A Glamorous Chat With Top Model Sharam Diniz

Sharam Diniz has come a long way since growing up and starting her modeling career in a small town in Luanda, Angola, Southwest Africa. Now in her mid-twenties, Sharam is walking the runways for the world top designers, being showcased at multiple Victoria’s Secret fashion shows, starring in campaigns for Chanel, Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren, Seven For All Mankind and Clinique, and to top it all off, becoming the first Angolan model to appear on the cover of Vogue Magazine. Not a bad resume!!!

With her career continuing to become more and more successful, Sharam is in the midst of launching her own hair extension product line and helping to work with other young models to advise them on their careers.

It’s A Glam Thing sat down with Sharam out of her current home in New York City to find out more about her own style, her favorite trends & career moments, and what goals are next.

NICK NORTHSTAR: How would you describe your own personal style – both while at home and while out in public / on the red carpet?

SHARAM DINIZ: I have a very versatile style. I like feeling confident with whatever I’m wearing. I consider myself a little lazy as well, when it comes to putting a whole look together so usually I wear dresses or jumpsuits, which are easy-to-go pieces, or simply jeans and sneakers whenever I’m traveling. When it comes to red carpets or galas, I mostly wear gowns.

NN: What are some of your favorite beauty products that you use to get red-carpet ready?

SD: Lots of mascara. Lip gloss is also key, as a dry lip can ruin your night and a smile always.

NN: As a model, who are some of your favorite fashion designers?

SD: I love feeling chic, elegant and sexy… some of my favorite designers are: Balmain, Carolina Herrera, Versace and Roberto Cavalli.

NN: What is your favorite Instagram filter? Or #NoFilter?

SD: It depends, but I usually embrace the colors of the images, I would say the filter I use the most is 50% of “Claredon” and 5% of sharpen.

NN: What Top 3 Fashion Trends do you LOVE right now?

SD: The short hair trend… I just did a hair cut and I’m loving it. I’m also a big fan of hats and in terms of make up the ‘natural look’.

NN: Out of all your runways & campaigns, which were your favorite to be a part of?

SD: Calzedonia and Victoria’s Secret, for the simple fact that as models we could interact more with the public and be ourselves.

NN: What is your advice to other models in Angola that want to come to the United States and pursue a full-time career in modeling?

SD: I would say once you find a good agency, stay focused and dedicated because it is a very competitive market. If you “fall asleep” it is hard to get up again, but most important of all, enjoy the ride.

NN: What is your definition of “Glam”?

SD: Glam for me means beauty and elegance.

NN: How does the style in New York compare to that in Hollywood and Angola?

SD: I feel like New York is everything about art and fashion, Hollywood can be more “chilled” and Angola even though is a tropical country, during the day people might be seen in comfortable looks but in the evening women change completely, that’s one thing you should know about Angolan women, we are vain.

NN: What are your goals for the next few years?

SD: Acting is still my dream and I am continuing in developing my hairline extension brand “Sharam Hair” in different markets such as America, Europe and Africa.
