide you with a better grip on things and also improve your posture over time.

3.  Prevent Fatigue

For workers who are on their feet all day, fatigue can be a huge problem. Muscles in the legs, back, feet and other parts of the body grow tired. The condition can be aggravated by wearing inappropriate footwear. This greatly affects the performance and alertness of employees.

To prevent fatigue and exhausted muscles, it is important that you use proper footwear according to the task and workplace.Look for shoes that are lightweight and shock absorbing to avoid over fatigue (2).

4. Support, Stability, and Comfort

There are different types of foot arches: low arch/flat feet, medium arch, and high arch. Each type requires enough level of arch support. Properly fitting shoes can also assist in aligning your feet, ankles, knees and back to improve your posture. Without supportive shoes, unnecessary stress or impact on certain areas of your feet and knees may occur. This can result in back, foot and knee pain.

You can reduce the risk of foot injuries by wearing shoes that offer additional padding, arch and heel support.

5.  Protect from Punctures

Aside from harmful bacteria, fungi, and viruses, shoes also protect our feet from sharp objects. Shoes that provide the best protection are those made with thick materials and heavy-duty soles. This is important, especially when working at construction sites and factories as a soft-soled shoe may not give enough protection from punctures.

Even walking along the street requires thick and well-padded soles. You may be able to walk on grass and other softer surfaces, but there can be rocks, glass and other items that may cause injuries.

Final Word

Shoes secure our feet from many things, such as sharp objects, harmful bacteria, fungi and viruses. Choosing the right pair can help to protect you against common injuries associated with your work or daily routine. For instance, exercise or sports shoes can enhance your performance as you can switch directions faster. Nursing shows give comfort to nurses who need to run around for long hours.

Do not buy shoes that feel tight and expect them to stretch after a few uses. Walk in the shoes so you can be certain that they feel right and comfortable.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST REHAB

Choosing the right addiction rehab can be a daunting task, same goes for getting the best recovery program. It can all be frustrating without knowing what to look out for. Read here for best information on Drug and Alcohol Rehab https://www.serenityatsummit.com/drug-alcohol-detox/

Two basic criteria to consider as far as ideal rehab centers go is whether you’d prefer an inpatient or outpatient treatment for you or patient.

An Inpatient addiction treatment permanently keeps the within the facility24 hours daily with all focus on recovering from their addiction during that period. If you’d prefer a more flexible approach, outpatients’ treatment options are available. Patients like this are treated outside the facility in their comfort zones but may be required to come in for counseling and participate in other forms of addiction treatment at the rehab facility.

Being able to pick out the perfect rehab system for your ward, kid or loved one will have you look at a few factors including;

  • Treatment programs: Individualized treatment programs are the most favorable forms of rehabilitation from a drug addiction. Do well to find out what kind or kinds of treatment are on offer at the facility. The more individualized the treatment plan, the easier the journey to recovery will be.

  • Family: Choose a facility that allows family to be involved with the daily recovery journey is suiting for patients. It is easy to feel lonely when separated from family, albeit for treatment purposes. Family involvement during treatment will play a significant role in the patient’s healing process. The benefits of family integration in addiction treatment are numerous. So, it is crucial that the facility has a program that includes the family in the treatment of the said individual.

  • Evidence based treatment: Look forward to centers that offer evidence based treatment procedures as you seek out a rehab facility for your loved one. Beware of treatment centers that have no record of their long-term success with patients, they probably have none. Some treatment centers feed off the relapse of patients. They do well to deliver quick fire results in as little as 30 days, which would be a good thing if patients didn’t suffer a relapse and head back to their facility.

  • Program timeframe: Make inquiries about the duration for the program. Find out if it’s a short term or a long-term program. Addiction is generally a complex problem that involves both physical and mental damage. The most common type of drug rehab program most facilities feature is the 28days program. Most addicts need a considerable amount of time that stretches longer than 28days to become stably sober.

  • 12-step based program: Over the years, the 12-step program has been proven to be completely effective especially in cases of maiden treatment for sobriety. Find out if the facility in view offers this program and how effective it has been on past patients before making your decision.

  • Pharmaceutical or medical recovery program: Various addiction rehabs partake in the use of pharmaceutical or medical recovery aids.

Treatment of this sort rarely has any impact on patients suffering from addiction. This kind of treatment fails to give the addict the necessary paraphernalia required to be completely sober. Hence, the need to seek personalized treatment is essential. Ask questions about how they go about this treatment and how effective it has been on past patients. Don’t take their word for it, ensure to do your homework before deciding.

  • Quality of Staff: The benefits of working with skilled professionals in helping addicts achieve sobriety cannot be over emphasized. It sets the tone for what kind of treatment to expect and how much attention and care your love done would get during the period. As far as rehabilitation goes, working with skilled and experienced professionals will produce remarkable results. Endeavor to look out for the credibility of licensure the staff possesses.

  • Dual diagnosis: The vast population of drug addiction patients get admitted into rehabs because they suffer from a substance or behavioral over-dependence. Unfortunately, some patients go into treatment with other co-occurring psychiatric or psychological disorder. This is termed as dual diagnosis. Most times, this disorder is depression and anxiety. If you are certain that a loved one is suffering from dual diagnosis, be sure to bring that to the notice of the correctional facility.

  • Punitive Measures: Some addiction rehabs use certain punitive measures to ensure addicts steer clear from the habit of abuse. Many centers use harsh confrontation and shame based approaches. Rumors have it that this method breaks the addict to fix them back. So far, this method has only recorded a disappointing success rate on patients. You would do well to avoid these facilities as they do more harm than good to the individual. Watch out for centers with less punitive measures that do not further debase the patient.

Why Do Hairstylists Choose Tape-In Hair Extensions?

If you are new to hair extensions and trying to select the best type, doesn’t it make sense to go with the method preferred by a majority of hair stylists? There are a number of reasons why tape-in type hair extensions are the method chosen time and time again by professional hairstylists. Here are just a few of those reasons.

  1. The application is easy. Tape-in hair extensions are easy to install. There are no tools required, except perhaps one-sided tape (more about this later). The tape-in hair extensions come in different sizes and lengths for a perfect application. Narrower pieces can be used to fill in around the hairline where the natural hair is finer and thinner; these smaller pieces can also be added to the crown for invisible addition of volume and fullness. The application is painless and takes less time than many other hair extension methods.
  2. The cost is lower than other methods. When purchasing hair extensions, cost is always a factor. With tape-in extensions you get more for your money. Why? The tape-in extensions have the unique characteristic of flexibility in the application. They can be applied by using two of the pieces per section of natural hair for a bulkier look and feel; they can also be used in single pieces per section of natural hair, and sealed off with one-sided tape. This effectively doubles the use of the hair that you buy, leaving you with extra for future applications. It also allows you to spread the hair out more evenly over the head for a very natural look and feel. When you have them installed professionally, it doesn’t take your stylist as long to put them in, which also saves you money.
  3. They are the least damaging method. Tape-in hair extensions, when taken care of properly, cause virtually no damage to the natural hair. Normal shedding continues to occur during wear of any hair extension, so don’t panic when they are removed and you see all the hair that was shed that couldn’t get out because of the extensions. You will see that your own natural hair is still very much intact. The way to make sure to get the least damage out of this or any hair extension method is to maintain them properly during wear. We will cover those points at the end of this article.
  4. Tape-in hair extensions are long lasting. Because the tape-in hair extensions sit very flat to the head, they present as a much easier way to style the hair, and they look exceptionally natural. If you are gentle in your handling of them, they will last you longer than other methods. As with any other hair extension application, care should be taken when using hot tools and in detangling them.
  5. Tape-in extensions are more comfortable. The tape-in method of hair extensions is very comfortable to wear. You hardly feel like you have them on! The tape itself is very fine, it is color matched at the top so it goes completely undetected, and there are no bumps and bulges to annoy you. They are comfortable to sleep in, and no one needs to know you’re wearing them if you don’t want them to! They are especially suited for fine and/or thin hair, as they are well hidden.
  6. There are many color options to choose from. Tape-in hair extensions are quite versatile in the colors you can choose. You can add lighter pieces for a highlighted look; you can choose Ombre options in any color you like; you can add fun colors for a special event; there are many ways to customize color with the tape-in method. As a result, you will save time, money and damage to your natural hair by using the extensions to explore your color desires! Gone are the days of having to color your hair, only to damage it further when you want to change colors. With the tape-ins you’ll never get bored with your color.

Use this handy checklist to make your tape-in hair extension experience the best it can be:

  • Talk with your stylist about tape-in extensions and their advantages
  • Consult on the color option that works best for you, have fun with it!
  • Determine what length of hair extensions will suit you best, consider purchasing a bit longer than you want, to allow for trimming the hair
  • Consider going with the single-sided tape application, as this will automatically double the amount of hair you buy, and will give you better coverage of hair on your head
  • Have your natural hair colored first if you want to match the extensions to it. It’s not advisable nor necessary to color the hair extensions, as there are many colors available. If the color doesn’t work out right, you’ve lost your money; hair extensions cannot be returned if colored.
  • Take care when brushing or combing the extensions, don’t pull or rip at them. Hold hair at the top and work downward.
  • Use the proper shampoo and conditioner recommended by your stylist. While conditioner is on in the shower, comb through the hair thoroughly before rinsing.
  • Never sleep in wet hair unless it is pulled into a firm pony tail or braid. Doing otherwise can knot the hair and make it painful and/or impossible to get out.
  • Take care with hot tools, especially at the top where the tape is applied. Too much heat can dry out and damage the tape area, causing the extensions to release/slip. Use protective products to guard against heat damage from irons and other hot tools.
  • Don’t wait too long to get back to your stylist for a re-application. Letting extensions go too long in between visits is a no-no. Not only do they start to look bad, they can do unnecessary damage to your natural hair by tangling and/or matting. Consult with your stylist on the expected time frame for re-application. Much of this depends on how fast your hair grows and how well you maintain the extensions in between salon visits.

If you do your homework and get the tape-in extensions that are right for you in color, length and density, you will be most pleased with this type of extension. Cheers to your new look!!

15 Doctor Recommended “To Do’s” to Fight the Flu

As we head into flu season there are many things we can do to “flu proof” ourselves. Regardless of whether you choose to get a flu vaccine or not, there are things we can do to heighten our chances of not getting sick this winter. Dr. Christopher Calapai, a New York based Osteopathic Physician board certified in family medicine, and anti-aging medicine provided us with a comprehensive list of 15 to do’s to fight the flu.

  1. Keep your surroundings clean, wipe surfaces at work, keep your cell phone clean. According to the CDC viruses can survive on a surface for up to 8 hours

  1. Wash your hands frequentlyand use a hand sanitizer. Remember the workplace and public spaces are a hotbed for germs. This is where the hand washing comes into play.

  1. Increase intake of vitamin D, C, E and A.Include foods such as red bell peppers (add to salads), sweet potatoes, chicken soup, salmon and garlic. Research shows that keeping vitamin D levels at 80 ng/ml or so decreases the risk of catching the flu and swine flu.

  1. Bring your own lunchto work where you can control food prep and ensure surfaces are clean.

  1. Get a full night’s sleep. When you feel run down you’re more susceptible to illness.

  1. Work from homewhen feeling sick. These days it’s easier for people to work from home at the slightest signs of cold or flu.

  1. Eat kimchi! It’s delicious and a great probiotic which boost immunity.

  1. Add mushrooms to your meal.Packed with selenium they’re an immunity booster.

  1. Sip green or black tearich in polyphenols and flavonoids which ward off illness as well as L-theanine,

an immunity boosting amino acid. Green and black tea are also packed with polyphenols and flavonoids.

  1. Munch on sweet potato frieswhich are high in vitamin which helps us fight off bacteria and viruses.

  1. Don’t touch your face especially the eyes. The average person touches their face around 15 times

per hour! It’s something we do unconsciously so if we can be more aware of face touching the more we can stop.

  1. Soup it up!Chicken veggie noodle or ginger garlic soup fights flu and sinus infection.

  1. Exercise regularly!Doing 30 minutes of moderate cardio per day is optimal to enhance the performance of infection fighting white blood cells.

  1. Go hands free on the smartphone. When we put our phones down and then pick them up or touch them this is where viruses can spread. Using earbuds and cleaning the phone with a devise friendly cleaner will help.

  1. Lose the booze. You really want to cut back on alcohol consumption during flu season. It dehydrates us and lowers our immunity so our ability to fight off virus is impaired.
