Get the Look: Red Carpet Styles by TRESemmé Stylist John D

Tonight, TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist John D. created gorgeous hairstyles for several leading ladies on the red carpet, including Greta Gerwig and Drew Barrymore.  Please find his hairstyle how-to’s with images below for reference.

Best actress nominee, Greta Gerwig turned heads in her DKNY Atelier gown and gorgeous, textured up-do.
“Our inspiration for tonight was purely feeling beautiful.  We wanted the look to be elegant, classic, and romantic so I opted for a soft, romantic ‘do to  complement Greta’s style.”
How-to:
  1. Use TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse on clean hair and apply throughout, from root to tip, for volume and a great foundation. Blow-dry hair using a medium-sized round brush to add extra bounce and lift at the root
  2. Once hair is dry, use a 1″ curling iron to create body, which helps add softness to the final look. It also holds hair together, which is necessary when creating an up-do. Once finished, flip head upside-down and spray waves using TRESemmé TRES Two Ultra Fine Mist Hair Spray
  3. Section off the hair that frames the face (ear to ear) and give the hair a light back comb at the root for added lift. Then, rake fingers through hair to tame down excess lift and pull remaining hair back toward the nape of the neck. Split hair into two sections and proceed to tie hair into knots creating a kind of loose “chain” effect.  Bobby pin into place. Pull the remaining hair, that was sectioned out, toward the back of the head and secure using a few hair pins.
  4. Finish the look by spraying TRESemmé TRES Two Hairspray all over to lock it in place. Try embellishing the style using some sparkly jewelry or an accessory – Greta wore Vintage Fred Leighton pieces.
Drew Barrymore looked radiant in her embellished Monique Lhuillier gown. To complement her fun and feminine style, we opted for a super straight look with a deep side part. “I wanted to balance the exquisite detail on her gown by keeping the hair simple and chic.”
How-to:
  1. Prep clean, towel-dried hair with a thermal heat protectant spray and spritz throughout. Comb through to ensure hair is coated, and blow dry. To get a super smooth blowout, I like to use a boar bristle paddle brush. This allows you to get a nice hold on each section and create tension to aid in the smoothing process.
  2. Once hair is dry, use a flat iron on a medium-to-low setting and run the iron through the hair to seal down the cuticle and add great shine.
  3. Determine parting and tuck behind ears. To ensure a nice smooth part, use just a dab of mousse and spread it out onto fingertips then apply the product to the parting area to create extra shine and added hold. Take a small dab of hair creme, emulsify into palms and run through the mid-lengths and ends to tame fly-aways and add shine.

2014 Golden Globes; Get Kate Beckinsale’s Hair Look

Kate Back Golden Kate Golden Globes                   Overall Inspiration:With her wholesome, English rose good looks, Kate can get away with quite a bit of edginess in her hairstyle, so we went with a punk-inspired diva look that’s a bit different from her usual soft flowing waves.”    “Get the Look”   Hair—Prep/Style:

  • ·         Start by spraying Moroccanoil Root Boost directly on to the roots of damp hair. The spray will help add body and hold and it’s a great way to set the style in. It’ll also make hair more pliable and easier to work with.
  • ·         Start blow drying your hair using a skeleton brush; use your fingers to create texture and additional volume. Once the hair is fully dry, separate into a horseshoe shaped section (the part between both temples & your crown area) and clip the top section away.
  • ·         Pull the bottom section into a low, side ponytail at the nape of the neck and secure with an elastic. Then coil & wrap the tail into a messy bun.  You can even tug a few strands out to create naturally falling bits and to loosen the bun. Secure it with bobby pins.
  • ·         Take the hair from the top section and backcomb the roots using Moroccanoil Boar Bristle Teasing Brush to maximize the volume at the crown and create a slightly disheveled texture.
  • ·         Secure the top section into the existing, loose bun with bobby pins.

Finishing Touches:

  • ·         Mist the hair with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to add shine and long-lasting hold. Spray a little on finger tips and work it into the single strands to help define. Secure the final look with a few more pins. You’re good to go!

Get The Golden Globe Look – Sofia Vergara – Hair By Harry Josh

71st Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

On tonight’s Golden Globes Red Carpet, Sofia was stunning in a strapless sweetheart Zach Posen ballgown with a perfect blowout. According to Celebrity Hairstylist Harry Josh, her look was all about the return of classically simple yet chic hair. “Waves have ruled the red carpet for so long. We wanted to keep Sofia looking modern and fresh and a chic, luxurious blowout lent her that,” says Josh.

Here is how he got the look:
Josh created a diagonal part and blowdried her hair section by section with a two inch round brush and his Harry Josh Pro Tools Pro Dryer 2000 ($300 at Hairenvy.com). Those were the only tools he needed to make this high impact red carpet look. By using the built in ion technology of the dryer, Josh was able to achieve a super satiny finish. “Sometimes less is more in a sea of overly intricate hairstyles. Simple and chic can steal the show.”

Not Feeling so Glamorous? Head for the OCEAN

OceanNasalCare.com - OCEAN Complete Sinus Rinse

The following is a true story: My 24 year old daughter had been battling a cold before we left for our Thanksgiving vacation to Florida. When we arrived, she was only feeling worse. Over the next few days she developed, as she describes, “an extremely bad case of post nasal which was keeping her up at night.  She said it was the worst case of post nasal drip she ever had. She was constantly trying to clear her nasal passages and in doing so, she continuously burst into coughing spells. The cold medicine was not helping very much and when someone from the hotel suggested she try a nasal flush, we immediately got one for her.

OCEAN®  Complete Sinus Rinse worked like a charm. My daughter never used a saline rinse before and once she tried OCEAN®  Complete Saline Rinse she felt great and was finally able to get some much needed sleep. OCEAN®  Complete Saline Rinse is easy to use (it’s best to use over a sink) and with only a few squirts in each nostril, it cleared out her nasal passages and was free of mucus for about 4 to 6 hours. There was no stinging or discomfort of any kind. The spout directed the stream of saline into her nostril with ease and she continued to do this for a few day until her symptoms went away. OCEAN®  Complete Saline Rinse is now a staple in her medicine cabinet and she won’t travel without it.

OCEAN®  Complete Saline Rinse was formulated to relieve nasal and sinus pressure and congestion, at the same time keeping your nasal passages moist. The saline rinse comes with two easy to use removable nozzles, one for irrigation (rinse) and one for moisturizing (mist) which you will want to use if you suffer from dry nasal passages.

OCEAN®  Complete Saline Rinse is used to irrigate membranes following nasal surgery, moisturize dry, sensitive nasal tissue before or after nasal surgery, and as a daily nasal rinsing as part of a nasal health regime. OCEAN®  Complete Saline Rinse also helps to reduce congestion by thinning mucus, reduces nasal dryness caused by drug-induced dryness and for soothing dry irritated nasal passages due to allergies, cold, flu, rhinitis, and sinusitis.

OCEAN®  Complete Saline Rinse is a  sterile, non medicated preservative-free salt formula which is safe for frequent daily use.

OCEAN Saline Nasal Spray

OCEAN Saline Nasal Spray

OCEAN®  also makes a sensational saline nasal spray. As stated by their website, “OCEAN® Saline Nasal Spray is the original, #1 pharmacist-recommended nasal saline moisturizer. It offers natural, non-medicated relief for dry, irritated nasal passages due to allergies, colds, flu, rhinitis and sinusitis. It is safe for frequent daily nasal care and is gentle enough for infants.”  It is the perfect size to carry with you in a purse or book bag and you enjoy the benefits of the spray when you need to moisturize your nasal passages or get relief from a cold while on the go.

NEW YORK – January 9, 2014Oxygen Media takes viewers inside the mind and heart of TV personality Maria Menounos as she strives to have it all in the new half-hour docu-series “Chasing Maria Menounos”  premiering on Tuesday, March 18 at 10:00 PM ET/PT. Maria shares her personal life for the first time as she challenges expectations and makes untraditional choices while surrounded by tradition.

“‘Chasing Maria Menounos’ is an emotional, comedic journey that will introduce Oxygen viewers to a modern young woman who is at a crossroad in her life and trying to decide what’s next,” said Rod Aissa, Senior Vice President, Original Programming and Development, Oxygen Media. “Maria is ambitious, unconventional and incredibly funny, you just can’t help but fall in love with her.”

Maria may be best known as the upbeat host of “Extra,” traveling the world interviewing celebrities and guest starring on television. But if you dig a little deeper you’ll find that Maria is a fearless, confident modern woman who is living her life as she designed it, confronting the obstacles head-on that surround her eclectic career and home life. Maria came from very humble beginnings but never stopped chasing her dreams. Now she lives with her boyfriend of 15 years, Keven, and traditional Greek immigrant parents, Costas and Litsa, who are demanding she at last get married and have children. Though she respects her devoted family and boyfriend’s opinions, she tends to make decisions with or without their approval. As Maria turns 35, she contemplates whether she can support her parents and the friends who depend on her, while building a family with Keven and having some fun along the way.

On the season premiere, no one celebrates their birthday as hard as Maria when she goes all out with a luau-themed party that includes a star-studded roster of friends such as “Dancing With the Stars” dancer Derek Hough, blogger and television personality Perez Hilton, and Khloe Kardashian from “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” This year Maria’s birthday takes on a big significance; what starts out as a party becomes about facing down the realities of getting older and leads Maria to rethink the way she wants to live her life. Luckily for her, she can do it with comedic flair.

“Chasing Maria Menounos” is produced by Left/Right with Ken Druckerman, Banks Tarver, and Angie Day serving as Executive Producers along with Maria Menounos and Keven Undergaro.
