66ºNorth Heats up a Cold January Night with the launch of their Winter 2011 Collection

On January 5, 2011 high fashion merged with sports and leisure as Iceland-based outerwear clothing brand 66ºNorth debuted its Fall/Winter 2011 Men’s and Women’s Collection at an exclusive launch party attended by the crème de la crème of New York’s fashion media and experts.

Keeping in line with the Nordic theme of 66ºNorth’s clothing, the event took place at NYC’s Scandinavia House where guests were treated to cocktails provided by Reyka Vodka, the first vodka distilled in Iceland. A select number of VIP guests as well as members of national and international media were present to celebrate the launch of 66ºNorth’s latest collection. Notable celebrity sightings included Josh Strickland, star of E! Channel’s hit reality series “Holly’s World,” as well as Reichen Lehmkuhl and Rodiney Santiago from Logo’s “The A-List: New York.”

One of Iceland’s oldest manufacturing companies, 66ºNorth is an expert in the creation of specialized clothing for use in the toughest conditions on land and sea. However, what distinguishes 66ºNorth from their competitors on the outerwear market is their ability to think outside the norm and continuously mix the latest fashion with high quality and comfort.

As guests of the fashion show were able to see for themselves, the brand’s latest line of clothing was no exception from the rule. The collection featured an affluent variety of parkas and jackets in all colors of the rainbow designed to embrace the body, thus keeping it warm without accumulating unnecessary bulk around the torso. Rather than adding features one doesn’t really need, the designer team behind 66ºNorth incorporated only what is necessary for peak performance, creating sleek and sophisticated, yet comfortable, pieces.

The Fall/Winter 2011 line also included cable-knit sweaters in grey and beige, as well as trekking pants and tights made of abrasion resistant fabrics and designed to accommodate a high range of movement. Finishing up the looks were 66ºNorth’s signature wintry accessories. Embroidery and detailing abound, the brand’s wide variety of hats and mittens offers a unique completion to any look or style and guarantees warmth in severe winter weather.

Following the fashion show, each guest received a luxurious goody bag filled with gifts provided by Blue Lagoon Iceland spa products, Icelandic Glacial water, IcelandAir and Reyka Vodka. In addition, each bag contained a hat or a pair of mittens courtesy of 66ºNorth as a token of their appreciation to their honorary guests.
