Chosen as one of the Most Beautiful Doctors in America, meet Dr. Justin Piasecki

Earlier in the year, the popular television series on CBS, The Doctors, announced their choices for The Most Beautiful Doctors in America.  Referring to the  synopsis of that show, “The Doctors’ producers traveled coast to coast in search of the most beautiful men in medicine to bring you a full year of helpful health tips and handsome faces with the Most Beautiful Doctors in America 2013 calendar!”

I recently interviewed Dr. Justin Piasecki, a board certified plastic surgeon, skin cancer expert, and specialist in Plastic Micrographic Surgery used to treat skin cancer who was chosen as one of the Most Beautiful Doctors in America, and represented the month of March in the calendar mentioned above.

In this feature I look forward to introducing you to Dr. Piasecki as not only one of the 12 “Most Beautiful Doctors in America,” but a well respected dedicated plastic surgeon,  skin cancer specialist , family man, and innovator of his soon to be launched Piasecki MD line of skin care products.

I couldn’t wait to ask Dr. Piasecki what it was like to be recognized as one of “The Most Beautiful Doctors in America”, and be part of such a well respected group of doctors.  I could hear the smile in his voice as he explained that the doctors who were chosen across the country all got together and participated in the creation of a 2013 Calendar for the benefit of the American Red Cross -Disaster Relief , as well as each doctor sharing a health tip in the calendar.  Dr. Piasecki said, “it was an honor, and fun to do !!”

Dr. Piasecki’s health tip for the calendar was related to an accident he had last year. He fell 15 feet from a rope directly on his head, and could have easily have been paralyzed or killed in the mishap. Thank goodness he survived! He said, “the accident taught me to focus on my family and enjoy the smaller things in life. We reset every weekend, stay out in the barn, and turn off all the electronics.”

Here is Dr. Piasecki’s Health Care tip that is in the Calendar:  “Take some time every week to shut off your electronics and share time with people you care about. There’s always room for coffee with a friend and time with people you care about and unless you make that time, it’s going to be gone.”

Dr. Piasecki’s Harbor Plastic Surgery Center is located in beautiful Gig Harbor, Washington.  Here the doctor provides a full service menu of plastic surgery procedures, and minimal invasive procedures for his patients.

I was curious about what procedures were often requested. He said that the younger women were usually interested in Breast Augmentation, the middle aged women who have had their children and would like to eliminate loose abdominal skin usually opt for the Tummy Tuck, and the 50+ women most often choose to have a Facelift .

As a skin cancer specialist, Dr. Piasecki is a member of the American College of Mohs surgery and performs a unique procedure treating skin cancer using “plastic micrographic surgery”. I had wondered why the plastic micrographic surgery was so unique, and learned that…
“Housed within Harbor Plastic Surgery Center is the Skin Cancer Center. Adjacent to St. Anthony Hospital, The Skin Cancer Center has a Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery center which allows patients to have reconstructive surgery following their Mohs surgery (cancer excision) in the same setting.”

That certainly answered my question and I realized how remarkable Dr. Piasecki’s plastic micrographic surgery procedure is! Putting it simply, Dr. Piasecki is able to diagnose the skin cancer, remove the skin cancer, and reconstruct the surgical area on the patient right at his clinic. This is quite obviously a much easier and less stressful process for the patient.

SUNSCREENS:
Dr. Piasecki gave me some up to the minute information about sunscreens! The FDA has made some new labeling requirements for sunscreens! Make sure you are aware of that and look for the following on the label when you purchase your sunscreen!
• Broadband protection – That means you are getting protected from both the UVA and UVB rays.
• SPF 30 or greater
• Water resistant – Your sunscreen needs to be water resistant, but keep in mind that when you come out of the water and use a towel ,you need to reapply your sunscreen! If you are in the water, reapply every 2-3 hours.
• Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide – Those are two great ingredients to look for in your sunscreen.

My face and body have been in desperate need of a sunscreen that will not cause blemishes and goes on smoothly. Many sunscreens have gone on greasy, producing shiny and dry skin which makes it difficult to apply makeup, so I usually just keep my gigantic sunglasses on for the day. Taylor is Sweet and Fresh

Part of completing a perfect outfit is not only looking like a million dollars, but smelling like it too! The new Taylor Swift perfume “Taylor” can do the trick. Taylor Swift’s newest fragrance is the perfect mixture of sweet and fresh. This exquisite fragrance comes in a beautifully designed clear bottle with a clear beveled glass knob wrapped with pearls, simply gorgeous. It’s  nice to take on those long weekends or an exotic vacation getaway. Recently I went to a sleepover at a friend’s house and it was awesome to just slip in my bag and it didn’t take up much room.
